Adj: Marvelous Mall, Superb Shopping…read more Westfield Galleria at Roseville is my favorite shopping mall in the greater Sacramento area. There aren't that many malls in our metro, so we don't have many choices, shopping plazas yes, but malls, no. I grew up going to malls a lot for fun (window and for reals) shopping, for hanging out with my cousins and friends, and I have lots of great memories from all the fun I had at different malls, mostly Arden Fair and Florin Mall, but sadly there's not a lot of malls left. Westfield Galleria at Roseville is by far the nicest in our region so I enjoy coming here. The mall itself is huge, it spans a couple of blocks. No matter which end of the mall you start at, you'll make your way through. The parking can be quite challenging on a weekend, but if you're willing to park up higher in the parking structure or out in the sun, you'll find parking more easily. There's also EV charging for a fee for those w/electric vehicles. There's something for everyone here, from the large dept stores like Macy's and Nordstrom that anchor the mall, to the food court with all the delicious mall foods, snacks, and drinks, to clothing stores, home goods stores, sporting goods, to Daiso, there are so many choices and so many interesting things to look at and try. There are even luggage stores and seasonal (holidays) stores. For those who don't care to acquire more stuff, you can have some pretty fun experiences here as there's the movie theatres and arcades so it's something else you can do rather than just shop and eat. My kids enjoy all the toy stores and when they were little, they loved playing on the Kaiser sponsored kids indoor play structure, which is a great place for some rest for parents and for kids to burn off some energy and get out their wiggles if they're getting restless (or uninterested) in the shopping experience. Overall, Westfield Galleria at Roseville remains a clean, spacious, and well-maintained shopping mall and I hope it stays that way and continues to see new additions to offer different stores and more facilities improvements and updates.

Disabled customers are clearly not welcome at the Westfield Galleria or the Fountains…read more Based on current statistics, approximately 40-45% of Americans live with some form of disability. Yet only a small percentage are wheelchair users, meaning millions of people live with "invisible disabilities" that are routinely ignored by developers, property owners, and even code enforcement agencies that continue approving projects without meaningful accessibility. At these shopping centers, there appear to be more EV charging spaces than accessible parking spaces. During repeated visits, I often found only a couple of handicap spaces near major entrances, forcing disabled shoppers to circle parking lots or park long distances away. I have also encountered extremely heavy, non-ADA-compliant doors that are difficult and painful to open. When concerns are raised, the response from some businesses is simply to "enter through the mall," which requires disabled individuals to walk even farther just to access a store. That is not equal access. For the many shoppers living with disabilities -- including those with mobility limitations, neurological conditions, chronic pain, balance disorders, and other invisible disabilities -- the experience here often feels exclusionary rather than welcoming. Accessibility should not be treated as an afterthought or an inconvenience

Ah, Wal-Mart, the bastion of all of our moderately priced essentials. I have been going to this…read moreWal-Mart for well over 20 years and I have not seen any monumental changes. However as of a couple weeks ago, I was surprised to learn that they are no-longer offering plastic bags at this location. What I received instead, was a basic paper bag, with no handles. I asked the cashier what the deal was, and she said "The manager wanted our location to be more environmentally friendly, so they stopped ordering the plastic bags and ordered the paper bags." Friendly or not, I was still charged $0.10 Cents for each paper bag. Of which, they proved to be more of an inconvenient nuisance with no handles, than being of any value. So, if you want to be able to carry out your groceries, bring your re-usable bags or recycled plastic bags. The real question is if this brilliant decision by management to save money yet still badger us for the $0.10 Cents per bag, will it negatively affect business in any way? I don't think it will be a staggering difference, yet more and more people will be inclined to go to the other Wal-Mart on Lead Hill Road and Rocky Ridge Drive or Target around the corner on Douglas Blvd., as a result. Aside from that, the staff are friendly and helpful and they are rarely without the products one is looking for. Something I have appreciated over the years, is that they do have a large selection of arts and crafts supplies. In some instances there are other products that one can find cheaper at various other locations, however it is worth sacrificing price over convenience, because I don't like jumping around when shopping. Cheers!
