Throughout my son's fourth-grade year, we determined that his difficulties are connected to dyslexia. I have been exploring affordable resources outside of Columbia Elementary and the Fruitvale School District because, although an assessment has been conducted and a current IEP is in place, I am concerned that the system is overburdened and lacks the necessary resources to adequately support these students on campus. If you are a fellow parent in elementary school seeking support, please consider contacting the tutoring club, which has provided me with a program accommodating our schedule. I am delighted to see my son enjoying the experience and eagerly attending sessions, a testament to the quality of the program. As a frustrated parent within the public school system, I appreciate the value you bring to our community. Thank you for helping us. read more

Very personable, great communication and customer service. My freshman gravitated quick to their tutors.

My husband and I initially signed our child up for tutoring club starting while my kid first started Kindergarten due to unusual signs of struggling in reading and writing from hearsay of my child's teacher. When I first called, I was told immediately how great of a parent I was to call now rather than later because later means it's too late and too hard to catch up. It made me want to sign my child up more knowing I was doing the right thing for my kid. Came to find out my child was showing signs of dyslexia and thankful tutoring club helped my kid out. As of today, I was told if my child came in for help, they would have never known my kid would have dyslexia which is a huge because I was told my kid had the worse dyslexia and it's going to be some work to help my child. They also helped my kid with self-confidence as well which plays a huge factor in learning. So, if I could go back and do it again I would. They have changed my child education in the right direction and my child is finally getting it thanks to the tutoring club. read more

My son was 6 yrs old and in Kindergarten when we initially signed up at the Tutoring Club. We started at 3 times a week for 1 hour, as my son was having challenges with blending sounds and really getting frustrated when trying to read. I felt defeated and didnt know what to do. His teacher highly recommended Tutoring Club and Im so glad we took the leap and met with Amanda. He is now reading at grade level and loves going to the library to check out books and the bookstore to buy books. If your child is having challenges with reading- this is absolutely the place that can assist your child. It's very structured and has a welcoming environment. Take the leap! It's worth every penny. read more

I used to bring both of my kids here for extra help during the summer. I soon realized I was better off ordering the schools curriculum via Amazon and teaching them myself. The lady with the ponytail and glasses is beyond rude! Scolds everyone. Even the people in the parking lot. So gross and tacky. Unprofessional employees. read more

My child is in 2nd grade and started going to Tutoring Club to get help with her reading. She enjoys her time with her tutor and always leaves with a smile on her face. Since starting with them, she has made amazing progress in her reading. She's caught up to her grade level and some! Big thank you to Ms. Amanda, the director, Ms. Andrea and their team for teaching my kiddo with love and encouragement. read more

My son is a high school senior this year and sought help from the tutoring club for SAT prep and college essay review. With two weeks until the SAT exam, the tutoring club was extremely responsive of his need and time constraints and assembled a team of tutors to meet with him for a total of 10 hours before the exam. Tutoring was specific to his need and based on an assessment of his practice SAT test, focusing specifically on where he lacked understanding. The tutors also worked on time management and testing tricks. With this process, my son has built confidence and knowledge and we are hopeful he will improve his score this go round! read more

Bakersfield Tutoring club is a great place for kids who need help in any school subject. My husband coworker told him about the program because our son was struggling with college prep geometry. My son likes the program and the staff member that helps him with his work. Whenever I text for a time slot to get my son in a certain day Amanda always text back with a response. Great place. We brought my daughter in because she was struggling with reading. She was already receiving speech services privately and at school but because of her difficulty hearing and saying sounds, her reading level was low. She was able to jump back up to grade level and now reads above grade level. They made her feel comfortable, not afraid to put in the work. Now two years later, after the pandemic our youngest has struggled with reading. He's been going for just two months now and has almost bumped up a grade level in reading. He still has a way to go but he's more confident now in class and volunteers to read, even if he may not know a word he tries. read more

