This handy little IGA is totally customised for its local shoppers: I love it for that!
Every IGA is independently owned, and thus is hugely different to other IGA's (even the one down the south end of Hutt St). In my humble opinion, City East IGA hits the nail on the head when it comes to its customers and what it stocks.
They had me at the amazing deli counter. Stocked with all the antipasto, salad, hot and cold food, cakes and pies, this is a foodies delight, and perfect for pit stops when friends are coming over and expect some kind of hospitality.
They've also got all the usual stuff in the smallish store: fresh produce, meat, household necessities, cleaning products, and sweet stuff, and as Chloe mentioned some lovely selection of fancier Italian products if you want to whip up a quick yet awesome pasta.
Open late at night and weekends, this is a perfect place for your bits (not for your whole shop). The prices are slightly higher than other supermarkets, but it does the gourmet / small goods/ essentials thing really well. read more
