Excellent facilities for track days both for motorcycles and cars. The track is technically challenging with several good configurations. Supporting facilities are also excellently kept including a cafe and most importantly the restrooms. With a pending new track built on the western side of the property, many fans are looking forward to spending some quality time here. read more

I like this track. It is a bit bumpy but fun. Has cafe with food until 2. Has RV water and electric hookups. Gets hot in the summer!

Not a fan of this track for several reasons- the #1 reason being theft! I have a Tesla and have raced here as part of the Teslacorsa events. One person had their charging cord stolen while he was on the track in broad daylight (and he was the only Tesla there that day- not Teslacorsa) and then a few days ago for Teslacorsa 12, someone stole 2 charging cords from an attendee. These cords are expensive due to demand- people wanting to be able to charge at home due to Covid and also because there isn't enough supply available to meet the demand. The cords were taken toward the end of the day as the park was closing up. I have never heard of thefts at other tracks, and people have left very expensive equipment and belongings out. #2 reason for dislike- this track is flat, dusty, and does not have good corner markers. If you've tracked anywhere else, then you'd know that other tracks like Laguna seca and Sonoma are way better in this regard. It is not uncommon for folks to drift here and this causes dust clouds that make it impossible for others behind to see- which is very unsafe. I have seen the most cars towed and totaled at this track than any other in California. People are saying that this track is safe but it really is not and I would never recommend it for a beginner. This track is more for intermediate and advanced drivers. The only pro I can give for this track is that it is midway for N and S CA folks and it has Tesla superchargers close by. Can we please get security cameras set up? Can we please put up signs saying theft is not tolerated and that cars are subject to inspection upon exit? Can we send an email out letting people know that thefts have been taking place so the thieves might stop? Thievery is not acceptable and people need to be warned!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

Buttonwillow is located about 1/2 way between the San Fracisco Bay Area and Los Angeles so a little far for both to be a day trip track day. It's also hot there. That's the end of the bad news. I drove this track for the 1st time yesterday & it was quite fun. About 25 turns, 3 straight aways, & 2 blind hills. Wish I was closer read more

Buy a car turn it into a track car. Talk about going. No JUST GO! With Speed Ventures would be ideal for anyone who wants to get on the race track for real. It's a bit of a drive but it's pretty worth it. I got to say the vibe and people here are great. We left our cars and tools out let people barrow them if needed. Everyone is nice and friendly and just car people out here to have fun. It's a pretty good time. Just note some people are super hardcore and someone might bring there stock car but it's all fun at end of the day. Speed Ventures setup up events right; water, rentals helpful people just note it's not cheap but it's pretty worth it. If you have a car and it's ready for the track give it a shot. It's a great track tons of dirt to roll out on. You don't have the be the fastest but be respectful to other drivers; allow them to pass you. You can watch the events and check out super cool cars at these events. There is food and water good bathrooms. It's a very well run event. You can get a instructor if you want it can be good for newbies or even pros. If you ever want to check out a Race Track I would make the drive down to buttonwillow it's a great track. I did 568 miles round trip here and back and my car had 0 issues so it was a huge win for me. Even tho my times sucked I had fun. I'm getting a driver mod soon don't worry. read more

Yelp Challenge 2015. 215 /365 Located about 150 miles north of Orange County, in stinkville, and in the middle of nowhere. Yea it stinks around here so roll up those windows and shut the sun roofs. Once you get to the track it is not as stinky. Until the wind shifts. ohhhhhh my....stinky winky, manure galore....It gets better once the smell of gasoline, clutches, breaks and rubber fill the air. And it is home of the flies. Wish I had a fly swatter. Luckily my dog is real good at catching them. She likes catching them. My husband and fellow car enthusiasts rented the facility. They had the whole track to themselves. We organized the event. Brought in our own PA system, timing system, wifi, table and chairs. Our group had a good time and a lot of track time. Little shade, and in September it is still hot. Luckily we came prepared with our EZ-ups and chairs. Still it was about 100 degrees. For about $75 you can rent a garage, turn it into a hang out for non drivers, or a place to park your car. There is one covered community area to find relief from the heat. As well as an covered viewing area upstairs to watch the cars on the track. On site, there is a snack shack with covered picnic tables. Lady inside is super nice, and made sure everyone was happy. Food is moderately priced. Hot dogs, burgers, teriyaki plates are available. Along with healthy options like salads, bananas and yougert for healthy people. If you smoke, which is disquisting, they have designated smoking cans to disgard your butts. Bathrooms are okay. Pots to sit on and stand at in each room. You can double up, if you'd like. Sinks to clean up are located on the side of the building. Facility is dog friendly. Plenty of things to smell and dirt to pee in. Lots of dirt and dust, not a good place for chinelas. #699 read more

