And the amount of dust, hair, rubber bands, spoons, ect that was pulled out of the system was unreal. As for the pricing, a previous reviewer wrote that it was very confusing and not right. I have to strongly disagree. All I had to do was ask ahead of time, count my vents, ducts, and returns. I came out with a price that was true as well as more affordable than any other company we looked at. The person that wrote the bad review also clearly failed to buy the Groupon online and was supposed to pay Vlad in person but seemed to get upset by that. Can't just mention it and expect to get the killer discount, you have to actually purchase the Groupon or at least pay the discounted price. Treat others like you would like to be treated. Chris's Insulation came up, he had great ratings, he was super close by, so after calling a different service and going to voicemail, I called Chris. Chris picked up after the second ring. When I told him that I needed someone to clean our dryer vent and what had happened, he said he could come out either between 5:00 and 6:00 pm that evening or the next day. It was already mid-afternoon when I called, so I was surprised to hear him say he could still come out same-day, but I decided to have him do that since I was free and also still a little shaky following what happened with the vent either smoking or steaming. The gas furnace was about 25 years old and rated for a 1000 sqft home and the ductwork under the house was ripped and torn. Our house wasn't heating, our gas bill was $400 a month alone. Instead of trying to fix the current system, we wanted to upgrade to AC/heat and modernize with ceiling vents. We landed on a hybrid system: 4 ton variable heat pump outside, a backup gas furnace in the attic, whole house filter, 2 zones for the house because of our layout with two gen 4 nest thermostats, r8 ductwork, 15 ceiling vents, 2 air intakes, and all the permits. Their quote included a 3 year warranty on labor, whereas the other 4 companies were only 1 year. Nice bonus perk. The project took 5 full days to complete, and they are coming back Monday for a partial day for final touch ups. Anson came by same day and walked through the property with me, getting the full picture of what we would need. He literally drew everything out, saying it's very important that I understand what is going on because it is permanent. Anson cleared up a ton of questions I had. We talked over vent location, system size, zoning, equipment, everything. He took his time and was very patient. The quote he gave was very competitive to the other 4 I received. Brandon came at a short notice and gave me a quote and said he can come and start the work in 2 days. The other companies I got the quote could only come after 5 days, some of them after 1 week. He also pointed out that my attic insulation is old and thin. And since he has to clean the attic (there were some mouse activities there too) he suggested it's not a lot of extra cost to put the whole new insulation. (I have been feeling cold in the house due to the old insulation so was happy to replace with a new one taking this opportunity). The crew (2-3 people) came for 2 days and fixed all the holes with the mesh in the basement, crawlspace and the attic. Cleaned the droppings, vacuumed the whole place, sanitized and set the traps. They even cleaned the duct in the house. It was a lot of money but with the amount of work they did, I was very happy. I bought the house 1.5 years ago and I wanted these things done anyway (duct cleaning, new insulation) so the mouse control was a good reason to tackle all of them.
