Burrito Beach is one of my go-to lunch spots in the Ogilvie Transportation Center food court. The food is consistently fresh, the prices are fair, and the service is fast, even during the lunch rush. If you're looking for a quick, reliable meal downtown, it's a solid choice. read more

Super solid burrito. On par with chipotle. I had the baja queso burrito. It was exquisite.

If you're ever in Ogilvie train station and need a quick bite to eat and in the mood for Mexican I recommend. Stopped downstairs on the lower level today during lunch time and had the burrito bowl and it was delicious. It has a bit of a twist to the traditional style chipotle bowls. These come with different flavors of salsa, a twist to their corn because its sweet Mexican corn and you can add jalapeño peppers which I love so right up my alley. Their bowls are spicier with more flavor in my opinion. Ingredients were fresh, and the service was fast. I gobbled it up right their in the food court. Price point is pretty much the same as a chipotle bowl around $10.00. If you like burrito bowls with flavor you will like these. read more

I stood there waiting for someone to service me. The workers kept walking past like I wasn't standing there. I said hello can someone help me. A man turned around and said what do you want? I walked away because that is not how you speak to a paying customer! Terrrrrrriiiiibbbbbbbbllllleeeeee customer service and this used to be my favorite place in the train station. read more

Great food, excellent service! Angel was very helpful and friendly. I will visit again!

The place was clean and the services was awesome but the food tasted great thanks so much for helping me out.

I been going a couple times and I love the food there also the good service they give, specially the cashier and the people on the line are really nice love the attention they give me. Really recommend this place. read more

I don't know what's with the people who down-vote this burrito stand.. First things first.. Here for breakfast (served till 10.30 a.m.)? Tap Miguel's breakfast burrito! Lunch? Go for Chipotle chicken! Over a handful of my visits there and trying different kinds of burritos, every time I eat them like somebody is going to take away my meal. And I'm no burrito newbie! So good, so fresh and juicy! Be careful, juicy means that your burrito literally can leak juices on your fancy pants. They offer some "exotic" fillings like potatoes (must try!!), pickled onions (me likey!), cabbage (sure!), fried veggies (oh yeah! my favorite! it's extra). read more

I have to say I didn't think I'd be super impressed here, but it's pretty tasty for a quick breakfast or lunch bowls. Their chicken is delish, the rice is always perfect and the salsa is amazing (I get mild). I get the burrito bowl with lettuce a little bit of spanish rice, asada chicken, mild salsa, a bit of cheese, sour cream, corn and onions. It'll cost about 6 bucks and very filling to me. read more

Expectations exceeded! Grass-fed beef! What's with the low stars? The barbacoa bowl is delicious, barely needs the extra salsa, full of a variety of yummy ingredients (very similar to Chipotle) and will fill. you. up! And grass fed beef! read more

I love burritos, sometimes I even dream about them. When I used to live in the burbs I thought this place was a godsend, but now that I've have been there several times since I moved I realize it was really only a relationship based on convenience. The location in Union Station is open pretty late, which would give me the chance to grab some grub before hopping on a train home. If you do this and get a burrito ask for a plastic container (ignore the odd face the cashier gives you), your pants/skirt will thank you later for not spilling salsa juice all over them. The burritos are decent, although I usually feel like the black beans are a bit under cooked; maybe it's just me, but they seem a little firm for my taste. My favorites are the black bean, quesadilla, and red rice burrito and the shrimp burrito. I've had the black bean goat cheese burrito, which was ok - my big pet peeve was the guy left the goat cheese in a big lump - apparently spreading it on the tortilla was asking too much (not a fan of a mouthful of goat cheese). I'm not a chicken eater, but for those of that are there are a lot of choices, the gourmet burrito menu is a variety of chicken burritos. I think it's kind of weird that they also serve smoothies and cinnamon rolls, but whatever. I guess it's like getting a virgin daiquiri/margarita with your meal (but isn't the alcohol the whole point?) - I have no explanation for the rolls. Bottom line: this place is reasonably priced and decent. It's not my favorite, but it gets the job done. If you pick up a burrito club card you can eat your way to a free burrito. read more