Caveat- Speed Ventures set up and ran the event. One con-$10 per person to park. Like, $10 per person in the car. Unsure if this is normal, as this is my first time out to an event anywhere. Track was fantastic. Great fun- between 2-3min. per lap depending on the driver & the car. I think there are many set-ups, but the configuration of the day I was there was CW 13 (clockwise 13?). Phil's Hill is especially fun. Eses- also an interesting part, except setting up go to into it. That was a bit tough for a novice like myself. Check out the maps online: http://buttonwillowraceway.com/track-info/track-maps/. Since it was my first time there, I was concerned about safety, but every time someone got a bit too happy and took the car out into the mud, a towing vehicle was out pretty promptly, and the race itself was unimpeded. Garages were clean- bring your own trash bags. People were friendly. Food was not terrible, although the wait can be long. Great experience. read more

First time and the event was Performance Driving Clinic Day, which occurs 3x per year. $195 for the day which includes lunch. The event includes class time and track time with an instructor then on your own. You are separated into beginners and returning students. You alternate in 20 min intervals between class time and track time. Helmets required, also available for rent for $15. They allow passengers/spectators on regular track days but not for this event related to insurance. I don't think renting a garage ( $100) is a must for this event because you keep moving from classroom to track. You put your belongings on the grass behind where you park- "your pit". There isn't much shade. You can bring a canopy for shade. Some people bring chairs or/& a cot or picnic blanket. Other things you may want to bring: cooler with a lot drinks, air pressure gauge tool for tires, torque wrench, & top off oil. Some people bring way more items and some people bring less. You always seem to need what you did not bring. People are generally very nice there and willing to help. I also recommend bringing a wedge to prevent the car from rolling in neutral if your car is manual. Unexpected things can happen. They have a tire shop on site which close at 330pm. Tow trucks like AAA are not allowed to tow cars at all tracks but will come to this one because it is also considered a "school." Bathrooms were clean enough and I only saw one spider. The food was just ok. It was hot. Stay hydrated. Play nice & Be safe. read more

Buttonwillow is super fun track and safe to drive. Off is not bad--just some sand. The food is very good, there is a tire shop on-site and a gas station. A friend signed up for their Performance Driving Clinic, bringing his 2012 Boss 302 Mustang and I came along for the ride. I've driven here once before, but it's been a few years. This time, unfortunately I was only a spectator. There were a lot of GREAT sounding cars to watch as they drove through the pits and on the track! There were a number of Mustangs, Corvettes (FOUR Z06's and a 638hp ZR1), A new Camaro SS (RENTED that morning!!!), many BMW M3's, two Honda S2000's, Subaru WRX, turbo'd Mazda Miata's, Mitsubishi Evo, Nissan 370 Z's, Infinity G35, a mini cooper, VW Golf, even a Volvo C30! This was my enjoyment for the day since I was NOT driving! They have nice facilities, a great track and their Driving Clinic looks to be a VERY GOOD thing! There's a good amount of both classroom AND track time.... my buddy put 150 miles on his car JUST ON THE TRACK! The program and track are well run, and safety, is of course paramount. My only issue is IT WAS FRIKKEN HOT OUT THERE! Like 95! SHEESH! Here's a video, ENJOY! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xa9ncQhmL5M&feature=youtu.be read more

