Spicy burrito bowl

Still here still best Mexican food in Ipswich do I dare say burrito spice greater than chipotle, qdoba and whatever other corporate Mexican chain y'all are eating at.

Carnitas tacos, delicious!
Jamie B.

This was the perfect lunch destination on the way to a beach afternoon at Crane Beach in Ipswich! The vibe in this place was very laid back, and there was plenty of seating for lunch. I got the carnitas tacos, and my husband got a build-your-own bowl (cajun chicken topped with plantains and queso). Everything was absolutely delicious! You could really tell how fresh all the ingredients were, and I loved that they had more variety than most burrito / taco places (for instance - you can get either regular grilled chicken, spicy chicken, or cajun chicken!). My only regret (and this is fully my own fault) is that I wish I had gotten the spicy pork instead of just the regular carnitas. While the carnitas was juicy and flavorful, I found myself craving a bit more spice / flavoring on my taco - so next time, I will for sure be trying one of their spicier offerings. Their cooler is full of lots of flavors of Jarritos, which was the perfect compliment to the meal. The prices are reasonable too - for under $10, you come away here with a satisfying lunch in a welcoming environment.

Chicken bowl

We saw this place on Merrimack Valley Eats and just had to try it!. And it's safe to say it lived up to the expectations. The chicken bowl had awesome chicken and just fresh ingredients. The service was good and quick and very nice people behind the counter. The ambiance was small but nice. My girlfriend got the Barbacoa bowl (pictured) with the cilantro sauce on top and said it was amazing! I'm sure we will be back.

Delicious, far too small especially for the price.

Great Burrito! My wife had the Cajun Chicken and I had the Grilled Chicken. We give both 5 stars. Excited to have a new place in town!

And, well, I won't keep you in suspense but that first bite of the salted honey butter and jam biscuit was transcendental. It was a little crumbly but so chewy and moist, and the jam and honey butter combo was incredible. Indescribable. They have so many pastry options, as well as breakfast sandwiches, but I really had eyes only for the biscuits. Also tried the cheddar scallion biscuit - amazing. I'm running out of adjectives to describe how good these were. The key for super flaky, tender biscuits is using very, very cold butter and not mixing the dough too much. It was cool to watch people baking in the back kitchen. Got the quiche as well. Tasty, with a nice mix of egg and veggies and cheese, with a well-made crust, but next time I would just get more biscuits. Lots of free parking spots in front and nearby. There's little space inside the store, which makes the queue a bit unwieldy, but it does move quickly and it's well worth the wait (and the drive).

The bakery items are the stars of the show, though their gluten free option was one sad small almond cookie. They have brewed coffee, no espresso. They use beans from Portland, ME. Pretty packed the day we went, but luckily the line moved fast so we didn't have to do much waiting. Unfortunately the day we went, they were out of a bunch of flavors, mostly the fruit flavors that we typically gravitate towards. We ended up getting some ice cream to try anyways and it was yummy & creamy. We ordered one with strawberry + butter pecan, and another with willy wonka explosion. I really enjoyed the strawberry + butter pecan; strawberry had a bunch of strawberries in it & butter pecan was subtle but you could definitely still taste the butter + pecan. The Willy wonka explosion is perfect for if you're someone who loves chocolate candies like M&Ms, butter fingers, & snickers. The staff was very kind, they've got their own parking lot that's free to park, and a cute little seating area to enjoy your ice cream! Will definitely remember to come back the next time I'm in the area and try their fruit flavors!

That said, I succumbed recently as we were having friends over for dinner and although I made a dessert to serve, I thought it would be nice to have a few chocolates out in a dish as well. I bought a small box of chocolate covered caramel squares made by this local family-run Massachusetts company. Their website says the business started in 1979 and they now have the second generation of family members working there with the third generation (kids now) waiting in the wings. I do love a local family-owned and run business. The particular chocolates I bought were: "Vanilla Caramels" and I would describe what I got as very good quality chocolate covering delicious and creamy soft caramel inside. The shop is in Rowley which is north of Boston...we live south of Boston so getting there would be a haul. Fortunately our in-town local family-run market sells Winfrey's chocolates. I am glad I took a chance on these as we all found them to be fresh and really delicious...in fact, so good they were all eaten that night. I saw in another Yelp review that someone especially loves their chocolate peppermint bark...I saw that option in the store too and while I know a lot of people love the mint-chocolate combo..I am not one of them. But for the holidays, I am guessing this will be a big seller. These chocolates would make for a nice hostess gift or stocking stuffer too and I will keep that in mind going forward this holiday season.
