This was my first time visiting BV Nail Spa. I had seen the two-star rating and read some not-so-great reviews beforehand, but I still wanted to give it a shot and form my own opinion -- because I feel like oftentimes people only leave reviews when they've had a bad experience. But on the flip side, we often forget to give places their proper flowers when we actually have a good one. The salon itself is clean, peaceful, and has a nice ambiance. I called ahead to check availability, and they told me to come in. I let them know I'd be there in five minutes, and when I arrived, I was seated immediately -- no wait, which I appreciated. I received a fill, a cut down, and had two nails fixed. Kenny did my nails. He was quiet, very gentle, and seemed to genuinely listen to what I wanted. That said, I did leave feeling a little unsure. One hand looks noticeably shorter than the other, and the shape isn't exactly the almond I asked for -- they look wider than expected. My fingers are naturally a little crooked, so maybe that played a part, but the inconsistency is definitely noticeable. From far away, my nails look cute -- cool even. But up close, you can really see the unevenness, which is a little disappointing. Another thing I didn't love was being charged for using a credit card. My total ended up being $58 plus tip, even though over the phone, they quoted me $51. The manager did tell Kenny to notify me if there were any changes in pricing, but he never mentioned it. I didn't press the issue since it wasn't a huge jump, but it still felt a little off. Also -- sidenote -- I just moved back to Syracuse after 13 years in Charlotte, and it seems like this whole "charging extra to use a card" thing is common here. I personally think it's corny. They do have an ATM inside that charges $0.99, but I'm just not a fan of being charged to access my own money. So if you plan on going, I'd recommend bringing cash. They also have a QR code for Vemo at the front desk, and they do offer a rewards program -- I signed up for it, but I forgot to ask how it works or what you need to do to actually earn rewards. All in all, I'd rate my experience a 6.5 out of 10. It wasn't horrible. The ambiance was nice, the service was gentle, and I was seen quickly. My nails aren't terrible -- they're fine from a distance, but up close, the flaws are obvious. I might give them one more try, just to see if it was an off day. read more

I came for a dip powder and gel pedicure. The dip powder lasted less than a week. It was the thinnest layer I have ever seen. I had to refill them because they were not even. The pedicure never fully dried and I have a lump. It was a waste of $120 for me. The best thing was the glass of wine. The man that did my nails was kind but maybe inexperienced or rushing. The vibe was calming until the music was cut off at 5:30pm. I know I came at 4:40 and they close at 6pm. Closing at 6pm on a Saturday is unconventional to me. I went here for a manicure and pedicure with a friend. We had an appointment and were taken in for a pedicure fairly quickly. The pedicure was very well done and efficient, and the massage chairs were a bonus. We had to wait a bit for a manicure, but once it began it was also efficient. The UV nails feel sturdy, but are not the most even. The design on the manicure is also a tad uneven, but very pretty besides. The prices were a bit high in my opinion, but the ambiance was good. My friend booked us pedicures today and we were treated quite rudely, I'm not sure why. I had Nina doing my pedicure, and at the end my friend and I were rushed out before our nails were dry. During my pedicure, Nina shook her head when I said something hurt (as if annoyed) when clipping the sides of my nail, and just appeared generally annoyed. I'm not sure who did my friend's pedicure, but we were waiting to check out at the front (someone was ahead with the manager paying) and Nina took my friends card out of her hand without even asking. They also apparently don't offer wine anymore, only for private parties? And the manager said it had always been that way, which doesn't seem accurate based on prior experiences. We had gone a couple months ago and it was great - we were offered wine and treated kindly. I never had a good experience prior for manicures - I tried dip with tips and they were lifting and poorly done. I've been so frustrated looking around and trying out what feels like 10000 different nail salons in Syracuse. I remember always liking BV nails when they were in the mall, so I figured I would give them a try, especially since they just opened up in DeWitt! Walking in I was legit blown away! I love love love the ambiance in here! Everything is brand new and very clean! We walked in and were greeted by the owner (I think?), anyways he was so friendly!!! He had us check-in on their Ipads which was so new and cool!! I love that because now in the future when I check-in I can see when I came last and what I got. My mother and I wanted dip nails and pedicures. The nice gentleman walked us back and had us sit down for our pedis - this place is so huge there were actually quite a few people in here and it didn't even feel like it. So we sat down and were confused because we didn't pick out our colors yet. He then handed us these 'nail books' with all the colors in there so we didn't have to walk around to a wall to find what we wanted. This was so awesome because I haven't seen any places do this. NEXT - he brought us champagne - instant happiness! A few ladies came right over and started our pedis. They were so friendly and professional and happy!!! It was great to see the staff smiling and happy, you don't see that at many places anymore. So next we sat down for our manicures and I was worried because I am a psycho when it comes to my nails or perfectionist I should say... I had Lineh, pronounced 'Lyn' (I might have the spelling wrong). She was awesome - literally all my worries went out the door when she could leave my tips on and put new dip on, she was even explaining to me her process a little bit. I feel that your policy for long nails is incorrect and not posted. my nails are not considered long and this was the first time in my 5 months that I was charged $47 instead of the $41 that I've been paying . I went today and got a full set w/gel polish and a spa pedicure w/gel polish. Paid $103 total not including the tip. I got home and happened to look underneath my nails and they looked horrible. The tips are not even placed on the tip of my nails, there are large gaps in between the acrylic and my nails, great playground for fungus. I went back to resolve my issue the lady claimed that I didn't get them done there two hours prior, then she offered me a $10 gift certificate. This is my first time getting my nails professionally done in about 10 years. I went for a regular mani-pedi (no gels, just regular polish). I was a walk-in, so I had to wait about 30 minutes to go back. My technician was Mia, and she was really nice and skilled. She did a great job, dealt with me being awkward and not knowing how this service goes, and was very attentive to details. I came away with great looking nails. I would definitely go back (though I'll make an appointment next time so I don't have to wait forever). The space itself is very large, clean, and nice. The decor is nice (with some tacky elements). They enforce COVID protocols, with masks for everyone (regardless of vaccine status), sanitizer, and plastic barriers. read more