I feel the need ... the need for speed! Years ago, when friends introduced me to track days for my motorcycle, I was hooked instantly. It's an avenue where I can let everything go, and just ride as fast as I want to - without a care in the world. No asshat cagers; no squids on motorcycles; no pedestrians and no road imperfections or construction aftermath. Just nice smooth corners to rail around and straightaways to open the throttle wide. Organization will all depend on the business running the track event but for the most part, I've never had an issue. The track isn't highly technical but it's definitely not a Nascar oval so it allows riders to hone their skills. Buttonwillow Raceway isn't located in a particularly appealing part of the state and there isn't a lot of things to do nearby - but that's not the point of coming here. It's to ride fast and take chances! Seriously - it's to have fun on in a safe environment. I always do! read more

Perhaps coming to watch a race versus actually doing a race with an organization like NASA may be completely different experiences, at which time I may revise this review but I didn't really think Buttonwillow lived up to my expectations as much as I thought it would from people talking about it. Overall, it's kind of an old track with lots of unfinished areas and places that could use some definitely renovation. It's very hot and there are no trees or any other types of greenery around when you're at Buttonwillow. Everything is very dusty and yellow; sort of an unpleasant gray sometimes when the sun isn't quite all the way out. The bathrooms here are only okay, kind of dirty at times and the amenities are definitely lacking in comparison to some other tracks in the middle of nowhere. read more

Love this track. It's close to LA and only a 3.5 hour drive from San Francisco. Pro's is that there are no concrete barriers or walls so if you go off track, you will be okay. You probably won't need to buy track insurance for this track as you really can't hit anything but another car. Con's is that is it super flat. No elevation changes just a lot of turns. For the people spectating, go to the second floor observation deck. It is enclosed and gives you a great view of the entire track. It's heated in the winter and has plugs so you can charge your devices. Food wise, it is okay. There isn't much unless you leave and are willing to drive at least thirty minutes so bring your own snacks and don't come hungry. The burgers were ok. The salad was the best thing...really fresh and lots of fresh tomatoes! read more

Going down the highway doing 54..........Ok Going down the race Track do 154!!!! Haha!!! Love coming here! Plenty of space to set up for any team or guest. Entrance is usually about $10 bucks when we come out to the race events. Staff is always nice and love the rentals on garages and Golf Carts! Inside the building is a gift shop and a place to buy fresh food and cold beverages! The track stays clean most of the time but when someone spins off have no fear their team is there! came here to support the bf. as for the track, great track layout. pavements are good. lots of runoff in case you make a mistake. pay an additional 10 bucks pp to get in. clean facility. lots of clean restrooms. staff are nice! they have a onsite grill. prices for food is high but not superly over priced. pretty reasonable. hot dog $3.75, breakfast sandwich containing egg, ham, and cheese for $5.00, etc. there's utensils that are laid out on the side table. they also sell chips, muffins, tea, coffee, gatorade, fountain drinks, etc. *next time when i come back, im dying to try the turkey sandwich. my 3 friends recommended this! bbq beef brisket was decent. not the best i've had. the breakfast sandwich [ham, cheddar cheese, and egg] was good but tasted extra great with ketchup. tips: *big paddock. *onsite fuel is available. *rentable garages. *if you want pictures of you tracking there are always photographers on site. *plenty of trashcans located around the facility. *wear sunblock *bring some chairs to sit on *short on $ then pack your own food/drinks. *be prepared to smell a lot of tires and hear a lot of vrooming! *i've been told, it either gets really hot or really cold here. so dress accordingly. read more

Kind of in the middle of nowhere in my opinion, but I'm from OC. Went to speed Ventures event. I got to be passenger in my other half's car. They were all very organized with check in, groups, group meetings, rental stuff. The track is pretty cool. Not super huge track but has small hill, esses, and plenty of fun turns. We had the "opportunity" of trying the track in the rain. We were a bit timid, but they were even very organized about cars on track too with the flags and keeping things under control. We had some fries at the food court thing. They were actually pretty good. They also have garages for rent to park car and storage. They have transponders too that you can rent for lap timers. Definitely had a good time here and would come back if the opportunity arises. read more

