Love that this school promotes and pushes the kids educationally and makes their learning experience fun. This is one of the only schools that have the G.A.T.E. program from my understanding and they have to bus the other kids from neighboring schools to attend. This school is one of the top elementary schools in Bakersfield, from the kids scoring really well academically to the parents playing a huge role being involved with tons of activities and with teachers participating and pushing the kids to be successful. It's a really clean school and the school strives to stay safe and to keep clean. I have had a lot of ups and downs here, my older son is deaf and most of his years attending Stockdale was always positive, but there were a few teachers who you can tell did not want to spend time with a disabled child or "deal" with it. My son was too advanced to be in a mentally challenged class, but not advanced enough to be in a regular class, so he struggled a lot being in a regular course class. On a positive note, there were many teachers that are amazing people and take the time to create an atmosphere where education was extremely important and there were more teachers like that in this school rather than the bad apples here. I have never had any similar situations with my younger son as he is always academically advanced and that part gives me a lot of mixed feelings. I feel like he had a more fair experience because he wasn't disabled and he did not have to have a whole lot of one on one since he was advanced, but I honestly can't judge that part and say that's why he may have had a better experience because people who have a child with a disability always feel shorted by everyone, so maybe it's just me. Both my kids absolutely loved this school and has had a positive experience here for the most part. Both kids had an opportunity to participate in numerous activities (Band, Chorus, Battle of the Books, Math Field Day, Track and many more). Their most memorable moments had to be their last year when they both went to Camp Keep to experience the outdoors science and education. This gave them an opportunity to gain closer relationships with their peers and to learn a little bit of independence. The school has prevented a lot of traffic problems by utilizing their valet in the front of the school or drop offs at the back of the school, the only thing that still bothers me til this day is when parents drop off their kids at the back of the school, the principal/teachers have had this rule about parents parking in the middle of the road and letting their kids out instead of safely parking and letting their kids out. The principal/teachers have had multiple meetings with parents letting them know this is illegal, yet I honestly feel the principal only allows certain parents to still do that, my suggestion is to make sure your child and everyone elses kids are safe. If you plan to allow your kids to attend Stockdale Elementary, I believe your kids will have one of the best educations in Bakersfield for a public school.

I arrived with ONE person waiting. After about 15 minutes of not being helped, that person left to the restroom so I obviously moved to the front of the line. Another woman got behind me after filling out a packet, then the first woman came back and got behind her. There was one receptionist and alot of phone calls and kiddos coming through so I understand she was super busy, but with my receptionist experience you help people who are in your face before you help a phone call. After about 45 minutes of standing there(ONLY needing an enrollment packet) she decides to help the lady behind me FIRST, and then the woman behind her FIRST. I find that extremely ridiculous. Waiting 45 minutes to an hour for a packet to be given to me, and 2 people who were behind me being helped first, as well as multiple phone calls? Horrible. I had high hopes after hearing such good things about this school. Hopefully my child's experience there will be better than mine.

My girls will come home telling me all about their day and singing whatever new song they learned that week. This is a co-op school so there is parent participation involved which we loved, it allowed us to observe what our kids did during school hours. We have also made life long friendships with the kids and the parents along the way. As a stay at home mom I loved to linger on the playground after drop off to catch up with the teachers and other parents. If you're on the fence on whether you should send your kid to tk or keep them home BPN is a happy medium. Kids play and learn from 9-12 and are home in time for nap time. This preschool felt like a second home and family to us. Look no further than BPN for all your preschool needs. I know my girls will we go into public schools full of confidence and knowledge they gained at BPN.

This is the first time having to come to the actual district office. It looks like their buildings are on two streets. There are plenty of parking and even solar panels in the parking lot! Even if you walk into the main office, the receptionist will tell you where to go, like she did me, because there are different buildings for different services. It can be kind of confusing. Staff was kind, though, and the building I did have to go into for the info on fingerprinting I had to get buzzed into. This whole process was very easy, which I appreciated. My little girl will remain in the Panama-Buena Vista School District for Jr High as well, so I'm hoping my experience will remain as pleasant as it has been for elementary!

Awful is an understatement!…read more I have requested a copy of my students IEP for over a month. I am very well aware this is part of the parents rights to obtain a copy of it for their records. My child is in 7th grade this isn't her first IEP and won't be her last. I have emailed the woman who conducted the meeting Monica H., as well as her teacher who is supposed to be giving her a whole period of extra help AND the principal of Stonecreek. Finally went in person, asked the front desk lady. She wrote my name down I STILL LEFT WITH NO IEP. No IEP still. Maybe not conduct the IEP meetings via zoom? That way the parent can get a copy after the meeting is over? No responses on email from multiple people including the principal who are all employed at Stonecreek nor the woman who represented PBVUSD that led the IEP meeting back in early September. The lack of communication and care is shameful. They have pushed her through grade after grade knowing she has autism and a learning disability. Her teachers have no problem failing her knowing she has this disability. Grades are supposed to be weighted. She turns in all of her work and has 4 Fs in multiple subjects. Clearly she's in classes that are too hard for her. Wouldn't that be a sign to provide this child with more services? Not at Stonecreek or PBVUSD. They are content pushing her through each subject and grade with MINIMAL help.
