    My banana tree stand
    Rosanna S.

I decided to make a baby shower gift for my friend and I didn't want to spend too much on it since I had already purchase a larger gift and I noticed this specific BCF has a baby depot department so I decided to checked it out and really glad I did! I got a baby bottle for $0.99, 2 bibs for $1.99, receiving blankets for under $10, and much more! Best part is these items are brand names that you can find at Babies R Us or Buy Buy Baby. but you pay less for them at BCF. I highly recommend checking out their baby depot because they have a lot of great items on sale esp. cute little baby clothes! On a different note, BCF has been my go to for discounted shopping, I was in need of a griddle, which unfortunately they did not have but I was able to find a banana tree stand (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/burlington-coat-factory-villa-park?select=OWsZzGITDZeWSXDzuohNlQ#OWsZzGITDZeWSXDzuohNlQ) and new cutting boards (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/burlington-coat-factory-villa-park?select=OWsZzGITDZeWSXDzuohNlQ#oZXfZodGVzKJ8DihRI6ICg) so I don't contaminate my food. I love that both items are colorful and gives my home a pop of brightness. BCF, I can't wait to see what I find on my next visit!

I was able to achieve both here! Yorktown Center and mall are the anchor of this area and have all the classic vibes of an interior mall while being surrounded by open-air shopping and eateries. Additionally, this complex also has a movie theater an a gym. So, multi-faceted and mixed used for sure. The mall has a lot of the standard mall store you expect, but they also have a good variety of smaller branded stores and even some local shops. Like any other mall right now, there were serval empty store fronts. While the shops were cool to wander through and by, I came for the food court, which is huge! Featured a solid selection of chain and local spots. The mall was clean and well kept. Worn in some places, but for the most part in good shape. Overall, solid spot to spend some time at, with or without purpose.

Firstly, I appreciated that this mall is located walking distance from a big store-front shopping center, including a hotel and stores like Target and a bus stop. A circus was on tour in the parking lot the same weekend I arrived here, which I would assume would've brought more business to the mall. It seems to be a good spot for pop-up events like that. And secondly, service dogs are welcomed for those that need them. Overall I had a great experience with the stores that this mall does have, including the biggest highlight being at Victoria Secret's where the staff greeted me, gave me a post-weight loss bra fitting and great service when checking out with my new items! Vacancies are plenty-full in this mall unfortunately and specifically I want to mention Barbra's Bookstore - a small owned bookstore in the mall that I 1000000% wanted to support, mostly because they fullllllly advertised their banned book section and had tote bags for sale around the store branded with those same banned books *see pictures* , BUT - no one acknowledged me in the store & I don't appreciate that. Decent mall, decent stores, great food court (Burning Mouth being the best place) - with lounging, sitting area. There's also a family bathroom in this mall, located by the food court that is HUGE - and I'm sure helpful to mothers nursing. A family, small-oriented mall indeed!

On Sept. 21, I consigned 8 dresses including a St. John, a skirt, a jacket and a new Kate Spade bag still with tags. I was initially unsure about consigning the bag, but Angie said she was really interested/they really wanted it and I thought why not. I like to support small business. A few days later, I realized I hadn't received a copy of the contract I signed. I called and there was more than two weeks of back-and-forth: Angie would look it up and call me back, she sent it, maybe she sent to the wrong email address, etc. On Oct. 10, I finally received a screen shot of my items and the consignment prices with the contract date 9/21/24 and expiration date 11/21/24 No attachment or contract. I didn't worry much about it, and in hindsight I was too trusting. In December, I remembered the consignment. Every other consignment shop I've worked with either has an online portal to check your items/contract or has provided a courtesy call/reminder to pick up before items are donated. Clearly it was on me to remember and pick up when the contract expired. Not that I had or ever received a copy of a contract with their terms. I'm just stating what I'm used to. I don't live in the area. I drove up on a day off during their stated business hours; a sign on the door said they were closed. Went back a few days later, found them open and I arranged with Angie to come back on Jan. 24 to pick up my items. I saw several of my items on the floor and commented on it to Angie; I should have grabbed them at that point. I then had a medical issue requiring daily doctor's visits; one was scheduled for my pick-up day/time. I called and left a message that I couldn't come in 1/24 and needed to reschedule. Angie left a voice mail the next day that she had an opening the following Wednesday, if I recall. I called back and left a message that my work schedule didn't allow me to come in; requested a call back. After another round of phone tag, I emailed Feb. 2 with some open dates and times, explaining my tricky schedule with work and doctor's visits. No response. I got busy with work, family and the ongoing medical issues. Granted, again, I recognize it was on me that I didn't continue following up after the contract date (again, not that I ever received a contract) had passed. I assumed it was clear from my multiple contacts I wanted to pick up my items, and that I would get a response to my last call and email. I finally called and reached Angie on March 27. She said she was busy with customers and would call me back. She called back and told me that a few items had sold and I'd get just under $50; everything else had been donated. I told her I was angry at the lack of response when I had tried scheduling pick-up and the utter lack of customer service throughout this experience. She apologized as though she was reading a script; I felt as if she couldn't care less. She told me I'd receive my check in 5-10 business days. Needless to say, it's now April 18, no check and I'm not holding my breath or surprised. I should have heeded the prior reviewers mentioning their poor and similar experience. Lesson learned.

I began shopping & consigning here over ten years ago. I found the experience to be convenient and extremely helpful. Catrina has great style and can find pieces that will complement your shape and aesthetic. Some of my favorite pieces were amazing finds from this shop. My fur was a GREAT deal! Several purses and accessories. Dresses and special occasion wear, too. I will say that she is very selective when selecting piece to consign and I appreciate that. I prefer to shop high quality items versus a high quantity of items. I appreciate that she will try and sell items on eBay as well as in the store to increase the odds of sale. She's always been great about supporting community efforts and has a philanthropic spirit around certain causes. If you didn't have a pleasant encounter with this store, I encourage you to return and share what wasn't to your liking. An honest conversation and an open heart can make a huge difference. I will continue to support this local shop whenever I can.

I LOVE a good bargain!!!!! My mom bought a coat and some shoes too that will reduce substantially as well. My mom thought she lost her Nordstrom card so she called Nordstrom so they can put a hold on her account but forgot by the time we were in line, she remembered it. Ebony got customer service on the phone for my mom and my mom was able to unblock her card and get a new card sent! Ebony also thoroughly explained the procedures of when you don't physically have your Nordstrom card to my mom and I. She was very patient kind and extremely helpful!!!!!!!! Technically this shopping emporium is in suburban Rosemont, and hardcore shoppers from out of town have been known to make some last-minute purchases here before flying out of nearby O'Hare Airport. We arrived via the free shuttle bus that makes a circuit around Rosemont hotspots and connects to the Rosemont CTA Blue Line station. We are not huge shoppers, but we enjoyed checking out a variety of stores and eyeballing the public art installations. There were deals to be had if you wanted them. We also enjoyed a couple of free treats from the wonderful chocolate shops, and there is a decent food court if you need a bite to eat. Amazingly there is also a 7-11 where you can get a beverage or snack, and the prices seem to be the same as those in standard 7-11 stores not embedded in shopping emporiums.