For a track that's in the middle of nowhere, it's a VERY nicely kept track compared to a bigger one like Willow Springs. The only other nice facility track I've been to is Auto Club Speedway, but the price tag to track there is VERY steep. I was impressed by all the nice facilities that came with this track and just by how clean everything was. Their gate fee is $10.00 per person, paid at the front, CASH ONLY. I also rented a garage for the day when I tracked on July 15th 2017 for a flat fee of $100 which I thought was very acceptable if you split with friends (easily fits 5-6 motorcycles per garage if you want more remaining seating area for spectators, if not, 8 bikes will fit). The ones closer to the track entrance are smaller and the ones we rented out was the size of two car garage. The garages were spacious and also came with plenty of outlets (something I really liked) that totaled 8 plug ins so it was easy for us to set up fans and phone charging stations. It's also not too far to the meeting area and restrooms. They had an awesome large patio area that is setup with misters for summer days and their indoor Tower Cafe that serves different dishes like teriyaki chicken bowls and burgers. Is the food the best? Probably not, but the fact that you have options and it's decent food, nothing to complain about. It's A/C'ed, spacious with plenty of seating, clean and has easily accessible utensil and condiment table provided. Although I hear that there are no indoor restrooms at the Tower Cafe. We had lunch there and were very comfortable. That tower is also where spectators can get a full view of the track on the second level (stairs on the side) and you'll be in shade. It was my first time there so the track was new to me, first time out was a little hard since it felt really foreign AND that each turn is named rather than numbered so I had a hard time remembering what was what, but eventually started to grow on me and by day's end I was having so much fun on the track. Their off-ramp/off-camber right turn has this strange patch that was filled in with concrete rather than asphalt so it's strange to ride though, it's very bumpy. By pass it with a wider turn, hit your apex and throttle out. Definitely would recommend it to others, if only they were closer it'd be nice to come more often since it's a 2.5 hour drive for us from LA (may not seem far to some, but have to realize the closest track to us is 25 minutes to Auto Club Speedway lol). read more

Thunderhill was a lot of fun, but something about it made me a little queasy, driving on that track. This was the third track I've been on and hadn't experienced that before, so I'm not sure if it was some combination of the track layout, or the incredible heat (over 100 most of the day, lots of people cut out early). Almost no walls, so it can give you the confidence to push your skills (and lots of people did, there were lots of washouts on a particular hill visible from the classroom buildings). I drove this course with the SpeedSF school. One advantage of this raceway was that they have a skidpad for drifting practice, available as a separate package (probably around $60 /day) if you only want to stay on the skid pad. Also, because it has no walls, it's much more beginner friendly (beginner as in new to racing, or new to the car). read more

Great track and facility we test here once a month. Don't hesitate to go you'll love it!

Buttonshithole - I MEAN Buttonwillow - we have a love hate relationship. Frankly, I love to hate it! This track just does nothing for me. No elevation changes, no real technical turns, no real redeeming qualities (except for maybe the wheelie bump just after Grapevine). In the morning, turn 2 feels like someone spilled KY Jelly all over it - it's slick and dirty like a Thai prostitute on a Monday after fleet week. The track in general is dirty, windy and, did I mention HOTTER than HELL? Sure it's a fast track, sure it's cheap, but not worth my money to drive out to. If you do go, rent one of the garages - they're totally worth it when the scorching sun hits full blast and the winds kick in. And, if you do a trackday on the weekend, they charge you $10 to enter! That's totally lame... read more

