Love that this school promotes and pushes the kids educationally and makes their learning experience fun. This is one of the only schools that have the G.A.T.E. program from my understanding and they have to bus the other kids from neighboring schools to attend. This school is one of the top elementary schools in Bakersfield, from the kids scoring really well academically to the parents playing a huge role being involved with tons of activities and with teachers participating and pushing the kids to be successful. It's a really clean school and the school strives to stay safe and to keep clean. I have had a lot of ups and downs here, my older son is deaf and most of his years attending Stockdale was always positive, but there were a few teachers who you can tell did not want to spend time with a disabled child or "deal" with it. My son was too advanced to be in a mentally challenged class, but not advanced enough to be in a regular class, so he struggled a lot being in a regular course class. On a positive note, there were many teachers that are amazing people and take the time to create an atmosphere where education was extremely important and there were more teachers like that in this school rather than the bad apples here. I have never had any similar situations with my younger son as he is always academically advanced and that part gives me a lot of mixed feelings. I feel like he had a more fair experience because he wasn't disabled and he did not have to have a whole lot of one on one since he was advanced, but I honestly can't judge that part and say that's why he may have had a better experience because people who have a child with a disability always feel shorted by everyone, so maybe it's just me. Both my kids absolutely loved this school and has had a positive experience here for the most part. Both kids had an opportunity to participate in numerous activities (Band, Chorus, Battle of the Books, Math Field Day, Track and many more). Their most memorable moments had to be their last year when they both went to Camp Keep to experience the outdoors science and education. This gave them an opportunity to gain closer relationships with their peers and to learn a little bit of independence. The school has prevented a lot of traffic problems by utilizing their valet in the front of the school or drop offs at the back of the school, the only thing that still bothers me til this day is when parents drop off their kids at the back of the school, the principal/teachers have had this rule about parents parking in the middle of the road and letting their kids out instead of safely parking and letting their kids out. The principal/teachers have had multiple meetings with parents letting them know this is illegal, yet I honestly feel the principal only allows certain parents to still do that, my suggestion is to make sure your child and everyone elses kids are safe. If you plan to allow your kids to attend Stockdale Elementary, I believe your kids will have one of the best educations in Bakersfield for a public school.

We love the Learning Experience! - They have an app that…read moreupdates you throughout your child's day - Key fob security doors - Take home workbooks from class to continue learning at home - Events where children, parents & teachers can socialize My child has learned so much in the past year she's been enrolled here. She started right after she turned 2 and just turned 3 this month. This past year she's learned to recite her A,B,C's, can count to 20, and even asks questions like "mom, do you think this toy will float?" All children learn at a different pace, and I love how personable the teachers are with learning my child's needs. I am excited to see what else my little one learns this upcoming year as she officially starts preschool.

Where do I even begin about this place. They paint a perfect picture from the inside to the…read moreoutside. But within their staff they have so much to be trained on. My son came here when he was 8 months old and had difficulty reaching some milestones. They treated him like he was a waste of their time. From major injuries that were never related back to their licensing to lying about injuries about my son to me. I had to get licensing involved on this place and full investigations on their negligence. Injuries as bad as my son having to lose two front teeth due to their negligence. They don't value the children and the parents that pay so much money to have their kids enrolled at this center. Their directors are hardly ever there. Kacey had a vendetta against us for no reason. To the point that we were taken off our sons app without even notifying us and missing out on saving photos from those previous months in infant class before we completely took him out of there, they go through "teachers" like crazy. Half of them aren't even teachers. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND this center to a parent. Not after what happened to my son and how we were treated. I will continue to inform every parent as much as I can about the negligence of this center. Don't be fooled by them. My review will of course probably be deleted as other negative reviews have been for this place. Please don't fail to look up their licensing through social services as there have been other reports on there of them being negligent and leaving children unattended in a classroom.
