Also, try the chiles rellenos - delicious! ** Don't be put off by the lackluster interior, this place rocks! When I used to live in Fox Lake, this was my boyfriend and I's GO TO place for DELICIOUS and SUPER AFFORDABLE mexican food. I'm a taco gal, so I have never ventured from the three taco dinner with rice and beans. I love the chorizo, cochinito pibil, steak, carnitas, shrimp, and fish. The shrimp tacos and the cochinito pibil (marinated pork) are my favorite! My go-to everytime I order. We've tried a lotttttttt of mexican places around the area, and this one, for us, is definitely the place to beat. If I could give this location a 0 I would... The order was wrong, staff was rude, food was cold, and to top it all off there was a tooth like object in my taco. I am a big fan of the wauconda location and due to my new living location the fox lake one was closer so i decided to try it out. It is a VERY poor location for such a good chain. read more

I love the food here. It's always really good! The only problem I have is the guy that takes care of the register always seems to have an attitude. He doesn't smile at all he makes me feel like I'm an inconvenience. Bad customer service if you ask me! The owner use to take my order which was very nice and made me feel welcomed. read more

Avoid the teen smugness on the weekend. I've been coming to this place for years through a couple of different owners. The cooks are the same and the food is great but this obnoxious teenager they have working there on the weekends has me going elsewhere for my Mexican fix on Sat/Sun now. Okay, this is one of those places you say "I'm not eating there" just from the looks. I have to say, this is one of the better Mexican restaurants I have had the please of eating at. Oh man. I wanted AUTHENTIC mexican food after healing from my tonsillectomy and Yelp let me know about these guys (it seems to be a family-run establishment) and I'm thrilled I found it! The inside (and outside) leaves much to be desired but the food and portions are amazeballs. The beef tacos are the fullest, but the fullest flavored tacos would be the pork. Get the dinner, for less than 7$, and you'll thank me! The enchiladas are delicious too - and the burrito, though I only had it once, was yummy as well. I find the chicken a bit salty, the steak can be a bit gristly but it's delish and we seriously order weekly! read more

Had this place one day as they advertised a $2.99 burrito thinking it was a good deal. So how did this end up so bad where I felt like I was ripped off? The steak was flavorless and the burrito was extremely greasy, also watery as it seems when they washed the veggies they didn't dry them, YUCK! This place does have overly watery food. Their salsa is watery and so was my steak burrito. I agree that the seasoning on the steak was lacking and everything seemed to be of marginal quality. Ok, so my boyfriend and I just moved to the area. And this place was recommended by family. So my boyfriend picks up some steak and GB tacos. They were the most disgusting tacos I think I ever had!! It was bland, fatty meat pieces and the meat looked green!! It was so disgusting my dog wouldn't even eat it! I will never eat here again. Go across the street to Taco Bell, you'll get way better food! So we tried the Mexican grill in the strip mall across the street and a 100 times better!!! I dunno why this place gets good ratings??? My husband & I have eaten here several times, and it's pretty good. It's not as authentic tasting as I would prefer, but it's still good. Pricing is very fair. My husband stops for burritos several times a week and brings them to work for lunch. I didn't give it 5 stars because it's really good, but not great, for me. read more
