BurtoNZ Bakery is located in the Lakewood Village Plaza. There is plenty of parking available. Cute little bakery with artisanal bread and New Zealand meat pies! A few small tables to sit at and one long table for a larger group or for shared seating. We ordered a sausage roll and a meat pie with beef and potatoes. Both were tasty! Bacon cheddar scone

This place is so great for grab and go. The mushroom and goat cheese pie is one of my favorites to get when I'm in the area. Everything also reheats well. On my last visit I grabbed a sausage roll, it's full of flavor and flaky. I eat it with the tomato sauce. The cheddar bacon scone was nice and salty. I love the big bits of bacon inside. It's not too heavy, but it's filling. I also tried a brown butter cookie for the first time from here. It tasted like a chocolate chip cookie without the chocolate haha. It was delicious. It was crispy on the outside but gooey and chewy in the middle. All my interactions with the staff have all been good and everyone is friendly. The only complaint that I have is about the hours because they are not open late enough and not open on Sundays lol

Wow. The variety of baked goods is incredible. Can't wait to come back and try more. Had the baguette sandwiches. Bread was so light and tender and didn't feel heavy. The sandwiches are simple and let the quality ingredients shine. Tried Orange and Pecan biscotti, Nan bar, shortbread and Apple Bundt. All were delicious. Service is quick even with a long line. Small place but plenty of seating outside.

Beef, cheese and jalapeño. At this moment, I thought about parking and going back in for another.

This is the second time I've been to this place after discovering it while getting my hair cut next door. Today I got beef, cheese and jalapeño meat pies and a creamy chicken meat pie for the wife. Listen... I'm suppose to be on a diet, but... after I got in my car and began driving, I bit into the beef, cheese and jalapeño and for a split second I thought about parking and going back in for another. The juiciness and tenderness of the meat to the cheese and that hot, soft, fresh and flaky bread was heaven in your mouth. The young man behind the counter was friendly and had good energy too. Yeah, this won't be my last time coming here.

This bakery is the greatest surprise in the least likely location. The setting is ok, and there are tables inside and outside, but the quality of the food is its strength. Situated next to a Safeway in an ordinary shopping center is a delightful bakery filled with sweet and savory pastries. We went for a savory pie but were surprised at the quality and variety of sourdough and artisan breads. We tried the mushroom and goat cheese pie which is so good we will return just for that item. The chocolate cookie is delightful. The brownie is super chocolatey, creamy, and insanely addicting. The prices are fair...for our 4 delicious items the total was $21. We live 30 minutes away and will return often. BTW, the owner is an authentic Kiwi, and I told him his bakery was better than any I visited in New Zealand!

Chocolate Lamington pastry

This is a fabulous bakery. They also sell lots of breads that they make in house. They have some tables inside and some outside, so we ate there. The steak and Duncan's mushroom savory pie was fantastic. Nice and hot, flaky crust and great filling. The chocolate lamington pastry was delicious. Maybe we were stuffed by then, but I thought the lemon bar, the light colored fudge and this custard tart thing were just ok. Seemed way too sweet, but maybe we were just so full! We bought a seeded sourdough to take home - it tasted great! Worth a stop!

This has quickly become my favorite bakery! They offer such a wide variety of pastries, and I've been hooked on their ham and cheese croissants--they're absolutely delicious. I've also tried the strawberry croissants and scones, and they've all been amazing. There are still so many more treats I want to try. The staff is incredibly friendly, and I love how close it is to home--it's so easy to stop by anytime. If you haven't been here yet, I highly recommend checking it out!

Excellent service and delicious pies with high quality ingredients. Cozy for done in and you'll just get hungrier the longer you stay. Would definitely return to sample more of the breads and pastries another day.

Such a great find! Stopped by while my kiddo was her Taekwondo class. I got a sausage roll and my husband got the ham and Gruyère croissant. I really enjoyed the sausage roll with their tomato sauce. My husband said his croissant was perfect. We also got the little one a scotch egg and it looks and smells delicious. We'll definitely be coming here again! No pics of the sausage roll and croissant because we couldn't wait

Waited a long time to be able to get in here! It was well worth the wait. The beef cheese, beef mushroom pies are the best! Sausage rolls are tasty and the laminations are delicious. The baked bread is super delicious as well. Clean, bright and nice spot! Stop by!

If this spot is good enough for the NY Times to name it one of the best bakeries in the nation,…read moreit's good enough for you. All the pastries we had were A+ and worth it. Everything we ordered was exceptional. The Veggie Quiche was thicker than a textbook, custardy and light. I ordered a Marzipan Berry Scone for a friend that I took home and they loved it. There's plenty of seating and four of us chatted forever. The acoustics are great, there are water pitchers to stay hydrated, and if I lived here this would be a favorite spot no contest. My only regret is that I didn't leave with a Challah. Tip these beautiful beloved bakers well. And stop complaining about excellence.

When you walk in, there is a lot of open space and the inside felt comfortable. There was an open and flowing environment. That was great! So, where did it go wrong? The prices were just sky rocketed into another dimension. $7 a muffin and $7 a scone. I seem to have much better luck at the Farmers Market for less. I get it, there is a fancy building that needs to be paid for. Don't come here for dairy free option if you're looking for something in the sweet and savory department. There are GF options but those are still rittled and laced with butter and dairy. Like, bread is your only choice if you're dairy free. The gentlemen that helped me told me to get a loaf of bread. So I did. $12. I went with the Rosemary, olive oil and sea salt focaccia bread. The good news is, it was nice and soft like an Air b n b pillow. The bad news is, it had more salt than the ocean. With copious amounts of olive oil saturated the bag before I left the parking lot (see attached pic). My husband was not a fan either and we left the loaf of bread out for the pigeons.

YUM! I can't wait to come back and try literally their entire menu. It's almost like they created a…read moremenu that is completely catered to my taste buds. It's got all the things that make my mind go 'ding!' when I see it. Words like: ricotta, smoked salmon, avocado, eggs. All words that make me take a second look. I had come because I saw they had an egg salad toast, (I am an egg salad fiend!) but there were so many yummy options, it was a difficult decision. I ended up ordering the smoked salmon toast, which had cream cheese, cucumbers, amazingly high quality smoked salmon, capers, pickled shallots, and it was supposed to have microgreens, but they were out so, they put avocado on top on levain bread. It was seriously delicious. So fresh and high quality, portioned perfectly for lunch. As I get older, I kinda just want a well-portioned lunch that's healthy. I love my greasy heavy options every once in a while, but for 'everyday fare' - you want something that is good, high quality and doesn't weigh you down. This is perfect for that! With everything so expensive nowadays, I'd rather pay a decent price for something high quality and well portioned... there's so much mediocrity out there, it makes me tired thinking I have to pay $20 for lunch nowadays and it's not even that good. ... Might as well stay home and heat up a trader joe's frozen meal. :P But sometimes, I don't wanna do that! So for those days, I guess I'll be coming here to try another menu item. Plus, the cafe is cute, and a place you want to sit in and eat your food, making it comfy. And I like comfy! I need comfy, nowadays. Glad I found this hidden gem! Also, the owner is super nice, and clearly cares about his food. And that counts for a lot!
