My boyfriend wanted to get me a gravel bike for my birthday, and being a girl, obviously one of the…read moremost important factors was how it looked. We went to every bike shop in Albuquerque, and when we originally came in to Fat Tire I saw a bike that was slightly out of the budget. We talked a little with the girl that was working (didn't get her name, but she had a mountain range tattooed on her forearm). She was super nice and chit chatted with us a little (while multitasking) but we left to see if we could find something similar online. After searching and searching, we went back to Trek because they had a bike in a color I hadn't seen and wanted to look at. Our experience there was awful and the color was not what it looked like online so we went back to Fat Tire to look at my bike again. Not only did they work with us, they were super nice and accommodating. It was busy that day, they were all running around trying to help everyone and they really sold us with their customer service, so much that my boyfriend bought himself a bike as well. They made suggestions for additional items without pushing reasons why we needed them. I hate a pushy salesman, but I also really hate being ignored. Fat Tire's team is that perfect in between - great all around, helpful and knowledgeable, but also let you look around while you make a decision. Definitely recommend them over the other guys!

I almost went flying over my handlebars. I would expect everything to at least be tightened for 200 dollars. I will not go back again. sincerely, long time cyclist

I would highly recommend renting from them if you are in the Albuquerque area. The trail along the Rio Grande is a fun place to ride.

I bought my Rad 3 bike from Kickstand Bicycle Shop and paid for it in full 403 days ago…read more More than a year later, they still have a key that belongs with the bike I purchased. Their solution? They told me I either need to come into the shop and physically pick it up or pay them to ship it to me approximately 10 miles across town. Here's the part that makes that especially ridiculous: I have already gone to their shop FOUR TIMES, and they did not have the key available for me on any of those visits. So after four wasted trips, I called the shop. Instead of simply acknowledging the problem and finding a reasonable solution, the employee repeatedly talked over me and argued with me, insisting that I would have to pay to have the key mailed. When I questioned why I should have to pay additional money to receive something that was supposed to be part of a bike I had already paid for in full, I was told, "That's store policy." So I asked what I thought was a pretty obvious question: Was it also store policy not to give the customer the complete purchase when they bought it, and then charge the customer to receive the missing piece when the store eventually "found" it? Apparently, I'm expected to accept that explanation. Let's recap: I paid for the bike in full 403 days ago. The key should have been provided with my purchase. I have already traveled to their shop four separate times, and they didn't have it. They have now "found" the key, but instead of correcting their mistake by mailing it approximately 10 miles, they insist that I either make a fifth trip or pay them more money. This is a bicycle key. It weighs practically nothing. Put it in an envelope, add postage, and mail it to the customer whose property you have been holding for more than a year. What makes this worse is the attitude. Mistakes happen. A business can lose something, find it later, apologize, and fix the problem. That would have been the end of it. Instead, Kickstand Bicycle Shop managed to turn a missing bicycle key into a 403-day ordeal involving four unsuccessful trips, an argumentative phone call, and a demand that I pay additional money to correct their mistake. "Store policy" is not a magic phrase that makes unreasonable customer service reasonable. I paid for the entire bike. I should have received the entire purchase. After this experience, I would have a very difficult time recommending Kickstand Bicycle Shop.

We were looking for two new bikes. We didn't want to spend thousands, but also didn't want to get…read moreWalmart bikes again either. We decided that about $300-$350 was our goal price for each bike. We called around and most bike shops were not selling anything in that price range. A few shops had used ex-rental bikes for $449, another had bikes for $600 but they weren't in stock and they only had 6 gears. When we called Northeast Cyclery, we expected to hit another dead end and were thinking we would end up buying from Wally World again. However, helpful guy named Wally (see what I did there?) answered our call and said they had plenty of bikes in stock that were in our price range. Woo-hoo! When we arrived, he had a $150 used bike ready for a test ride. We left an ID and credit card with him and took the bike around the neighborhood. It was a good fit and the bike was very solid, but I decided maybe I wanted a different style. Wally was happy to help us find just what we needed and we rode about 5 bikes before deciding what we really wanted was a hybrid style. Wally did not try to pressure us into anything -- we did end up buying bikes just over our budget, as they had a super comfortable hybrid bike for $399 that was too perfect to pass up. After switching the seats around for us so we could have the exact setup we wanted, Wally explained how to remove the front wheels to make it easier to load and unload in our car. They mentioned to bring the bikes back in about 90 days for a free adjustment, and that they adjust bikes for life at no cost if purchased new from them. The shop had a steady flow of people bringing in their bikes for repairs and advice while we were there. It was well organized and was welcoming to newbies like us who didn't know what we really wanted. They had a small used section with bikes from $150 and up. The majority of the new bikes were $300 and up. They had a nice selection of accessories and gear, and the prices seem decent compared to what we had seen at the big box retailers. Based on the no-pressure and helpful sales and the great bikes we left with, I would definitely recommend this bike shop.

Recently I took a bike in for repair after the chain broke and damaged the bike. Broken chain, wheel needed to be repaired, broken shifter, brakes adjusted. New seat post and because they were unexpectedly closed on the day I was to pick it up, they fixed grinding in the wheel hubs at no cost. They go above and beyond and if they find additional problems they will call to authorize repair. Highly recommended!
