We stayed one night for over $200. After a long day at Prude Ranch, I took a shower only to discover no body wash in the dispensar. My son had the same problem in his room. There was no body lotion available. The next morning, there was very little hot water. They advertised a gift shop with services in the office. That had moved and there was nothing on the property itself. The room itself was charming but the amenities...not so much. In a town that size, nothing much was available after 7 pm. read more

We spent 2 nights in cabin #2. It's a great location right off the main highway. The cabin was clean and ready upon arrival. We walked down the street to enjoy pizza the first night and went down the highway to enjoy burgers the next night. There are 3 other cabins available so it would be a good location for a group to stay and still have their privacy. read more

Absolutely Wonderful Stay -- Especially for Dog Lovers! We stayed at the Butterfield Inn in early June and had the best experience. We were in Unit 3, which was not only spotless and beautifully decorated, but also super cozy with a fireplace we actually got to use! It was perfect for us and our two big Labradors--plenty of space, comfort, and most importantly, true dog-friendliness. The service here is what really blew us away. I accidentally left my credit card behind, and the owner personally brought it to us. When we got a flat tire on our way out of town, she helped us find someone local to fix it fast. That kind of care and hospitality is rare and unforgettable. The new gift shop is absolutely adorable. I picked up a Texas Hummingbird book that I'm already loving, and there were so many unique finds--definitely worth stopping in even if you're not staying overnight. If you're heading to Fort Davis--especially with dogs--you HAVE to stay here. It's charming, clean, welcoming, and run by truly kind people. Can't recommend it enough! read more

What a beautiful place to stay during our first visit to Fort Davis (on our way to a Star Party at Mc Donalds Observatory)! The service leaves nothing to be desired, great communication from the beginning. Jennifer stayed in contact all along until we arrived to the location. Our cottage, number one, was beautiful! Everything we expected and more. Clean, nicely decorated, spacious, stocked with coffee, a mini fridge and a microwave oven. The patio is charming, clean a private enough to be enjoyed when the weather is nice. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a place in this charming, little town. read more

This is what all hotels should be! You get an email with all the instructions you need, you check in by just going to the room. You open the door and your first impression is "I'm never leaving this room." Fantastic room - two comfy chairs that rocked, a huge bed that was cozy and a fireplace (I didn't use it, was only there one night). The bathroom had plenty of shampoo and conditioner (not the nasty two in one, it was good stuff). It was a very nice stay. read more

Such a cute place! Just on our way back to AZ and this a a nice place to stop for the day. It's in a small town and it was a Monday so only a few things open but tried the Mexican place down the street. Got food to go. The AC was great and the hosts were always just a text away if you needed anything. Beds are comfy and the room is clean. Definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a quiet and comfy place to stay. read more

Quaint, clean and unique, this place was a gem! Opening the door to the room and immediately impressed with the beautiful furnishings, very comfortable feeling. Felt like we were sleeping on a cloud! Fridge, microwave, coffee pot and I wish we would of had the time to enjoy the courtyard. Cute little wagon was provided for use. Highly recommend this cute little place to stay if your planning a trip to Ft. Davis. We will definitely be staying there again on our next trip. read more

We were brought back to Fort Davis unexpectedly for a dear friends mother's passing. We stayed at the quaintest little cottages. A home away from home. Yellow in color and cosy on the inside. Gunner approved with a fireplace and courtyard. So many pretty flowers. We would definitely stay here again! read more

We stayed two nights and slept like babies. The cottage was clean, cozy, spacious, and reasonably priced. The owners are welcoming and kind. Staying here, you're close to everything: Davis Mountains State Park, Chihuahuan Dessert Park, Fort Davis Museum, restaurants, etc. We'll definitely be returning! Thank you, Kelly for the hospitality! read more

Butterfield Inn - Cottage #1 - Hotels Near Me - Fort Davis, Texas

Being from out of town, we booked this through Expedia (wouldn't have found it otherwise). We were traveling between the National Parks and wanted a base camp for a couple of nights around Alpine. This came up as near Alpine and looked really nice, so I booked it. First, what we loved about it: the cottage was expertly decorated and offered premium linens (super soft and comfy sheets and thick towels). The fireplace is a nice touch although we didn't have time to enjoy it. We were afraid at first the bed would be too soft but we all slept soundly and comfortably. What could use improvement: we had coffee but no cups. The shower had shampoo and conditioner but no soap/body wash or lotion. My son and I both felt like our hair had some sort of residue after using the shampoo. I didn't have that using my own the second morning. The shower was a little challenging; it's low so my 5' 10" husband had to stoop to shower and the temperature control handle is really tight. A box of Kleenex would be a nice, simple amenity. I'm not sure if I was ever communicating with a person or automated texts. I got a text soon after booking with arrival instructions. I assumed it was from a person and responded right away with a question about dining options. We didn't get a reply for over five hours. I was checking Yelp for restaurants so we had some idea that we might be in trouble time-wise but we were still surprised to arrive at 8:40 pm and find that the one restaurant that was supposed to be open until 9 was already closed along with the grocery store. The liquor store was open so we had a dinner of chips and ranch water. Not being from the area, we had no idea Fort Davis was so small with such limited late evening options. This isn't the inn's fault, but it would have been nice to know, especially when I'd texted to say we were coming from Carlsbad and a ways out. I texted when I arrived to 'check-in' and ask where to park but never received a reply. The morning of checkout, I received a text with check-out instructions that again, I think may have been automated. This was our third accommodation this trip. While the personal feel of the cottage was nicer than a chain hotel, the higher cost and lack of personal communication maybe didn't seem worth it in the end. If you're coming to the area to visit friends and spend time in town though, I'd recommend it just based on how nice and comfortable the room was. read more

