Came in on NYE as the other Mexican restaurants were close, this was open at night. The men working there were kind, respectful, helpful, and fast even when they were busy with continuous people trickling in and out, We ordered tacos, burritos, chile rellanos, tamales, chips and salsa to go. The entrees came with rice and beans. They were all good. read more

The cook at 4pm today was superior. I hope management sees he needs a raise! I've gone here for the last 3ish years. Today was the best burrito I've ever had anywhere. Please keep this chef, he is magnificent!! read more

I have eaten the take out here and really liked it, and recently was in the area with a friend, and we landed at Burrito Express for dine-in. The dine-in was really good. I had a Fajita Steak Burrito Dinner, which came with rice and beans. You can add red or green salsa to your food as both are available to bring to your table. The rice and beans were great! Rice was light and fluffy, and the beans were nicely topped with Mexican cheese. The steak burrito was freshly grilled and chopped up. Very nicely done. My compadre ordered a burrito and literally inhaled it! He seems to have approved as he was finished eating in 45 seconds. This is a great place to visit when on The Chain. I'll be back! read more

We ordered a little bit of everything and it was all great we ate everything! The guy behind the counter was super helpful running around getting things done. Seems like this place is run by a very nice family. We will definitely be back! 10/10 read more

I recently placed a large order for a group at the doctors office I work at, and the experience with Burrito Express was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. We always order here, and for good reason. Lolo is always the person who helps me, and he is consistently kind, patient, and incredibly helpful. He makes the entire process completely hassle-free, especially when coordinating larger orders, and ensures everything is accurate and ready on time. The food is always fresh, flavorful, and truly authentic. Everyone in our office enjoys it every time, and the quality never disappoints. On top of that, the pricing is very affordable, which makes it an easy choice for both everyday meals and group orders. The customer service is outstanding, and Lolo and the team truly go above and beyond. We'll definitely continue ordering here and highly recommend Burrito Express to anyone looking for great food and reliable service! read more

We have been here numerous times and every time, the food is great and the service is excellent.

We have been here before but we just finished eating some Nachos... I wish we said "No Onions" but this was Fresh & Delicious. I'm really fussy, especially with ground beef & this was made just right & hit the spot. read more

Yum! The food was hot and delivered fast and super yummy! I especially loved the rice and beans. Thanks Lolo!

Best burritos, and some of the best quesadillas. It's authentic and delicious. Their horchata is some of the best in the county. They make the food right in front of you. Staff is straight to the point, you order, you pay, you eat. Exactly what to expect from a Mexican restaurant read more

If you're looking for a taste of Taqueria Chicago in BFE Illinois, look no further. The burritos here smack! My coworkers love the tacos too. You have the option to order them American or authentic street-taco style. If you order a side of pico de gallo, you will get almost two cups of this heavenly garnish at no charge. The staff hooks you up for sure. As for the salsa verde? It's nectar. Everybody always wants to talk about how you rank as a culinary expert based off of how much heat you can handle. You know what? This fresh salsa verde is guaranteed to get you to stop in again all on its own. It's not just about the heat, but it's also about the flavor. There is more garlic to taste than what I normally come across and it's wonderful. The only thing I am going to change when I go back will be removing the lettuce from my steak burrito. I feel like the lettuce doesn't compliment everything else that's going on with it, and it adds a weird texture. I absolutely love how no refried beans were used to make the burrito. It didn't sit like a ton of bricks in my stomach. You gotta eat here!! Yum! read more

My family and I have been enjoying Burrito Express for the past 4+ years on the regular, ever since we moved to the area. I'm sure I echo the sentiments of many when I say that this little hole-in-the-wall is a hidden gem. I mean, they have Bacon Tacos! Ya heard? BACON TACOS!!! I don't know anyplace else with bacon tacos; and they're not just a novelty item, what they do to prepare that Bacon is magical! I've never had bacon that tastes so good, or is fried to such crispy perfection. I'm a Taco lover. One of those people for whom t-shirts, bumper stickers, memes, even Taco Tuesday itself was made; to celebrate our LOVE of this simple, yet incomparable tasty food, and despite the misnomer, "Burrito Express" is spot on AWESOME when it comes to tacos... You can have the rice and beans, just gimme a good ol' fashioned, Mexican-style (cilantro and onions on corn tortillas with a couple of limes and a side of Hot Sauce) taco, and keep `em coming! Ah, yes... the Hot Sauce. Burrito Express offers their own recipe for a Hotter than Hot Sauce that is a true compliment to the delicious taste of their seasoned meats. A regular order for me consists of one each: Cecina, Steak (Asada), Pork (al Pastor), Bacon (Tocino), of course, Chorizo, and either a Fish or Shrimp taco with all the fixins, done their way! That's my Go-To staple meal, but the Tortas are exceptional as well; a Bacon (Tocino) Tostada is like a specialty Mexican BLT, and really, I don't think there's anything I've had that I would even consider mediocre. It's all really, REALLY flavorful and perfectly portioned. The staff is great as well. Super friendly, and always very accommodating. I'm not sure if they are family, but it feels like a family-owned business just the same. A Happy Family, to be sure! It's taken me waaaay too long to write this review. It's like a debt of gratitude I feel I've owed Burrito Express for never once having had a complaint in all the time I've been there (which is a lot over 4 years), and now, I also feel compelled to go give them even more of my support and get me some Tacos! As an aside, the parking lot sucks. That's not Burrito Express's doing; they want to fix it for better public access, but if there's any 'negative' about this delectable diamond in the rough restaurant, that would be it. Still, with the amount of foot-traffic coming in and out of that unit, it's just more evidence that the Food and Service are more than worth the minor inconvenience! Mucho Gusto! read more