I really hope the owner or manager take these comments in consideration. This is seriously the worst burrito beach. Bad customer service... you see the employees faces the cook and the two ladies (including the manager, tall lady) and you can see how unhappy they are working there. And that explain everything, how they don't hi to you, they don't talk to you, the lack of attention.. and on top of everything bad food..... I came about two months ago and order the chorizo burrito....to start they don't ask you how you want your buurito, they assume is just cheese and sour cream, they don't have pico de Gallo, the three different salsas, the veggies etc... it was just real bad a burrito tortilla soaked in chorizo grease!!!( almost forgot the tall lady not wearing gloves in the line) I decided to give them another chance two months later... It's still the same.... Bad service, Bad food.... Nothing compared with the burrito beach on the Illinois Center... Michigan and Lake.... If you want real good Mexican food and great customer service ... just go to Habanero Baja Grill across the street. Madison and Canal. ( unfortunately they don't have breakfast yet) read more

We opted for burrito beach and wow we're glad we did. It's a walk up taco eatery. I ordered 3 shrimp tacos on corn tortillas and added corn, rice, salsa and beans. These were perfectly seasoned. I added chips and a drink for under 11.00 - the staff was nice and the food was super tasty. They have some outside seating and indoor - good for person traveling alone or a group. Can refill soda too. read more

Fast and full of delicious! This place cooks up your order so fast on the grill that they're practically handing you your bag before you finish ordering it! Pay no attention to the length of the line as it will melt before your eyes. I have only eaten the breakfast items but the other items are the identical tortillas with different fillings, so they gotta be good! I get the egg tacos (softies) and the potatoes are FANTASTIC! read more

Nice cheap and somewhat healthy option out of the other restaurants of the Ogilvie Transportation Center food court. The prices are decent -- you can get 3tacos with chips and salsa for under $7. The setup is very similar like chipotle where its an assembly line starting with the tortilla warmer maker. Next comes the meat, and then your toppings, which is comparable to what they have at Chipotle. The time I came, I got the Baja Shrimp during lunch time. Not sure if it was a slow day or what, but they didn't have any shrimp ready, so they told me it will take about 5-minutes. In their haste to get the shrimp ready for my order, they didn't really cook it through and I ended up with lukewarm shrimp. This is the first time this has happened to me, as I have ordered several times before. Maybe they had an off-day. The chips and salsa that came with the meal was OK, nothing out of the ordinary. Room temperature, unwarmed chips that have already been prepacked in paper bags. read more

This Burrito Beach is in the main level of this office tower and transportation hub (Metra trains stop here) in the popular food court. Unfortunately the design of this food court is nondescript and seems an afterthought despite the fine building envelope designed by Helmut Jahn. Sit at a table, and during the wintertime the gusts of wind will whip through you. Most of the seats do not have backs, so this will deter you from sitting around all day. Perhaps order a tasty combo meal to go. read more

Just started coming back after a year and a half hiatus because I was living in Wisconsin for work. Officially back in Chicago though and with the early morning train commute I stop by one of the eateries in Ogilve quite often. The staff at this Burrito Beach seems relatively the same as I remembered from a year and half ago but the menu has indeed changed a little. Looks like they now have Beyond Meat products now as well! I usually come here for Breakfast and get the Chorizo Burrito with Egg Whites. It's 4.59 before taxes and you can choose a variety of toppings to put with it. Today I did jut egg whites, chorizo and sour cream because the salsa sometimes makes it messy but did I mess up. That salsa is a must, you can also get it on the side. It makes the burrito so much more flavorful!!!! From what I know they also have different types of tortillas like Flour, Whole Wheat, Spinach or you can make it a bowl. For the price you can't go wrong. You see them making the burrito in front of you and that 4-5 bucks you spend is about the same amount for most people at any fast food. Give these guys a try for breakfast, it is definitely one of my faves!!!! read more

Imagine Chipotle with less flavor. You can't? Okay. Then try this place. Vegetarians should love Burrito Beach, because even if you order a burrito with meat, you won't notice any. Rabbits would love it too. So much lettuce, so little time. This place is an insult to burritos. And beaches. read more

