Getting a milk tea drink is probably the last thing on your mind in Oxford. I felt is was my duty to try this place out. My expectations were low. The menu presentation was excellent. I didn't hear Cantonese or Mandarin being spoken. I didn't get what I love the most "service with a smile". Usually in the use this usually cute young Asian girl servers. For an extreme example, check out and google Cafe Lu (I have never been). I am glad this place calls the Tapioca balls by Pearls! Thank you represent for Cantonese! Milk tea is Canto not Tawainese. Boba is Tawainese but it's is like finger nails on a chalkboard when I hear that word. Damn you Southern California. I try not to use the word Boba as much. If you have a true Tawainese friend like me. She kept giggling at me. The slang word in Taiwanese "boba" means boobs! You're welcome. That girl has some nice boba. I can't tell if that is all natural boba. Only in England. I asked for my milk tea drink without ice. In the US, this means a half assed lukewarm drink but in England. I got it James Bond style! Shaken not stirred! I saw the lady making my drink in a clear martini shaker and the technique was flawless. She could be a bartender. I ordered a Roasted Milk tea with glass jelly and milk pudding. I was going straight Fobbing. Oh snap! I am I FOB! I am fresh of the plane from across the pond. The drink was very rich and the sweetening was off. The drink tasted powder very Tapioca Express like. I didn't really taste the tea but it still kind of hit the spot. But you need to keep mixing because the power will settle if you take too long to drink. Cheers!

I had just gotten off a long bus ride from London and checked into my room, and I was really in the mood for something cold to drink. When trying to find Formosan Tea Bar at first, it was a bit confusing. There was an alley with a sign for Formosan Tea Bar, and walking down the alley felt very sketchy and weird. But it's at the end of this sketchy and weird alley where you can find the entrance to Formosan Tea Bar. Once inside, it certainly looked much nicer than from the alley. The Japanese gentleman (and I knew he was Japanese because he told me his ethnicity) with a lovely British accent let me sample a few of the teas, and we had a nice conversation about the teas, the weather, the sweetness levels of the tea, and helped me decide which one I liked best. I chose a black tea with lemon juice and tapioca balls. It was so refreshing and delicious, and I could instantly see why they had the best bubble tea in Oxford. They were also so kind to fill up my personal water bottle with iced water as well. The one negative part of my experience was when I was about to snap a photo of the bubble tea menu, but then the caucasian guy working there just yelled at me. If I had been ruder, I would have just snapped at him, "You don't have to yell at me." The tea was much needed and was a pleasure to drink. I enjoyed being in their store to escape the heat.

Only thing I'm not a fan of is the "boosters," which are more like a watered down slushy. Their menu has a good variety, and for me the sweetness level is low enough that I don't have to knock it down 3 notches to not have go into diabetic shock. Prices are also a lot more reasonable compared to the near £5 a cup ones at the center. Only down side, and it's a major one, is their service. The lady who takes the orders has never given me a smile or anything near a pleasant demeanor all the times I've ordered. However, I have seen her smile towards certain customers, so I guess it's all down to whether she likes your face/kind or not. There is no greeting, no smile, zilch pleasantries as she takes your order. However, it's always quick and done right. And somehow she always knows whether I want it taken away or for eat-in. It's also a little bit farther up the High Street, which makes this place a lot less crowded than the ones closer to the City Centre.

While the drink I tried wasn't amazing, I'd definitely give this place another chance and come back to try some of the other drinks. I came here to study a while back, and it has seating as well as plugs, but may be a bit difficult to find a seat if you're coming here with a couple of friends to study. Long story short, average drinks, average prices. Pretty average all around!

It was so sweet and tasty that I had to force myself not to guzzle it down, and drink it slowly. I had to revisit the tea shop for another drink, because in my hometown we don't have any bubble tea shops like this one! On my second visit I had a bubble gum milkshake with blueberry bubble balls. This was my favorite drink. If I had more time in Coventry I would have returned again and again! I love the fun atmosphere of the shop with the bright colors! The staff was very friendly and helpful in recommending which bubbles go best with each drink.

Both Bubble Boba shops (Coventry & Cardiff) are an experience within themselves! From the really cool and fun decor, to the knowledgeable and friendly staff... I've never had a bad experience! Except maybe from the UK weather! The drink flavours are fun and unique, and many say taste "Just Like Home"! I've only been able to find Hokkaido Milk Tea in California, but Bubble Boba has it, along with Classic, Taro and other traditional flavours. They even have their own range of Cheesecake Drinks which are out of this world! Who would have thought to drink a cheesecake for dessert!? Hands down, Bubble Boba is the best. It was like being in an upscale boutique, but for boba and it totally set the mood. There was no queue and we promptly put in our orders. I went for the fluffy cheese tea mango and my other half got their signature fluffy cheese milk tea. You can customize your drink's sweetness level and the ice level, but we kept it standard. We opted to add tapioca pearls for our toppings which is an extra 70 pence per topping. Although it was a bit of a wait for a drinks (there was only one worker), I waited in anticipation as I love sweets and bubble tea. The nice girl explained that their drink covers are made special and the heart plug comes out and you're able to stick it in the middle. Sipping from that spot will get you a taste of the fluffy cheese. On the opposite end is the opening for the straw and that'll allow you to get a taste of your drink/boba. It's brilliant really! I wasn't sure what to expect from a bubble tea shop in Windsor, but I must say I was pleasantly surprised. They don't skimp on the fluffy cheese and it tastes wonderful. It also pairs well with their drinks. The boba was also perfectly chewy and not overcooked or overly sweet. From the servicescape, to the packaging, to the product itself - they've really done a wonderful job and I wish we had a spot like this back home on Maui. Highly recommend a stop here if you're nearby.
