There is everything you could possibly want--candles, jams, sauces, dukahs, wines, plants, cakes, clothing, bric-a-brac, handicrafts, art, wood turning, jumble, garden and farm tools, jewelry, toys, food and so much more. Everyone is very friendly and happy, and it's a very positive sort of place. Prices of items vary enormously, which is understandable considering the variety of items for sale. This is definitely a market I'll be going back to. The market is open on the third Saturday of every month, from 7am to 12noon.

Well, this is the case with the two fruit and veg shops at Marden Shopping Centre. The smaller of the two is the Marden Fruit Market, and although it doesn't stock the same amount or variety of its big brother down the hall, it does excel in Asian greens and vegetables and often has some really good buys on some really beautiful fruit. I occasionally feel sorry for the store, as it never seems to get the same level of business as the other (nameless) sibling, but it has been open for quite some time, so I would assume that it has some very loyal regulars and benefits from the added foot traffic of being in the middle of the mall. It is not the kind of Fruiterer that you would go out of your way to get to, but it is worth scanning the prices as you walk past because you may just get those button mushrooms for $6 a kilo....bargain!

Market magic! I love…read moremarkets generally but in particular Farmer's markets. I love finding out what's in season, who's growing what where and trying all the local home baked produce. Willunga Farmers Market is a one of the oldest - setting a hard to beat bench mark for many that have followed since including Wayville, Victor Harbor and the Market Shed and the new markets popping up everywhere in the 'burbs. Willunga has a bohemian, hippyish flavour however also caters for the wider community of non vegan or food intolerant! Case in point - Lina's sumptuously sweet and sticky Greek sweets. 55 producers share their wares every Saturday morning - bread sells out immediately - I don't think I've every gotten there early enough to take my pick! Last Saturday we sampled and bought 4 different types of recently dried sultana grapes and muscatels; bought some kale seedlings to grow at home; honeycomb (mangowood and blue gum) for a cheese plate; vanilla bean enhanced candied honey; lavender fudge and brownies; freshly picked, unwaxed and unsprayed Pink Lady apples; a punnet of luscious strawberries from Mt Compass; huge heads of new season broccoli; locally produced "fresh and grassy" olive oil and basil pesto. We finished our morning's forage with a Warrakilla Portuguese tart and a freshly made "cap" from the coffee stall. Willunga Farmers Market is an institution in the Fleurieu and showcases the areas plenitude of local producers. For us townies a trip down south is the ideal excuse to buy the week's seasonal supplies and then indulge in a very special gourmet breakfast, brunch, lunch or picnic!!

My first stop is always Flour Power bread. You need to get in quick if you want a pesto scroll, they fly off the shelf. I also really love their pasta dura. It's made with olive oil so it freezes really well and it makes the best buschetta! This market it pooch friendly so come om down with Fido or Scooby checkout what is in season, have a coffee and sample the local goodies. you won't be diddapointed.

Besides fresh produce, the store offers flowers, a large variety of cheese, some small goods, frozen fruit for smoothies, and healthy snack choices. During Mother's Day and the Christmas season, the store becomes a busy center where many people shop for different products, so it's wise to plan your visit or come early to skip long lines. I strongly recommend the fresh fruits and vegetables; they are excellent.

This is the first time I have visited these markets, I've been a member of the Willunga Farmers Market for a number of months now and having recently move closer to Adelaide needed to find my new organic fix. Not disappointed in the slightest. With a few more stalls then it's Willunga counterpart you are bound to fill your fridge in a jiffy. The veggies and fruit are outside and your meats and baked goods are kept cool undercover. The buzz is hectic with some stalls requiring a ten minute wait in a line. I admit I did not take up this waste of time as anywhere with a line does not deserve my time or attention. This is generally just my motto for pubs and clubs but if the line is too long then it's goodbye wait times. The produce in these stalls did appear nicer and more varied but this will be for testing in later visits. You can become a member for $65 which will get you a discount of 10%. The produce is already quite cheap as you have cut out the middle man who takes his cut at the shops so purchasing a membership will only make your experience even better and a few weekly buys and you've have recouped this money within a few months anyway.

Because they buy in bulk, I onced bought a bag of onions for 95 cents! Bananas are gold here as they go for $1.99/kg and the ripe ones which we Asians love eating (cuz their sweeter!) makes perfect ingredients for banana muffins for lunchboxes. Stock up on watermelons for the coming hot summer days as they go for 99cents here! Are you still standing or have you fainted? The range of leeks, spring onions, usual herbs and veges are absolutely cheap, plentiful and the shop assistant is always willing to give you an extra discount if you buy more. If I'm not mistaken, any purchases above $20 receives a free tray of eggs. Imagine all the gorgeous Spanish omelette you could make with those cheap 99cents onions. Ah, perfect in so many ways. Find them just behind Coles, at Edwardston.

With a hand full of stalls both inside and out side the hall, there is variety amongst the small collection. Fresh veggies are in abundance, as are pot plants to inspire your Sunday gardening efforts! There's much needed coffee for a Sunday morning - with delicious cakes to go with it and my absolute favourite thing of all is the old fashioned biscuits and cakes - made just the way grandma does! There are also some great lunch options - and apparently the best gourmet hot dog in the hills, so I'll have to come back with an empty stomach some time. The market could certainly do with more energy and vibrancy - it can seem cold and dull in the hall at times - even some music could brighten up the mood. Outside, in the food area, there is great energy - they need more of this to lift the rating from a three to a four (or even five if they get good enough - and depending on how good those hot dogs are!!!)
