Let me lay this out for you real simple. Butchers Korner has the best brisket in Southeast Texas, bar none. I'd put it up against every restaurant in Lockhart too. This place gets everything right. It's a real butcher shop/smokehouse that also serves barbecue. I love all of the old mounts on the wall and the old school ambience and the sweet older lady who takes your order. I love the enthusiastic food delivery over the counter from the guys in the kitchen. The food always comes out fast. The sides are delicious. This place absolutely a jewel. This is the best bbq sandwich I have ever had. I am 58 years old. I lived many years in austin and been to blacks bbq and all kinds of bbq places. I used to drive cross country trucks. I have had 100s of bbq sandwiches. This is the best I can remember ever! Pulled pork. Tender, crazy tender meat. Looks like a real bbq restaurant. If you like bbq and you don't eat here you will be missing out. If you have to drive a while to get here do it. The little street outside is nice with all kinds of little shops like ice cream and there is a really old hardware store to explore across the railroad tracks. Restaurants this good are a rare find. "Scott" (with a superior hair cut) hooked us up. He put all the bbq on the bun he could and some more on the side. Truly the best bbq I ever had!!! Thank you Scott. Brisket was incredibly tough and hard, no smoke flavor just tough. Smoked turkey was just turkey no flavor to it, no pepper rub nothing. Sauce was mustardy. The potato salad was good just too bad the meats weren't. read more

WOWZERS!! So Good! We ordered 3 pounds each of the sliced brisket, pulled pork, and chopped beef for an anniversary party in the area. Since they're not open on Saturday we had to pick up on Friday. I was a little nervous that the meat would end up dried out, but we followed the instructions and it was perfect. Everyone at the party was going nuts about it, asking "Who cooked this?" It was the one food item we almost ran out of, thank goodness there was about 2 servings of each left...that pulled pork is hands down the absolute best, bar none! I wish I had taken a picture but was too busy with getting party set up. So wether you are dropping in for a bite to eat or seeking catering, do yourself the favor of choosing the Butcher's Korner. Did I just taste a piece of heaven or what?! xD Tip: 1) (I think) This place opens it's door only at lunch time and closes before 3pm. 2) If you want their side items, you have to buy them separately for $2.59ish but it's worth it. 3) If you choose to buy/eat a side item, you must get their dirty rice. It tastes just like the stuffing inside boudains so unless you don't like boudain, you MUST try it. You won't regret it. I love the owner lady of the place. She was so nice helping me out with the menu when I told her that I was new to the place. She also made me feel loved by calling me "sweetie, love, etc" I was lucky enough that day to have enough time to go here for lunch but I would definitely come back to try more of their meat and other sides whenever I'm around the area for lunch. read more

Haven't been here in a while but got a couple of to-go orders. Their heavy pork ribs have always been amazing and didn't disappoint on this visit. Smoked chicken was as good as we remember as well. Their other sides are ok....but the dirty rice has been the main draw for me and even more so now that Nick's is no longer. It's like boudain without the casing, so moist and seasoned just right as has been all these years. On take out they put a sheet of wax paper between the main dishes and top with a slice of bread, pickles and onions as any proper 'que joint should. Its good but the brisket is a little dry. Everything else was fine. The best thing about the place is the smell that hits you as you walk in the door; its intense but really meaty / smokey. BTW... what the hell is wrong with Texas BBQ? Why can't anyone cook up some god damn BEEF ribs? The pork ribs are fine but they are not nearly as good as BEEF ribs! read more

The bbq meat is pretty tasty. I had the ribs and the brisket and I would order them again. The sides I had were the beans and dirty rice was nothing much more than store bought can bake beans in my opinion and the dirty rice had a bit to much green onion so I would get something else next time. I guess I expected more from the sides. The burger my wife had was not to special. I think a Depot burger is better any day of the week for the price. It was small and thin to me. Also they served it to her without a plate to eat on, it was just the wrapper. I will go back again but not for the burger or the sides. read more

When I'm in the downtown area of Nederland, Tx, I'll often pop in and get a dinner special at Butchers Korner. Recently tried their BBQ Ribs with a side order. Delicious. Brought home my leftovers and hubs enjoyed the ribs too! Tasty! Love the atmosphere of the restaurant! read more

Great family run meat market, excellent BBQ for dine in or carry out. The ribs are fantastic as well as most of the sides. If your lucky enough to catch them with a pan full of beef jerky you really need to get a 1/2 pound for "later" but then again my beef jerky rarely survives the trip home! read more
