"A Blue French" and "Sour Cherry" cocktails
    Matthew L.

Butter is a bistro that opened at the Frogtown Inn Bed & Breakfast in Canadensis, Pennsylvania in January 2021. It was founded by executive chef Mark Arnao. Coming from an Italian and Hungarian household, Arnao's culinary interest was sparked at Sonessa's Restaurant in Philadelphia's Italian Market District. His mother worked there and he later worked as an apprentice under head chef Tom Sonessa. After reaching adulthood, Arnao worked at vatious high end hotel restaurants in Philadelphia and New York City. It was during this period that he learned all aspects of culinary hotel operations. Arnao dreamed of having his own business and later opened the Frogtown Inn and its on-site restaurant Butter in the Pocono Mountains. The bistro quickly gained a reputation for having the best casual, refined fine dining experience in the area. My family and I recently visited Butter while we were spending Memorial Day weekend in the Poconos. For cocktails, I ordered the "Sour Cherry" (Woodford bourbon, orange jam, orange bitters, blue agave) while my wife ordered "A Blue French" (crushed blueberries & lemon, Bluecoat gin, champagne). They both really hit the spot. For our entrees, I ordered the "Veal Chop à la Butter" (prosciutto, dried tomato, mushrooms, roasted onions, sherry herb cream), my wife ordered the "Lobster & Peas Campanelle" (chopped lobster, tarragon cream), and our son had the "Margherita Flatbread" (Ma's tomatoes, fresh cheese, basil pesto). Although the wait for our food was quite long, it was worth it because our dishes were exemplary! We couldn't remember the last time we were more satisfied with a meal! We'll be dreaming about our dinner at Butter for quite some time!

We normally head to ABE vicinity but didn't feel like driving. My husband decided to try this restaurant that is part of a B&B. The property is the former Frogtown Inn and quaint. The atmosphere is quaint. The waitstaff are very friendly and courteous. The food was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. A gentleman approached from behind the bar to ask if we were enjoying our meal. It wasn't until we were departing that my husband met a host at the front door who informed us that her son is Chef Mark. While talking, he came out and it was the same gentleman that asked if we were enjoying our meal. Both of us had to shake his hand and assure him that we would return. I highly recommend this restaurant.

While out of town for work I heard about this restaurant so decided to give it a try. When I arrived I parked in their private lot. I walked in and it is a bed & breakfast style place. I decided to sit at the bar and Angela was my bartender/server and she was nice. I started with the lemon drop and it was nice and strong. I then got the pinot nior. For my meal I got the penne pasta and had them add shrimp for an up charge. While I waited garlic bread came out piping hot and it was so good. The pasta came out and it had cheese on it and I didn't know they added that. They graciously took it back to correct it which I appreciated. After a few minutes it came out and I dug in. It was soo tasty and had a little kick. I truely enjoyed my meal and my experience.

A wonderful delight in the mountains. Nestled inside an inn, this restaurant offers a delicious dinner that will thrill your palate. We started with hummus and ended with lobster & pasta and the lamb dish. We plan to come here every time we are in the neighborhood.

Mountainhome Diner has been around for years and is your typical diner with all-day breakfast available. It's clean and the staff were exactly what you want in a diner with friendliness and hospitality. I went with a breakfast sandwich with bacon, egg, and cheese on a croissant with some well done potatoes. My friend had the scrapple with some scrambled eggs. I also had an orange juice. The orange juice I did not care for. Definitely not fresh squeezed. But the sandwich was excellent along with the potatoes. My friend also loved his coffee and scrapple with egg. My meal came to $11 not including tip. We'd come back!

The current owners since 2017 are husband and wife restaurateurs Ali and Etab Abullattif. The enormous menu features classic staples such as omelets, pancakes, eggs benedict, french toast, waffles, breakfast sandwiches, breakfast wraps, salads, sandwiches, paninis, burgers, seafood entrees, steakhouse entrees, and various Italian specialties too numerous to mention. My family and I visited Mountainhome Diner for lunch on a recent trip to the Poconos. It was actually are last morning on our trip and we were looking for a place to grab lunch before making the drive back to Connecticut. We had driven past the diner several times on previous visits to the area, but had never visited before. We decided to give them a try. It seemed like a classic American diner that you could find just about anywhere. There's no website, no social media accounts, just good old-fashioned diner staples. The staff were friendly and accommodating and they seated us at a booth. A go-to dish that my wife and I both like to get at classic diners is a Greek salad, and Mountainhome Diner's "Big Fat Greek Salad" (chopped iceberg lettuce, crumbled feta, olives, tomato, onions, peppers, grape leaves, house Greek vinegar) sounded like it was just what we were looking for. I ordered mine with gyro while my wife ordered hers with chicken. Those salads really hit the spot! For our sons, we looked to the Kids Menu. Our older son had the "Hot Dog with French fries" while our younger son had the "Chicken Fingers with French fries". They were both very happy with their dishes. We had a nice time at Mountainhome Diner and we're happy that we finally stopped in. We recommend them to anyone visiting the area!

This restaurant is located within the Brookview Manor Inn…read more The cocktails were delicious and refreshing - I had the oasis which was essentially a Malibu bay breeze with peach schnapps. My husband had the snowball which he thoroughly enjoyed. Highly recommend both. They only have a few bottled beers but had many wines to choose from. We went with the special soup of the day which was a tomato soup with rice --- it was to die for! For our entrees, I went with the blue salmon which came with a baked potato and veggie of the day (creamed spinach with feta cheese). My husband opted for the pork tenderloin. He doesn't like spinach so they accommodated that by offering a different veggie (broccoli or green beans). My husband was very happy and raved about the broccoli and said the pork tenderloin was the best he ever had. For dessert, we went with the brownie towers, which came out kind of hard. The waitress (Jeannie) apologized and even brought us out another piece. It's a very relaxed atmosphere. We sat on the porch, it was really nice. The only thing I can recommend was maybe adding light dinner music to enhance the experience. All in all, the meal and experience was worth every penny and I highly recommend checking this place out if you're in the area.