I can't thank you enough for Amanda, the center's supervisor and this great team of hers. I have been with tutoring club for a couple of years now and since covid , their online classes have been heaven sent. This last spring, it became clear that my son's grades in jr. high were not okay. Nearly all Ds and Fs and he's a smart kiddo. He just wasn't understanding the way in which the curriculum was being taught/presented. As a teacher myself, I originally thought I could mediate his grades and reteach what he had not learned well in his classes in jr. high but, let me just say, that did not play out the way I had envisioned! Realizing the process of me teaching him was going to be stressful for my stubborn and strong will child, I took the step and called Amanda at the Tutoring Club and we spent our summer relearning our jr.high academics in a low stress and fun environment. Fast forward to October and I can not even put into words what it felt like to see that smile on my son's face when he brought home his 8th grade report card...ALL As and just one B. Oh what a difference a few months can make when you have Amanda and Emily from the Tutoring Club helping your kiddo. Emily and Amanda even email with the teachers to make sure all his assignments are turned in/complete. The difference in my boy is amazing and his confidence is soaring and the only thing that really changed is that we added The Tutoring Club to our lives. Far and away the best choice I've made. Amazing business and two very lovely women committed to the success of the kiddos in our community! read more

My son started last year and has come a long way. They worked on all different subjects with him and he has made huge turn around by the end of the school year. He loves the tutors there and they always work with me on last minute schedule changes. They are so kind and great and make my son feel more than welcomed. Best decision I have made to put my son in. My son grew confidence as he improved, which made it all worth it. read more

I am no stranger to the Tutoring Club, as two of my three children have needed them. Hands down the Tutoring Club changed our world and I would highly recommend their services. The staff have always been attentive, friendly, and professional and my boys have always felt like they were part of a family here. Of course, at first they dreaded going to tutoring, but the changes in their attitudes toward school and school work, much to my surprise, came quickly. With a little patience and the true desire to be successful, they both started working harder and improving their grades. Sure, either one of them will slip at any given time, but knowing they have the foundation provided by their tutors, gives them the confidence they need not to fall too far. read more

My daughter starting coming here in the summer of 2017 to help improve her math and reading skills. Not only have I seen a huge improvement in her academics but in her self-esteem as well. Love the staff. They are very friend and easy going. They are doing a wonderful job in improving my daughter reading and writing skills.

Greetings and Salutations, I normally don't write reviews but I had too write this review for the outstanding staff and the director of the tutoring club. My daughter who has always been on the principles list since 1st grade. She started her 5th grade year with a "mean" teacher and combined with her anxiety her grades dropped I tried my best I could to help her, but I my experience in 5th grade was decades ago. Amanda is the true hero here. I met with her she could tell I was beyond stressed about the situation I felt helpless as a parent and it was not a good feeling. I was willing to do whatever it took to help my child succeed since I believe our children are our most important resource. Amanda set us up on a tutoring plan we stuck with it and I am glad to say my daughter will finish her 2022 5th grade year with Principles list ,Honor roll and earned herself a school letter "R". God Bless you Amanda and all the awesome staff at the Tutoring Club! read more

The Tutoring Club has been a great asset to Bakersfield's educational community. As a high school counselor I have seen academic success in students who were struggling in one or more classes before attending tutoring sessions at the Tutoring Club. They not only raised their grades in the classes they were being tutored in but gained more confidence in their academic ability. I have not only seen successful academic turn-arounds in my counselees, but have seen it through my own grandchildren who sought tutoring at the club for upper division math. The success they experienced as a result of attending the Tutoring Club helped them to maintain those important high GPAs for college acceptance. Amanda, the director of the Tutoring Club works very hard at making sure students are matched up with the right tutor as well as accommodating tutorial times to fit the student's busy schedules. The tutors are very professional and very knowledgable in the subjects they are tutoring. read more

The Tutoring Club was a godsend for our family! Our child was struggling in algebra, and was convinced she was "dumb at math." Thanks to The Tutoring Club's instructors and methods, her grades - and attitude - improved dramatically. I highly recommend this wonderful program! read more

I don't know what we would have done without the help of Tutoring Club. Both of my kids used the tutors here for help with Algebra. My daughter especially suffered with test anxiety and a complete lack of confidence in Math. Now she is in college and not only likes Math but excels at it!! Her College Algebra teacher thought she should consider being a Math major!! I cannot thank the Tutoring Club enough for their excellent support. read more

After having numerous scheduled appointments cancelled by the director Amanda, we have decided to go with Sylvan. It is clear by having these appointments cancelled (some after my son and I were already sitting in the office waiting for Amanda to show up) Tutoring Club is not interested in customer service what so ever. If you do not appreciate others taking your time for granted, I suggest you find a different tutoring service. read more