One time, many years ago, I went to the beach and got burnt to a pink crisp. Another time, many years later but still some years ago, I went to the Beach and got burnt by a chicken burrito which contained pink chicken. I just don't do well with pink. Cut to the present day and the tenner I'm enjoying down at the Gulag. Occasionally, the pinko commies over at the Gulag get us zeks a decent free lunch to enjoy down at the mess hall. Some of this free grub has been from the Beach, including ground beef tacos. Being terrified from the prior experience with pink from the Beach and equally terrified of the angry, overzealous, pinko guards and evil informants at the Gulag serving this grub, I was reluctant to try it until one day I finally relented. Working yourself to the bone under the whip gets a good little zek hungry. So I tried the ground beef tacos and... ...hey, Mikey liked them. And Mikey enjoyed free tacos from the Beach at the Gulag mess hall under the yoke whenever they came available going forward. Mikey has even tunneled out of the Gulag surreptitiously to the Beach to get himself some ground beef tacos. Who knew? It's three tacos, tortilla chips and salsa for seven rubles plus. And they're surprisingly good. Mikey will tunnel back to the Beach again, he will. read more

They've got Spinach tortillas for a healthier burrito. During Lent I got addicted to their Grilled Veggie and Goat Cheese burrito and I'm still getting them on Fridays! Good service here. Arizona Teas pair well with their food. Ask for a litle cup of the green hot sauce. It's super hot, looks like the neon green of the relish you get with a real Chicago Hot Dog. And it'll knock you out! read more

This place is fine. Nothing to write home about, but their breakfast burritos are cheap compared to California taquerias. I got the Miguel's Breakfast Burrito (I think?) and it was only $4.95 for two meals worth of food. The ordering process is somewhat of an assembly line - you can add extras to your burrito (cilantro onions, guacamole, pico de gallo) or leave them out My service was fast and I got a punch card for future purchases. It's located in the food court so ambiance leaves something to be desired. read more

Think of THE shittiest taco you have ever had and then the tacos here are way shittier than that taco you think is the shittiest you ever had. Let me say that I love Mexican food ok I love food in general but Burrito Beach is the worst fast food Mexican place. Keep in mind I am not rating this against a fine dining establishment, I realize it is fast food but you can make good food...fast...I will say it is a step above a Taco Bell...it is pretty bland and has this imaginary flavour...like when you imagine something tastes better than it really did. I have had Burrito Beach here at the train station and again at the airport, I guess I never learn..same bland seasonless food :(. Everything was dry...the texture of the rice, the salsa even tasted dry? I asked myself how salsa can taste dry...well this place has created the first dry salsa. They also do this weird this where they press the burrito in this panini press after they put the lettuce in it so you get warm and cooked soggy lettuce? That was kind of gross. The only thing that made the food even slightly better is the super friendly man that helped me. He was so very polite and had a smile on his face the entire time he was making my burrito. I wish he worked at every place I visited. That is why this place got 2 stars instead of just one. If you are at the train station waiting for a train I would skip this place and go to another place to grab a snack. read more

After having tried most of the other establishments in the food court, I thought it was about time I gave Burrito Beach a chance. I was sorry that I did. It lacked flavor and my burrito was overwhelmingly filled with lettuce. With the abundance of fast food taco/burrito joints in the loop, this isn't worth the money. read more

NOTHING like the O'Hare location. I stopped for a breakfast burrito with bacon. Not sure what was in that, but it WAS NOT bacon and frankly tasted horrible . Staff lethargic and not friendly, nothing like Karen @ Ohare - see my updated review for that location, but I digress. I will not be back. I might as well have put $5 in the garbage as that is where the burrito went after two bites. BLECH phhoooey. read more

I consider myself a bit of a burrito connoisseur. Not being born of mexican heritage I can't really claim any superior taste ability. However, I eat so many of them I consider myself an honorary expert... :) That being said, I've been looking for a good burrito place in the west loop. Burrito Beach does the job, but sadly it is not done spectacularly. The burritos are decently sized, one filled me up just fine for lunch. I tried to stick with a favorite - chicken, beans, rice, mild salsa, sour cream and cheese. This is my standard burrito. The flavor was a little blander than I expected. The chicken has an authentic grilled flavor that reminded me of bbq in my hometown, but by the time I had finished it became overpowering. The rice also had good flavor, more of a southern texas taste that I remember from places I ate in San Antonio. Everything else might as well have not even been in there because it was bland... Not bad in a pinch, but not the greatest... read more

