This place will rip you off! Went in because my car threw a code and did some rough idling (turns out air filters just needed to be changed). They charged me like $50-100 for air filters that cost like $5-15 at the parts store! My husband ended up calling because they were charging like $200 for labor just to put in 3 air filters that take about 5 mins each. Then they checked brakes (they said this is standard practice) and said they needed to be changed (they confessed to my husband on the phone they have a policy if brakes are at 40% good then they tell people they need to be changed but don't tell the people that but of info). They took hub caps off to look and when they put them back on they didn't line them up correctly on one tire and forced it on causing it to crack. They saw a woman (me) come in and did the quintessential thing and uncharged me for everything because I am not the "car" person. This place is horrible. If I could give zero stars, I would. On June 9, 2025, I called the Evans location and spoke with Derrick regarding service recommended by the Honda dealership in Virginia, where I had recently completed maintenance. I asked about pricing for replacing the timing belt, drive belt, water pump, and tensioner. Derrick informed me that the cost would be $689.64 but also incorrectly stated that my vehicle had a timing chain, not a timing belt. He advised that a valve adjustment with valve cover gasket replacement wasn't necessary unless there was an error code, which contradicted the dealership's recommendation. I clarified the services I needed and asked if I would need to make an appointment. He said that if I dropped the car off early in the day, it could be completed the same afternoon. On June 10, I called ahead at 12:05 PM to confirm the timing, and I was told the work could still be completed that day. I brought my car in shortly after and reiterated the specific services I needed to multiple staff members. Again, I was assured it would be ready by the afternoon. However, at 4:00 PM, I received a call from Derrick stating that they were recommending additional services based on their inspection. I explained that these services had just been completed at the Virginia dealership, to which he responded, "It doesn't show on Carfax." Considering the work was completed only a few days earlier, I wouldn't expect it to appear on Carfax yet. More importantly, Derrick then revised the estimate from $689.64 to $1,250.97, citing that he had overlooked the fact that my vehicle does, in fact, have a timing belt. He also told me that the car would not be ready until the following day. At this point, I asked what--if anything--had been completed, and was told that no work had begun. I requested that they remove the car from the shop, and I picked it up shortly after. This experience left me extremely disappointed. The lack of accurate information, poor communication, and misdiagnosis of basic vehicle components raise serious concerns about the competency of the staff. I expected more professionalism and reliability, and I will be taking my vehicle to a more trusted and knowledgeable service provider moving forward. read more

Dealing with automotive places is a love/hate relationship sometimes, but this go around it is on the positive. I was recommended by a friend to go to Butler Automotive (Evans) to take care of my preventive maintenance needs for my truck and they did not disappoint. What stood out about this location is their honesty. I originally went in to have the transmission oil change/gasket which the service representative addressed my particular needs. The gasket did not need replacing, which saved me some coins, while other places might have tried to push that EXTRA..Butler did not. For that honesty, I wound up having the rear differential fluid changed which definitely needed it. Fast forward two days, many miles on the interstate and backwood trails, I have put my truck through the paces. It is like new blood in the veins, I can tell a substantial gain in power on the interstate (better mpg) and on the trails no more minor delays in of gears. read more

This place is a rip-off. I went for a car repair (car starts to shake when trying to accelerate) on March-1-21. They fixed the car and gave me a bill for $1660.46, which included the cost of a serpentine belt and labor cost (54.999+79.95) among other things. Within just over a month (Apr-6-21) I had the same problem again and had to tow the car. This time they said there was another problem with Alternator and gave a for $675.32. this included labor and serpentine belt and alternator. Interestingly, on the bill they hand out, they clearly mention that there is a warranty for 12 month or 12,000 on all repairs! When I asked about the warranty, I was told this is not covered!! Either it is incompetence in fixing the problem or just making you pay again for the same problem and ripping you off. read more

I had tires put on my truck. Came to pick up and one tire read almost 0 psi on the dash instrument. Turns out the technician broke the tpms sensor. They fixed the issue after some back and forth. Walked out today and my right rear tire has a lug nut that is about to fall off. Guess I'm going to have to check them all myself. read more

I felt obligated to write this negative review seeing that augusta is a military town. I am a Marine Corps veteran that recently moved to this town. I have sufficient knowledge in the automotive industry to get myself by and feel like Butler automotive attempted to take advantage of me...though I decided to buy another Envoy rather than let them work on my disabled one... I brought my vehicle to butlers because they seemed to be honest people and knowing that people are often taken advantage of with transmissions due to ignorance theirin, thought them trustworthy. While charged a $105 fee to "diagnose" the issue, I was told that it would cost me $3,436 to install a USED transmission...If tou take a look on Facebook marketplace, you will see that you can get a whole GMC Envoy denali, with lower miles on the transmission for under $3000. So, what would you do? Pay to replace a worn transmission, or just buy a whole new envoy and wait and swap the old tranny yourself when funds are available? A veteran in a desperate time of need has a shot taken all in his lap by these corrupt individuals. They remarked that the "used" transmission cost 1900 and the rest was labor and 3 year warranty...when I asked what was wrong with my transmission, cause before taking it there I dropped the pan, changed the filter and solenoids, ect. They simply stated it was a internal transmission issue! I really hope everyone takes a note to this! I'm 150% insulted by this service since I'm currently in a financial crisis and this is the poor service i receive. I hope every veteran and/or active duty service member heeds my review and takes their vehicle to aamco instead...put these boys out of business! read more

So I took my Honda Fit (140,000 miles) to Butler on a Saturday morning. I had a horrible grinding sound when I applied the brakes and it lingered even after I wasn't braking. Three hours after I dropped the car off, Butler called to tell me my brakes were fine and that I had a rock lodged in the caliper. They took care of the rock and also looked at my powering steering fluid to see if it needed changing and it didn't. When I picked up my car (the same day) I hand the charge card in hand and Bob had my key in his hand. He told me there would be no charge. I was shocked and very thankful. They made my weekend and I will be going back to Butler! read more

"DON'T LET THE BUTLER DO IT" ShouId be zero stars. I took my car in for not having air. They replaced AC system. Picked my car up on a Friday evening right before closing and noticed a vibration and loud whinning sound when the car is idled as well as the fan was speeding up and slowing down depending on if I use gas pedal. Took car back the next Tuesday. Butler call me and sad all that noise and vibration is coming from needing a motor mount and I needed an alternator for the fan issues. Now keep in my mind I only went in for no air. We approved the repairs anyway. Car continued to have the same issues after doing all of the new repairs. They said let them keep the car over the weekend and they will replace the compressor because I told them that's the only thing that changed on the car before all of these issues. Got a call saying they changed the compressor and car is ready but it's still having the same issues. Since I wasn't satisfied with that explanation, we now have a new problem "CVT transmission" is causing the whinning and vibration. I picked up my car and took it to another shop the same day. I found out Butler broke a bolt while replacing the compressor. They never disclosed this to us. Keep in mind they supposedly put two compressors on the car. We had Butler pick up the car from the second shop to remove the broken bolt. After that visit, we had Butler take the car back to the second shop to verify the work. This time the bolt wouldn't tighten. This led me to believe the broken bolt was still in the compressor. Took the car to a different Butler to fix the bolt. I took my car to two other shops and there's nothing wrong with my transmission. I guess I'm stuc with this more than likely refurbished compressor!! A shade tree mechanic could've done better work than this. read more
