For this review, I will stay away from the controversies Hobby Lobby has been embroiled in, but note that the owners' conservative beliefs are off-putting to many people. The first thing I noticed at Hobby Lobby were the long checkout lines (only a couple lanes were open). The second thing I noticed was the loud elevator music featuring saxophones. The third thing I noticed was the weird cluttered layout. There really aren't any main aisles, it's basically a rabbit warren filled with cheap crafts and an overabundance of religious tchotchkes. Again, I came in to see their art supplies. I did see a row or two with a decent selection of canvases, but zero other art supplies. I saw one row with hobby paints, but that doesn't count. From what I could tell, there are no public restrooms. That doesn't seem very Christian to me. But maybe it was an oversight on my part, that Hobby Lobby does have restrooms and I just missed them. Upon leaving the store, I noticed the checkout lines had barely moved. Other than the fact that I don't live anywhere near this location, I have no motivation to ever shop at Hobby Lobby. Michael's is a much better arts and crafts supply store. Though, if I want to purchase art supplies, Plaza and Blick are my best bets.

After I was able to find a staff member; I asked for some assistance in the fabric department. She complained that it wasn't her department and that i should ring the bell that was on the counter. She could see that i was taken back by her response so she quickly quipped fine!... she'll help me. She ended up cutting 5 yards of fabric for me that took less than 2 minutes to do. I think this store needs more staff and more customer service training.

And yes, this location had been closed for a very long time after a tornado damaged the building a few years back. I did my main shopping at TJ Maxx, but also shopped at HG. They are well stocked. And the displays for furniture pieces were beautiful that day. They are still keeping track of the number of people in the stores abc from what I saw, were cleaning carts. I don't like the shared checkout. The line is always too long, even when the volume is low to medium. This is why I can't rate this location higher right now. Always like 200 people in the store. The grand opening was almost out of control, with insane lines. But I guess that also means that people genuinely loved the store and were excited to shop there again! 2) I finally signed up to get a TJ Maxx credit card and it didn't show up in the mail until almost a full month after I signed up. After about two or so weeks after I signed up, I just paid the remaining balance and cancelled it - I thought someone might have stolen it! Had to call their customer service and everything. Total waste of time for me. Not sure what happened but I signed up in early January and it is February 26th and I JUST got the card in the mail today!!! This TJ Maxx's specialty is their jewelry line. Each individual TJ Maxx/Ross/Marshalls usually has their own specialty, one that makes each store unique and some unique enough to drive to the middle of nowhere to. I've personally bought many nice watches here because of their selection and prices. Recently for Christmas, I bought a women's Movado for literally half the price of the retail cost, it was on clearance. I saw everything from Lacoste and Fossil to Diesel, Movado and Coach. Don't expect Rolexes and Cartier here but it'll be good enough for most people. Prices ranged from $30 to $500. The staff had a southern hospitality thing going on, which I wasn't ready for considering the nastiness I was accustomed to at most TJ Maxx stores. In all, if you need a nice watch or want to be impressed by a clean TJ Maxx the one in Mt. Airy is the one you want to go to.
