From the likes of Brooklyn Beer to MOA and BrewFist and the largest range of SA brews like Brew Boys, Birbecks, Steam Exchange and Goodieson (seriously no one stocks Goodieson except Goodieson) these guys must be on some kind of black market, underground trading scheme to have such variety. They run tasting events from Thursday to Sunday (which I'm going to have to schedule in). They also have a fortnightly rotating tap for filling your growler. Yep, that's right you can get your growler sterilised and filled to the brim of a beer you won't normally be able to get by the bottle. You heard me! A range of boutique, small batch SA wine makers and some interesting bottles from overseas are also available. They also have my favourite KIS Gin in stock. All in all this is the melting pot for high end, premium and rare alcoholic finds.
Living in the Goodwood area for almost three years now, I honestly don't know how I missed…read morereviewing my local bottle shop, clearly a gross oversight as this place has top reputation and the skills to match. Boasting an excellent array of wines, beers, ciders and a decent spirit selection, Goodwood cellars has the who's-who of wine in South Australia with the heavy hitters and small wineries and brewers on feature. I'm more of a wine drinker myself so my knowledge of the beer selection and ability to comment on it is somewhat redundant (but other reviewers rave, so go read there opinions!). Small wineries that had previously given me the impression of only having a cellar door for sales are prone to appearing for a limited run in store, but I enjoy this as it lets me vary up my local wine knowledge. Prices are very reasonable with monthly specials in all the major categories letting you explore the finer side of the palate without breaking the budget and favourites staying at a consistent price. The best part of this bottle shop has to be the service. The team here definitely know what they're talking about and are always willing to help. Looking for something for yourself? Tell them your preferences and they'll hunt it down (white, crisp, riesling, not sweet, about $20). Looking for a present? They'll find something to suit and impress and will keep your budget in mind (without making you feel like a cheapskate!). And if you have something specific in mind, they'll take you straight to it, saving you from wandering direction-less in those overly large bottle stores popular of late. Only down side is that the spirit section isn't overly large, so don't do what I've done before and drop into pick up Dad's favourite only to find it out of stock on Fathers' Day. That would be an ill-considered move. Oh and its an independent! So feel good about not fueling the coorporate greed whilst downing a hearty red. Nice.
Large range of red wine in store

The owners are clearly red wine buffs, with considerable room granted to these. The point of difference at Hutt St cellars is the service. If you ask for assistance the blokes who work here (yes- it's always fellas) will give you knowledgeable advice which is not monetarily motivated. On choosing between two different bottles of Australian sparkling wine I was advised to purchase the one which was $5 cheaper because my helpful assistant preferred the taste, as it turned out, so did I! I love going to see these guys for their great service and advice- convenience too, as it's not even a block away from my house!

Not a great range on wine but reasonable. I enjoy their 'cheap bins'' it allows me to try new stuff in a way where I won't regret it and can have it aside for houseguests. I even got BIG ice cube trays here. The staff are great and they will work hard to help (at least at my store of the last 5 years) until you find something you like. Also they flatter me each time they ask for my ID. Sign up as a member, okay so the government may track your alcohol intake... ha, no negatives and sometimes you find something awesome with it. One thing I would suggest is a scrapping the flyers policy. So many flyers every week. Just print up the specials and place them around the store and onliine And stop handing out flyers for specials. The first time I walked into the store I wandered around with a mate for well over an hour, astounded at how many beverages there were that we hadn't consumed in vast quantities! Still to this day there are still more than I can count, and I try so very, very hard! Anyways, I'll make it simple. This is the place to get your grog if you live within 10kms or are swinging through, any other option is just silly pants stuff!

They also run several competitions and offer a discount card where points can be earned towards a reduction on normal prices. Once you drive in there are lanes for express and browsing, as there's nothing worse than being stuck behind a dawdler especially when you're late for a party and all you want is a slab and get the hell out of there! So glad my husband and I stumbled upon this absolute gem!!! We originally came in looking for a tasting of a few reds. So awesome that we decided to join the jockey club to receive a case per year (yes....so good that we are having the case shipped across the world back to the USA!). The jockey club comes with tasting notes and recipes paired with each wine/vintage. Such a cool and fun way to experience the wine. After joining the club, we also each got a half glass of the shiraz (more like a full glass) and got to try a few other wines that we would be getting in our shipment. Loved the atmosphere of the cellar door and appreciate it is family run. The winemaker, his wife, and daughter were all in the cellar door talking to us as well as the locals grabbing a glass. What a wonderful spot and family-run business. Highly highly recommend stopping in here!!

As in, non-stop showers all afternoon wet) but the cellar door was also accessible for those of us who were a little more tame in their celebrations. The wines are really good. The sauvignon blanc, the shiraz and the cabernet all have their own charms, at a reasonable price too. I often come here for a freshly squeezed fruit and vegetable juice as it is one of the few places to get fresh juice in the market. In addition to groceries, there are also cooking utensils, soaps and other miscellaneous items imported from Korea. The best thing about Happy Mart is their frozen and refrigerated goods. These frozen meats are perfect for Bulgolgi or Japanese hot-pot meals at home, and I can say with confidence that these meats are fresh and delicious. They also have an abundance of frozen foods such as dumplings that are also suitable for vegetarian diets. And, believe it or not, they have an entire fridge dedicated solely to kimchi! As opposed to the more substantial foods, there is also a variety of Korean cup noodles, snack foods and sweets, as well as Korean soft drinks, teas and even rice wines. Best of all, it's dirt cheap! Each IGA is slightly different, and this one is quite vastly different to the IGA at the other end of Hutt St. This one is on the up-market side, stocking a wide range of gourmet products. The City East deli stocks a range of cakes, pastas, salads, quiches and antipasto. In the fridges you can pick up pre-made meals from a range of local producers. I used to keep my eye on the discount fridge, where deli products went to die. The fruit and veg section isn't awful, but pricier than most. There is a rudimentary few aisles of basic home needs like toilet paper and light bulbs. Next to the regular tinned veg and pasta section is a little stand with fancier Italian products - nice sauces and egg pastas. In the icecream freezer you'll find the Maggie Beer range. Not a bad supermarket all round, and I'm sure it hits the target market of young professionals or wealthier types living in the city.
