This is my first time in a Pandora store period. Sure, I've heard of them but never went in one…read moreuntil now. I was trying to think of something to get my mom for for her milestone birthday (yes, all birthdays are milestones but you know what I mean). My sister got her theatre tickets, a day at the spa, dinner and a cruise. I guess she's trying to prove that she's the good one [insert eye roll]. Anyway, it didn't take long before Pandora popped into my mind. This location is not too far from my job so I went on a Friday after work. It was it was empty except for one other customer and then all of a sudden, it got crowded (the employees called it the Friday evening rush). Salesperson Shahgol assisted me and I think she did a great job. I was interested in getting a bracelet with a charm that had my mom's birthstone. She showed me an already created set called the Elegance Collection. I thought it was perfect and the additional birthstone charm when well with it. As luck would have it, there was a promotion in the store--if your purchase is at least $125 dollars, you get a free ring (value up to $65). Since my purchase was double, I got two rings. Shahgol said that I could give my mom the other ring. Umm, no--the bracelet is for mom, the rings are for me! I can't believe that it took me this long to go into Pandora. I think you could fine just about anything in here in terms of jewelry. The customer service was great. I'm already looking forward to my next visit to Pandora.

This was yet another great experience at Catbird! I came in already knowing the necklace I wanted to get and having an idea of a few rings I wanted to try on. I came on a Friday morning right by opening. Parking in Georgetown is definitely challenging; but you can find free street parking ~0.3-0.7 miles away in the residential areas if you circle around a bit and walk over. There was one employee there when I arrived and she was incredibly attentive, friendly, and helpful! They didn't have the Sylvie Medallion I wanted in stock but given that the necklace has an engraving option, this made sense. I wanted to come in and try it on though to gauge size of the pendant itself as well as figure out which chain length I wanted. The employee who was present totally understood this and produced another necklace pendant that was the same size and measured it with a ruler to double check, pulled out the exact chain I was thinking of and let me try out different samples wearing the necklace. I was able to pick out the chain I wanted and confirm the necklace was the size I wanted. I also tried on a bunch of rings to narrow down what I wanted and she was so patient with me as I tried several rings in multiple sizes to determine what fit and looked the best paired with my current stack. This location has a lot of jewelry on site, but if you're coming from far maybe call in advance just in case if you want to carry the jewelry out of store. I was able to order my necklace in store and have it shipped to my home with the custom engraving I wanted so that worked for me.

We scheduled an appointment and was greeted by the staff. She told us how everything worked and the options available for what kind of bracelets we wanted. I really like how they can size down and repair your permanent bracelet if it were ever to break, giving me a sigh of relief. For the included service that come with the purchase, it's worth it for me. However, the gold is charged at a premium, so I wouldn't come here just for regular jewelry.

We showed the scarf to the young woman at the register and asked the difference, she quickly responded "The Color" and when presented with the differing tags (18$ vs 35$) she observed the labels were affixed incorrectly. We asked if she would honor their mistake at $18 and we'd also buy the correctly marked scarf for $35. She would not honor the merchandise as priced and we left. We have bought many gifts from this shop as it is on the way to our metro stop. Pretty disappointing that they wouldn't make a sale for marked merchandise.

I decided to take a mid-afternoon (ahem) coffee break and almost walked right by this little boutique, thought I'd noticed a bunch of shiny dangly items in the window, so I spun on my heels and walked straight in. Here's the story if you haven't been to a Lou Lou boutique before; it's a local "chain" in the sense that they have half a dozen of these boutiques scattered across NW DC, Alexandria and Arlington and they carry an eclectic range of jewelry, hair accessories, scarves, bags and pretty little thingamajigs that you probably don't need. But they're adorable and very much on trend without being bizarrely over the top. It's a good thing that they're very affordable so if you're looking to update your style but don't want to go all out and pick up that neon encrusted bib necklace last seen on Anna Wintour; you could probably find something like it at Lou Lou's at a far, far more affordable price point. Basically this is fast fashion for you. Unlike the Dupont location, this store isn't overwhelmingly loaded with inventory and it's a lot less crowded so the staff can actually help you find something. Also they seem to cater to a slightly more work friendly wardrobe which means you're more likely to see something that's understated and classy as opposed to gigantic disco balls that are supposed to be earrings. Oh and they have a great selection of Baggu bags from Brooklyn and a good range of Ray Ban sunglasses, so if you feel like you're losing touch with your inner hipster, this is worth checking out.

They converted an old historical building into a large bookstore. As soon as you enter the store you feel the classic renovation and great vibes. Other Barnes and Noble have the same regular retail feel but this location has a vintage originality that you don't find anywhere else. There were three floors filled with books of varying types. It was surprisingly filled with college kids and tourists who were in the area. I was like a kid in the candy store. I went from browsing nonfiction to graphic novels to self-help books. I was able to find a seat and spend my evening going through a good classic self-help book. The only downside was that it was almost nine and the store was closing. I had to head down and make my way out. I wished I had a longer stay in DC to come back here. Most of the Barnes and Noble stores in my area were closing down so it was great to experience a classic bookstore again.
