Whenever I eat chicken tenders, I always compare the taste to Golden Chick because Golden Chick has some of the best tenders that I have ever tasted. My mom and I came here a few weeks ago and I was not disappointed. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by the friendly staff. All of our questions about the menu items were answered. We both ordered the 4 piece tender meal, and within minutes it was brought out to us. The food was so hot! Instead of fries, we had fried okra for our side. Everything was so good. The rolls were probably my favorite! I have to say that the tenders are probably just as good as Golden Chick. We all know Chik-fil-A is super tasty but tends to support divisive organizations that divide our community, which personally takes a lot of fun out of it for me. Unfortunately the server behind the counter deliberately served us the smallest broken chicken tenders he could gather. We visited May 12, 2022. The server was the oldest male staff member on shift between 11 am and 12 pm. I was always taught if your going to serve people food, you should always give them the best looking food. I wish I could say "Meh I've had better" without giving this place 2 stars. Cos its better than 2 stars. So I'll give it 3. But it's the truth. I love chicken, but I'm picky about it. I don't want it on the bone (I dont want to eat any meat on bones.. idk why O.o) so I got the chicken fingers, with fries and mac n cheese. This place reminds me a lot of Bojangles, Churches, maybe Hardees. The food quality however didn't impress me. The flavor wasn't there. It was OK, I mean it wasn't BAD food, it just wasn't good. I am biased, being from the southeast, but not horribly far from this area there's a Zaxbys down I-35 a bit. If you're up for a drive and want GOOD chicken fingers, I'd say go there over here. You wont get any mac n cheese though. Lots of traffic at the Brodie/Slaughter intersection too, makes this location hard to get in/out of if you find yourself on the other side of the road. Grew up with a bushs in my hometown. Was excited to finally find one here in Austin. After the 20 minute drive to get here, can say that it's definitely the same name but not the same place. I liked it. The tenders were good, crispy but still a good amount of meat on them. Okra is a slam dunk as always. Mac n cheese could improve (maybe add some melted cheddar on top?), but the seasoned salt they provide adds an extra layer of flavor to everything you put it on. I'd like to see options for 2 sides with your meal instead of just one. The car hops have been friendly and helpful both times I have gone through the drive-thru. I was surprised. Not gonna lie, I was expecting meh. I am used to Raising Cane and the like and underestimated Bushs. Never will I make that mistake again. Not a typical drive thru, they have three lanes and people come out and take your order, like car hops. ANTS ON THE TABLES. I love Busch's Chicken and hadn't been in awhile because it's not close to where I live, so it's like a treat to myself to go here. Got my food, which was good as always, but while eating in the restaurant, noticed ants crawling on the side of the table and wall. I mentioned this to the manager, who seemed quite indifferent to my concern. "Oh, little black ones? I'll call my guy and let them know." No concern about my food. He did ask me if I wanted to move to a different booth, that was all. Next time I'm in town, I will need to reconsider my food choice. Staff is always quick and friendly. A big shout out to the staff that give treats to my dogs in the backseat! If you go during normal lunch and dinner hours, the chicken is fresh and plentiful. I live in a part of town where my closest option for fried chicken, and I'm talking real on-the-bone fried chicken, is a Popeyes. Outside of that, the next closest options are three to four times further. That includes this location of Bush's chicken. For fast food fried chicken, Popeyes is decent, but Bush's is better in my book. The style reminds me more of what I loved when I was in college in North Carolina. So driving that extra 8 miles in Austin traffic ends up being worth it. Their service is a lot better and faster too with their multi-lane drive thru, so I've never had to wait long to get my chicken fix here. read more

I frequent this Bush's location...it's close to home and work, it's a family favorite, and they sell the small nugget ice by the bag (which other places nearby do not ) Today I went through the drive thru to get dinner for my daughter and a tea for me, but the kids working it ignored us completely, serving three cars that arrived after us, and still didn't acknowledge us. I work in the industry and I was MAD. I decided to walk inside...and I walked in hot and told the guys behind the counter what just happened. My family loves this place. It's easy, good and fast! The food is consistent and yum.

I live around the corner and have never been here, so last night, I decided to give it a try. The drive thru was interesting. I appreciate the concept and maybe it was just an off evening, but the lane next to me had 3 cars drive up after me and their orders were taken before mine, which was a little off offputting, as the car hops take orders, it is not a drive up to the speaker box situation. When they did take my order, it was friendly and pleasant. Chicken strips were very good. Fresh, hot, juicy and with a crunchy and light breading that even stayed crispy and juicy through next day microwave warm up. I was quite surprised by how good they were. The sides were ranging from pretty good (mashed potatoes and gravy) to ok (canned green beans cooked in bacon like mom would make in a pinch in the 70s, so kind of comforting in a nostalgic way but not my first choice) and then terrible mac and cheese. It tasted like was cooked in or with sweet tea...so strange in flavor, it tasted exactly like tea and I couldn't eat it. One bite and I was puzzled, took a second to make sure and it was so strange...and done...my dogs ate it though. I got the gizzards and livers for my dogs and they seemed to enjoy them quite a bit, lots of tail wagging and even licking up the crust crumbles from the floor. The rolls looked and smelled good, but since I don't eat white bread, my dogs enjoyed them as well. So, in review, I recommend the chicken. The gravy was thick and peppery, and the mash was good for fast food. Otherwise, the other sides are not worth the price and size. read more

The food is good but customer service is definitely not a priority at this restaurant. As I ordered, I asked purchase a side of buffalo wing sauce. Although they do have buffalo wing sauce, I was told they would not sell me a side of buffalo wing sauce. Doesn't make much sense. I am black/African-American and I am not ashamed to say I love fried chicken. Screw the stereotypes. Fried Chicken is as American as apple pie and you are not a "real American" unless you eat fried chicken at least twice a month. To not like fried chicken is unpatriotic. Bush's Chicken is better than KFC. It is crispy, juicy and tender, it tastes good with Louisiana Hot Sauce. The yeast rolls are out of this world and does not do the waistline any favors. I also ate this week at Raising Cane's and I can't be bothered with going back. Bush's is definitely better! I wholeheartedly recommend Bush's. This is as good as it gets for a Chicken dinner. I love going to Bush's Chicken for their great car service. It's nice to talk to people face to face and they're always there to greet you with a smile. I recently became a car club member (which is free). That allows you to have happy hour prices, any day, any time. That's a score b/c it will save you a few bucks each visit. I don't shun fast food but I don't eat a lot of it either, especially fried stuff. However, when I discovered Bush's on Brodie and realized they had gizzards, I had to indulge. It's hard to find good gizzards, which are frequently overcooked, greasy or not fresh. The small combo meal was inexpensive and include one side, a roll and a drink. The staff serves you carhop style and all of the young people waiting on me and the other cars seemed extremely friendly and courteous. Wow, that's different. I was able to order any side I wanted so figuring the gizzards alone might cause coronary arrest I got a side salad instead of fries or something else I shouldn't be eating. The gizzards were perfectly cooked and the batter was light and not at all greasy or stale. The salad, while nothing fancy, was fresh with no brown lettuce and the dressing was surprisingly good. And I don't think I waited very long - maybe 3-4 minutes for my food. All-in-all a very pleasant surprise on all levels. If I'm going to clog my arteries every once in a while it might as well be fresh, yummy and served by nice people. read more