Good times at Buttonwillow. Track days are always fun to go to. Head up there the night before, stay at a bad hotel, wake up early, and watch people potentially crash into one another (always looks that way from far away). It's hot as heck and don't forget to bring your canopy, cooler, chairs, drinks, portable dvd player, and whatever else you may need. You're not going to find anything up there so take everything with you. There were all sorts of cars on the track. Z's, Corvettes, Ashton Martins, and more. Unbelievable! I can't wait to go back. I got to ride in my guy's race car during the warm-ups in the morning. The maximum MPH during warm-up period was 70. By the third lap around, I was screaming to be let out of the car. I cannot believe that during real race time, they hit 120+ MPH! Someone said, "Hey, what's the big deal? How fast do you drive on the freeway?" Let me tell you, driving on a 4-lane freeway without needing more than a pinky to keep the steering wheel straight is nothing compared to barreling down a straightaway into a hairpin turn that immediately becomes a bunch of S-curves at the same said speed. Sheesh. But I digress. My guy had a blast on this track. It's a simple place that can barely be seen from the freeway, but clean and with all the amenities the racing enthusiast needs. With me being the girl that I am, I came prepared with food and drinks in a cooler. While everyone else paid too much money for not-so-great cafeteria food, we made ourselves some fresh sandwiches. I even allowed us a big bag of Cheetohs, which is the type of junk food we normally stay away from -- but the bag and the Cheetohs matched the color of his race car! Yeah, only a girl would think this. As for the boring drive up or down I-5, get adventurous and take one of the side routes to 101! You can extend your drive time by stopping in Paso Robles, heading along the coast, or visiting Pinnacles. Happy driving. read more

Impressive track. Went here to watch my BFF race his LeMon around the track. While the race track is not really built for spectators, you still can get a pretty good view of most of the track from the tower. Running back and forth I was able to get quite a few good shots. I didn't drive the track, so i can't say how good the track is, but it looked like a pretty good technical drive. The snackbar (cash only) is a rip-off for what you get, but what can you do - captive audience, and you should be smarter than to go to a race day without packing a lunch. Duh. read more

This is definitely my new favorite race track to drive on. After years of frequenting events at Willow Springs International Raceway, I was blown away by how fancy the place looked. The restrooms are very similar to the ones you would find at a beach. Not as nice as the ones at WSIR but you can tell they get cleaned frequently. Cafeteria area is very nice. Although the food isn't the best quality or the best value, it gives racers the option to squeeze in a quick lunch in between run sessions. Like many race tracks, it is far away from civilization so don't expect great cell phone service. On the positive note, there is free WIFI in cafeteria that is pretty quick so you can brag about your fast laptimes on social media. The only problem I have with this track is fuel. Gasoline on/near the track is very expensive. For cars with small gas tanks like mine, you will find yourself frequently hopping back on the freeway and driving 10 minutes in between sessions for gas. Although WSIR has more tracks available at their facility, Buttonwillow has a modular track that can be set up for different routes. 13CW is all I've tried and I would be happy with only driving that for the rest of eternity. All in all, this is a very nice and well kept track that is an absolute blast to drive one. Can't wait to go back! read more

"Why are we driving all the way out to Butt-fuckin'-Willow?" she asked. "That deal that *** got us was totally worth it," I said, our bikes tall in the back of our truck. "We could do 3 here for the price of 1 at Sears Point." In general, that was our whole day - getting there. Then between dozing in the garage (and yes, the garage is TOTALLY worth it), prepping our bikes and drinking Tecates, we settled down for the evening. Then the day came, as bright as gray can be. It was windy and a few dust clouds rose up to display their feathers as would a peacock of auburn and russet. In general, the track was fine. Nothing remarkable about it. The Ss were fun (they reminded me of turn 11 at T-hill, but lesser so), but for the most part, it took me forEVer to learn this track as it seemed to repeat itself and I had a hard time keeping track of the course (pun intended). The drive back was murder. Had the track been a few hours closer, this would have been an easier sell. I'll consider going back out there, but ffffffffff... lemme think... read more

Great track, but let's face it--Buttonwillow (the city) is pretty jankey. First night I stayed there I got in a fight with a drunk local and had to walk away from my motel room and go stay at the Super 8 across the street because a bunch of truck drivers and lot lizards were having a party in the room next door. (Note to self: when it's standard motel policy to not ask for a credit card....go stay somewhere else). Add to that the fact that Buttonwillow (the city, not the track) smells like rancid meat and raw sewage in the mornings and, well, it's almost preferable to just drive there in the mornings on race day instead of spend the night. Oh yeah--the track--great track, but pretty boring compared to Thunderhill or Reno-Fernley. read more

