I walked in and it was crowded (holiday shopping has started). I was pleasantly surprised to see the racks full and the variety was on point, but trying to navigate felt like an obstacle course. The first thing that caught my eye, a hat from my favorite sports team, which is a rarity in Arizona, so I wanted to take advantage and grabbed it... And that's when the weird vibe started!!!! I feel like that hat was like a "bait hat"... after I grabbed it, I literally saw & felt multiple employees constantly glancing my way or looking at me discreetly through the aisles during my time here. I figured it out quickly as all the corporate people were in the store, as they had purple folders walking around and commenting on display setups, mini gatherings, talking about engagement, and more. Not gonna lie, it was definitely weird. Even when I went to the fitting room, I kept that hat out in plain sight because the energy was already awkward. The shopping itself was fine, but the overall vibe was... **DIFFERENT***. Not sure what was going on, but it made the experience more uncomfortable than it needed to be, especially here at Marshall's!!!!!

I even slung them across my body to see the fit and look. I talked myself out of it since I just purchased a new bag recently. I wanted it but didn't really "need" it. I did see two new swim suits. I tried them on and decided on one. Extra bonus was it was a name brand. I was also humored in the dressing room hooks. One said possibly and the other said definitely. LOL! I checked out happy with my purchase. Large parking lot and Wi-Fi.

The weather, as we know is unseasonably warm. Twenty F above average temps. I am converting to Summer Schedule. Knobby knees and pale leg sticks showing below carpenter shorts. The dog's wading pool is full for the first time since October. The same for his secondary water pot. His 3 water sources also rovide water for many birds, maybe a sneaky cat or two. The rowdy neighborhood chihuahuas are fenced out. I drink more water too. If you want a hint about your hydration, search "Fire Fighter Pee Chart." Clear means excellent. Yellow, drink more. Orange Brown - kidneys at risk. I drink lots more water too. What does this have to do with Costco Gasoline? My bladder, and all it's connections lapped the sun 74 times. Well over 50% of men will have swollen or cancerous prostate glands, or both. When many elder men hear water flowing, the bladder shouts, "Empty, Empty, now now now, Find a toilet, Boy And How! Yelp*, post check in, asked if a restroom is nearby. No Yelp, not for 200 yards. I have a Hualapai Tribal friend. A few of his grandchildren grew up on Navy bases and big cities. They do not know the cultural tradition of finding a discreet shrub to experience bladder relief. I was raised in that culture as was my child. Pumping gas can sound like a fountain or water hose. I had plenty of water this morning, gas at Costco was in the center of my errand list. The urethra twins began barking orders to the brain. Costco Fuel is a very public place, especially as the public lines up like it is October, 1973. Waits are long. Shrubs are low and trimmed perfectly. The pump stopped, focus shufted from my bladder to my heart. I saw the price I just paid. I nearly shouted for the Automated External Defibrillator; there is one here. But I survived the COVID Bread and bird flu egg crises. I got in the car, drove home fast, glad to get my has at the Costco Business Center, 33rd and Grand Avenues.

We only come here for the essentials and sometimes we have to travel further to the other Costco stores for things they don't have at this Business Costco. I do have to admit this Costco has the best gas prices in the Valley. For some you that have a need to save on office supplies you might want to take a trip here. The parking is kind of needs some improvement.

Fast forward to current day 2026, it's giving Goodwill vibes, marking up items so high it's actually cheaper to go into Nordstrom its self and buy the item brand new with no issues. I've heard management has changed and that has been the cause for the price gauging. Honestly I blame influencers for showing off their finds and management for then taking advantage of people also looking for the same deals. But I'm over influencers and brands caring more about influencers than the people who have kept them in business for years, instead we pay more for an item than it's being sold for in the original store. It's a shame greed takes over and people lack integrity. I hope one day things can be adjusted and it makes sense to shop here again. Maybe with another change in management? One that knows what they are doing?

This place has fully committed to the "shopping as a punishment" business model…read more Virtually everything, everything, is locked behind glass. Not luxury items. Not high-end electronics. I'm talking about things that cost less than a coffee. At this point, just close the store and switch to a catalog system because that's basically what this is. You don't shop; you request access like you're visiting someone in prison. Need multiple items from different departments? Great. You'll get to experience the thrilling adventure of paying for each one separately in completely different areas, collecting receipts like souvenirs, and carrying around loose items like you're part of a social experiment. Nothing says "we trust our customers" like forcing them into a scenario where even they start questioning themselves. And then there's checkout. Last time I was here, nearly every lane was closed except one, with a line that felt like it required snacks and hydration planning. Finally get up there, surprise, it's s card only. I had cash. Cool. So now I can't even buy the one thing I waited in line for unless I start the entire process over again. Absolutely not. Today wasn't any better. Trying to figure out where you're even allowed to pay for items that aren't behind glass is its own puzzle. Because once you do pay, now you're walking around with a bag and receipt while still needing other locked items... which you then have to pay for somewhere else. At one point I even asked an employee, "Do you ever run into issues with card payments getting flagged?" Because if I'm buying the same-priced item in different departments back-to-back, my bank is absolutely going to think something sketchy is happening. She just kind of looked at me like... yeah, probably. Which tells you everything you need to know. Oh! and yes, they check your receipt on the way out. After all that. Here's the wild part: even with all these measures, you know this hasn't solved whatever issue they're trying to fix. It just makes the experience miserable for everyone else. Prices might be low, but the experience costs your sanity. I will gladly pay more somewhere else just to avoid whatever this is supposed to be. Truly one of the most unnecessarily frustrating shopping experiences imaginable.

I also sometimes meet up with friends or family or even head there on my own. There's something for everyone and plenty to see and do; however, some of my favorite stores and restaurants have closed and been replaced over the years. It also happens to be where my wife and I had our first date! The Biltmore Fashion Park is known for some great restaurants. While there are some upscale and casual restaurants there, my favorites include Seasons 52 or True Food for a good meal and Frost a Gelato Shoppe for dessert. I really enjoy having several Fox restaurants at the Biltmore. There are also many other restaurants in the area. Several of the restaurants have great happy hours, too. I miss the Crepe Club though several other restaurants have opened since then. There are also plenty of shops from upscale shops to more casual ones like Lululemon and Sakes 5th Avenue. There are fancy clothing stores that my wife may enjoy though I typically enjoy the nice courtyard or seating outside some of the stores while she shops. Then, we grab a bite somewhere together. I miss the Apple Store and Sharper Image but look forward to what is opened next. There are also experiences from the Sip & Stroll (where you can enjoy a beverage from one of six restaurants and then walk around), meet-up with the Phoenix Run Club, the Art Walk, the Swiftie Liftie Outdoor Workout Class, or one of a number of galas or special events.
