One of the best meals of the day in good old England is Afternoon Tea. This quaint little tea shop in the Victorian Village of Buscot really does it well! Oh I did enjoy my High Tea - cucumber sandwich(it was thick white bread with the crusts left on - perfect for a hungry girl!) and my home-made plain scone served with clotted cream and jam. A generous pot of English breakfast tea with plenty of flavour was a natural accompaniment. Had I desired home baked cakes or a lunch I don't doubt I would have been just as impressed. My beady eye spotted the cakes under their glass domes; but my tea had been so substantial I will just have to wait until my next visit to give them a try. I will return because as well as the great food it was value for money. There was friendly service and some nice objects for sale. There were paperbags filled with old fashioned sweeties, lots of handmade crafts and a little glass and wooden case filled with affordable and quirky vintage costume jewellery. You could enjoy your tea and then go shopping for the kind of things you usually have to hunt hard to find! Combine this with the lovely garden to enjoy in the warm weather and the proximity to the riverside walk and Kelmscot and the National Trust's Buscot Park and you could have a great day out. If you find yourself if the area do call in too. You will be pleased that you did. read more