I was in Bakersfield for a wedding Feb 2, and it reminded me to Yelp about Buttonwillow Raceway... Several of my friends and I came down here for a VW/Audi track event back in May 2006. Actually, after we all signed up, a few of us decided to take our "other car." Seemed there were more "other" cars than Audis in our group. Anyways, I took my 1998 Honda Hatchback as my track car that day, seems it's easier for me to throw around and it's pretty much set up with suspension and track friendly tires. I had a really good experience and I would really go back. Too bad tracking cars can put a big dent in one's wallet otherwise I'd keep going. Anyways, we were all grouped by skill set and all the beginners had instructors. I learned how to look for apexes and all that. I came out a more experienced driver and I feel I gotten to know my car so much better that day than all the years I've had it combined. We were lucky there weren't many cars and the track is pretty long, that I hardly saw other people on the track with me. It was great! It felt I had the track to myself! read more

This review is from the perspective of a motorcycle track day enthusiast. I want to like this track but it has a few big issues working against it. Number one, the layout is a little strange. It feels disjointed and some of the corners do not flow together very well. The surface is not smooth and has a lot of bumpy sections. I did hear they are re-paving the track again so that issue may improve in the future. Living in LA it's hard for me to justify the drive out to Buttonwillow since there are better tracks like Streets of Willow or Auto Club Speedway that are not as far. If you are willing to make a 3 hour drive Chuckwalla is a far better choice in my opinion due to the better flowing layout and much nicer track surface. If you are a track day junkie and need some variety, check out Buttonwillow, but if you only do 1-2 track days a year, I recommend Willow Springs, Auto Club Speedway, or Chuckwalla before going to Buttonwillow. read more

Fantastic motorcycle track! Lots of configurations, including reverse configurations. You never quite know what you're going to get. It can be superfast (reverse configuration but without lost hills and starting from the star Mazda turn yields a near mile of straightaway before Riverside... imagine hitting 160+ mph before having to tip into a 110 mph corner!!), though I prefer the uber-curvy configurations There are several track operators: TheTrackClub.com, zoomzoomtrackdays, keigwins, pacific track time, several others. Easy to get to, though boring as hell on HW 5. It takes a little longer to get to than Thunderhill. Excellent facilities, lots of safety, and one of the best compromises between a very fast track and complicated sinuousness. The lines through the turns are varied and can yield some fantastic racing! Not particularly expensive to attend either. http://www.buttonwillowraceway.com/ read more

The track needs resurfacing. Especially for motorcycle track days. You need to be careful setting up your susspension on this track, as it is very bumpy in places. Also, the lack of reference points on the track made it difficult for me to accurately and consistently hit my braking markers, apexes and exits. After two days I finally felt like I was figuring the track out, but it took more time than other Bay Area tracks for me. read more

I like this particular track more than Willow Springs. Simply because there are more transitions making it a more "technical" track. The ability to reverse track direction or open different parts of the track for another configuration gives so many different options. CW13 is my favorite. I was completely lost trying to go CCW, it really does become a whole new track. Btw, the food at the snack bar is pretty good. They offer a small side salad with their lunches and i recommend it over a bag of chips. It helps since "going into town" is a 20 minute drive south. read more

Great race track. I trekked all the way down there from San Jose in my Miata. A lot farther than it seems! I was really concerned that it would not be worth it. However, I had a great time running with NCRC for this track day. Even though the area is basically flat they do have a small hill. The track is a lot of fun to drive. The "S's" are a unique feature that most tracks don't have (I haven't run Infineon yet). The commissary was pretty good. Unfortunately they didn't plan the corner workers lunches very well so lunch was delayed with huge lines as they had to finish all the CW meals first. The help was really friendly and genuinely interested in how I liked the place as well as making sure I was having a great time. It was fun to see some new cars/drivers as well since the track attracts people from Nor and So CAL. Worth the Drive! Hotels in the area suck. I reviewed the Red Roof Inn seperately. read more