Living in Round lake il, there exists an abundance of mexican restaurants. But having tried almost all the mexican joints, i would call burrito express my "midnight love", why would you go to taco bell, when you get real food. My Favorite Authentic Tacos on the Chain Carnitas Fish Rellano tacos are my go to. Great Salsa and Sauces! Plus a ton of Jarritos Flavors

My favorite Mexican restaurant in Fox Lake. That's my story and I'm sticking with it!

Food is alright. It tasted a lot better before they raised their prices. Getting to rich for my blood.

This evening my family ordered from here, we had tostadas, steak tacos, chips with salsa and guacamole. First off, the steak was horrible!! It was cheap, with no flavor. The beef was equivalent to dog food. The guacamole, had no flavor to it at all. Now the salsa, OMG!!! Whoever made it ruined it because all i could taste was tomato sauce !! Literally tasted like sauce someone would put on spaghetti!!! I used to go here all the time but I will never return again!! The place is to die for, at least thats how my body is feeling right now ! ***DISGUSTING*** read more

I was delivering for a food delivery company yesterday and I was not impressed with the customer service. I entered the restaurant and approached the desk and immediately the 15 year old boy gives me a stern look and asks "What do you need" in a rude way. Another employee handled my order and that employee happened to be the manager. The manager advised that the employee was only 15 years old and is still learning. My advice is to remove him from the front counter. His lack of professionalism and caused me not to ever return there. read more

Not sure what happened with Jason N. It's a shame, because we've been there four times and have had a great meal each time. Dude--I know it's just a small place with a few tables but these burritos are so very very awesome. The pork is seasoned almost Indian style: cinnamon, cumin and corriander, I think. The salsa's primary flavor is fresh tomato--I'm all for spice but some places these days give you salsa that's nothing but fire. Where's the complexity? the subtlety? Going back soon to try some other things. Don't go for the ambiance. Go for the burritos; or take out. It's so goooooooood. read more

We drive from Lindenhurst to eat here when we are in the mood for Mexican. Excellent steak tacos. Overall food is really good. Decor and atmosphere leaves a little to be desired but it looks like they are slowly remodeling. Prices very reasonable. We try to go a couple times a month. Great place. read more

Love love love this place. Such a idea gem of a find here in Fox Lake. There are many fancy Mexican joints there but they aren't good. This place is like a little dive bar. It looks iffy from the outside but you know what they offer inside is legit lol. They use real skirt steak which is amazing. And for the prices you get a big size burrito. I'm here like 1-2 a week. Highly recommend!!! read more

best tacos in town.......... makes up for the filthy establishment, and I don't even care about that due to the greatness of the tacos and salsas! Update: 11/1/17 They have certainly tried to clean the place up a bit... that being said, the taco quality has gone down a bit, as have portion sizes, which I understand for cost purposes. Still love the place as they always recognize us upon our frequent returns. Good service, good guac, good times! read more

** 2/2/16 - My boyfriend and I have since moved away from Fox Lake, but we still make the 40 min trip out here just for this place because it is so good. Also, try the chiles rellenos - delicious! ** Don't be put off by the lackluster interior, this place rocks! When I used to live in Fox Lake, this was my boyfriend and I's GO TO place for DELICIOUS and SUPER AFFORDABLE mexican food. I'm a taco gal, so I have never ventured from the three taco dinner with rice and beans. I love the chorizo, cochinito pibil, steak, carnitas, shrimp, and fish. The shrimp tacos and the cochinito pibil (marinated pork) are my favorite! My go-to everytime I order. We've tried a lotttttttt of mexican places around the area, and this one, for us, is definitely the place to beat. Not to mention, my boyfriend and I both get a TON of food for a rought total of $12 every time, this place is the cheapest and best! read more

We were so excited to try this place and sadly it's our last time. The chicken in my tacos were 50% inedible as it was full of tendons and gristle/fat chunks. We asked for hot sauce, verde sauce and avocado which we didn't receive. We will not be ordering from them again as it was a huge disappointment. That is all. read more