I would give a negative star review if I could. BV nails & lounge was my first terrible nail experience. While the place inside is beautiful and grand, the staff / manager cut corners behind the tables to make more profit for themselves, at the sacrifice of their client's hygiene. When I was at my nail appointment, I saw a staff member wipe acetone on her nail file in between clients - I didn't think anything of it at the time... but now I have a raging nail infection!! I work at a health care clinic and my provider confirmed this infection. I went back to the nail salon to get compensation aka my money back because now I have an infection and need to buy antibiotics!! I spoke with the manager at the salon, and he brushed me off completely and told me I had a skin issue! He thinks proceeded to tell me he couldn't do anything for me because 'the computer system is down' and he can't help me. He then picks up the phone and starts scheduling an appointment on the computer. What a disgusting reaction honestly. He told me I couldn't get a refund because 'no refund policy' and then 'the computers were down'. He kept ignoring / not talking to me by picking up the phone so I decided to go on their ipads they use for check in and found the refund policy... surprise surprise, I could absolutely get a refund according to their policy but the manager just didn't want to! I hope all the young girls I saw in the salon see this! Do not go there, you will get a nail infection or worse! Plenty of nail salons are stand-up and don't cut corners - BV nails & lounge has no values or ethics! I should have known to not go there based off of the reviews online, lesson learned. read more

Warning! Do NOT go to this salon. It's sad that I have to post this, but I had 4 big issues on my last appointment: 1. They overcharged me by over $20. They are stating they used Gel polish, well I specifically requested regular polish as Gel polish doesn't stay on my nails well. And I know they used regular polish, because they didn't use the lamp. I was in so much pain and mortified by the situation I paid and left. I didn't realize the overcharge until in my car. 2. I made my appointment in advance, asked for someone that specializes with injuries. I have a bad ankle, so I needed someone that was gentle and good with details. I was given a tech that was so rough and didn't speak English, so there was a major language barrier. I tried! While sitting in the salon, I literally had to take pain medication because she was so rough. I tried to explain to her what she was doing that caused pain, but with no to little success. And then they acted frustrated with me. 3. I had an appointment, however had to wait 30 minutes. 4. I called to explain the situation to a manager, and "Alex" was extremely rude. Repeatedly kept cutting me off, said he would "make it right next time" and make sure I'm with an experienced nail tech. I asked what the over charge and he refused to reimburse. He was extremely argumentative. He did clarify next time he would give me a small discount. Umm, sir you OVERCHARGED me, I would like to be fully reimbursed. Ps. It was my Birthday, and I was just trying to have a little self care birthday enjoyment. I'm truly sad because I had previously had enjoyable experiences and it's a beautiful salon. I had a horrible experience last time! I got My nails done on a Friday (tips with dip powder) and by Tuesday, one had fallen off completely. I just moved to this area and I was hopefully looking for a new nail salon. The aesthetic of this salon really drew me in with the giant chandeliers and luxurious set up. I came in on 08/13 needing a simple set of stiletto matte black dip nails. After explaining the shape of a stiletto to the nail tech I was still hopeful regardless of the first red flag. The nail tech continued to file down my natural nail to where it started burning. Still hopeful I contributed it to my natural nail maybe being too thin. Then after the tips were applied the nail glue adhered to my skin so when the tip was cut to form the shape my actual skin got caught in the scissors and cut me. Even after all of these red flags, I still was hopeful. My set only got 2 coats of the dip and 1 coat of the matte top coat. As you can imagine this was really not enough. That night my top coat already started peeling and I had to swing by target and buy the OPI matte top coat to add another layer. I paid $46(+$10 tip) on Thursday for the set of nails. On Saturday 08/15(yes just two days after I got my nails done !) two of the tips broke off. The next day a third tip broke off. I would have stopped into the salon to get them fixed, but they were closed so on Monday 08/17 I went back in to get 3 nails fixed that broke after 3 days. I got another nail tech that was criticizing how bad my nails looked. She commented on how thin they were and how misshaped they came out. She then asked me where I got my nails done with which I proceeded to tell her that I had gotten them done at the same place. The questions and comments stopped after that. Finally I got 3 new nails and was ushered up to the front where I was asked to pay $15 for my nails to get fixed. Yes they asked me to pay for 3 new nails after I just paid $46, 4 days prior for a full set. I'm 25 years old and have been getting my nails done since I was 12. I know that they won't always come out perfect and some will break or chip, but I have never had a salon ask me to pay nails that shouldn't have broken after 3 days. I also got no apology from any of the nail techs or the manager, and was treated as a nuisance rather than a potential returning customer. I was extremely disappointed to where I wasted ever more time writing this review (&I never write reviews ). STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. When we first walked in we were greeted by a nice man who had us check in on the tablets, took our temps and had us sanitize (VERY GOOD COVID PROCEDURES) we then picked out our colors from the cutest little color book. first we did our pedis everything was so clean and each tool was individually wrapped and sanitized, THE BEST MASSAGE CHAIRS the staff is so nice and takes their time on every single thing to ensure that u have the best experience. then we did our manicures they are to die for the attention to detail in this place is so on point. overall we both left saying that we wish this place was at home would come back every other week if we could :) read more