First of all the food court is probably not the most sanitary place to eat. 1-star for the Beach because the location is great if you are around the west loop and need a few choices in the food court in the NW Metra station. I have not been here since probably 2005. I'd rather walk across the river to taco fresca on wacker in the worst of winter or summer than eat here. The guac and chips are not bad but a few times the guac was already turning brown as if it was sitting out on the beach all day. The taste is not great (taco meat from a can?) and there is not much variety. read more

In an effort to help this establishment do a better job (and succeed), I sent my review to the BB website and they did reply immediately. I have to give them credit for that! However, the total experience was sub par and it can't bee too difficult to get a Mexican food assembly line working smoothly. My biggest complaints are the amount of liquid at the bottom of my "bowl" because of poor drainage during the assembly line (sloppy!!) and the overall hectic nature of the ordering. I probably wouldn't eat there again unless it was a dire situation. read more

Quality, tasty and arguably healthy option. Gloria and Selma always have a smile on their face. It's my go-to for breakfast!

FREE with purchase: Explosive gut-wrenching stomach pain. Avoid. Ate here twice and got sick once. 50% is a bad ratio. Employees cant be bothered to cook food completely because they are in such a rush to service *1* customer they have to focus I guess. read more

I've loved this place for years! I used to go to the one in Union Station, which is much closer to my work location, but since it closed I walk over to Ogilvie nearly every day. The food is delicious, they have healthy options, and the people are just about the friendliest I've met working anywhere in Chicago. I can't say enough good things about this place! Please give them your patronage. I highly recommend them! read more

Frequent customer. Today there was what I assume to be a shift manager who stood there and did not take my order. Someone else helped me after a few moments. When I got to the checkout the manager appeared again and spoke derogatory things about me in Spanish to the person manning the register as I was paying. The only thing the person at the register did in response was look at my face to see if I understood. I did. I liked the burritos here and was a regular customer, but I won't be back. I saw the staff here repeatedly treat customers with disrespect. I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt -- hoping it was simply difficult for the staff to hear customers back there -- but it appears the rudeness of the staff is legit. I will make sure people I know stay away from this place. There are plenty of good, non-bigoted restaurants in this area. Go somewhere else instead. read more

After reading some of these reviews I'm concerned my level of taste maybe outside the norm! Nah, I'm good lolol. I've eaten here once a week for the past 2 weeks. Both times I've ordered a grilled veggie burrito with rice and beans. The mixed veggies are delicious, not overly charred and a good variety of veggies. Everything has been just peachy keen about this location. Their card reader is a little slow but I like how they gently press the burrito at the end, on a griddle, to get a nice seal on the tortilla. Ingredients are fresher and the burrito is cheaper than Chipotle's a block away so.... (My burrito is only 6.40$). read more

This my new Burrito Beach in my new work neighborhood and I gotta be honest...not as good as the River East location! My main complaint lies in the fact they are often out of things and appear to not be concerned at all or they tell customers they are out when they aren't. Twice I have been here and told they are out of steak, so I get chicken (not as cool) and then the person behind me asks for and receives steak! Unconscionable! I am addicted to Burrito Beach so I will continue to give them chances until they fully push me into the arms of Taco Bell. read more

I JUST ate here and I was shocked when I read all these bad reviews. I had the beach bowl and I thought it was really good. I don't know where the heck the rest of these "yelpers" are eating at, but, it doesn't sound like Burrito Beach! The food and service is on point...TASTY. FAST. AFFORDABLE. Exactly I'm looking for on my lunch break. The 'Beach Bowl' sure beats the hell out of the ice cold meat & shady portioned "Bowl" at Chipotle. The guac and salsa is better, fresher and more authentic. My favorite is the Tres Tacos (that I always mix 2 grilled chicken and 1 ground beef) and I put the habenero sauce on it and it's so yummy! I also love the quesadillias! read more