The Butterfield Inn is a little run down, but it's a sweet and convenient place to stay when you're passing through Fort Davis. We stayed at the Butterfield Inn for two nights during our West Texas trip (there are so many wonderful places driving distance from Fort Davis!), and it was a nice place to stay. Best perks? Affordable and right off the main street in Fort Davis (walking distance to a couple of restaurants and stores). So, yes, Butterfield Inn could use some new siding, paint, and new carpet inside the rooms, but it was an a-okay place to stay, and a good place for the price! read more

Quaint cottages and dog friendly. Kelly, the owner was very accommodating. The cute courtyard is very relaxing, it has a table and chairs for your use as well. When traveling with my dogs, I carry clean blankets to use in the rooms, so dog hair doesn't get on the furniture. I figure it's the least I can do for them allowing my pet to stay. Of course, you're in walking distance to the restaurants in Ft. Davis. I highly recommend the Butterfield Inn. read more

If you are planning to visit the Marfa-Fort Davis-Alpine area I highly recommend Butterfield Cottages in downtown Fort Davis. It's a hidden gem and you won't be disappointed. Under new ownership, the rooms are super clean and charming, and having separate cottages makes it feel like a small cabin (w/out the kitchen). We stayed for two nights. The location is perfect for visiting Marfa, Alpine, Fort Davis & McDonald Observatory. Fort Davis is super cute, very walkable. We will be going back. read more

There are 4 charming little cottages around a little grassy courtyard. The cottages are located behind the antique store and you can't see them from the main road. The owners were very nice and friendly and willing to help with suggestions and ideas for things to do. They even reccommended a pizza place that turned out to be some of the best we've ever had. The cottage was clean and nicely decorated with a large bed, tv, sitting area and private bath area. They had some of the nicest hotel towels I've ever used! The cottages are literally across the street from the Hotel Limpia Dining Room and Suttler's Club, the only bar in the county, and less than three minutes of a walk to everything else in town. Great place and I look forward to coming back! read more

My family stay here every summer. Kind owners with lots of suggestions . Love that it's in town . Great town to walk around . Looking forward to the next July 4 . read more

Cute place with individual cottages so no noise from other guests. Clean and comfortable. Not a great selection of places to be at but Alpine and Marfa are close and have better choices. Fort Davis Historical site and McDonald Observatory are both great places to visit. This inn is very reasonably priced also. read more

After driving 14+ hours on I-10 as we made our way back to California from Natchez, MS and having been burned by the interstate motel chains on the drive out we decided to look for something cozy and comfortable a little off the beaten path. We could not have envisioned a better destination than Butterfields. The room was a welcomed oasis, quiet comfortable and warm. The owner who owns the antique shop out front could not have been nicer and made it possible for us to just go right to our room despite arriving at 4am. Definitely worth the added time on the itinerary and Fort Davis is a gorgeous little mountain town set in the Davis Mountains. Cannot recommend highly enough! read more

I stayed here with my mom on a resent trip to west Texas. This is a lovely place. The owners were very nice. The room was very clean and cozy, and it was within walking distance to the Fort Davis Drug Store...an amazingly good cafe. It was great experience all around. read more

EXCELLENT! Clean, Comfortable, and quiet! Definitely will stay again and highly recommend.!

We stayed here with our dog on our way back to California. It's a ways off from I-10, but it was worth it to avoid an overpriced room in Fort Stockton. The cottages are cute and quiet. I loved the fluffy white towels and the comfy bed. Everything was clean and the owner was very helpful. Also, the pet fee was only $10! Fort Davis is a small place, but we enjoyed it. We wish we could have had more time to explore Fort Davis National Park! Lots of history from the 1800s there. read more

Really great place to stay. Individual cottages, good for couples especially. Very clean, in great shape and super quiet. Very good beds, the cottages are furnished with nice antiques or nearly so. Very comfortable. On site parking and easy walking access to all the town's eats etc. About eating, umm, good places to eat but an adventure to catch them open. Quite a bit of variability as who is open and when and for what and how long. All that being said, the drug store/fort davis hotel (next door to the inn) is open at 730am most days for breakfast, and has dinner as well. Very good food. A dependable standby is the the market (down about 2 blocks) that has a nice deli and a little.of everything (7am to 7pm most days). The inn is convenient to the McDonald observatory and the Fort Davis historic site. read more

This was the perfect place for myself and 2 kids. They could run around in the courtyard and we walked to the local shops and restaurants.
