I admit I still miss when this was a Filene's Basement 6+ years ago. That's about the last time BOTH escalators worked too! It just seems when I come here every 2-3 months, one or both escalators is out, especially the ones leading to TJ Maxx (which may be a blessing but that's another review!). I came here to buy more sheets for my new bed and they had a nice selection, the store was nicely stocked, not thrown apart, but it was a Friday mid afternoon, not Sat or Sunday. The lines were just right, no long wait, but the cashiers were more into each other than the customers. I haven't tried to linens I bought but they were a good deal I guess. I like the checkout-food-drink area. I found a 20 oz of Coke Orange Vanilla Zero! IT was so new they didn't have the barcodes in the system, so a manager had me grab another product to ring it up. A very confused but very nice costumer was already waiting when I arrived. Burlington Coat Factory is pretty cool store. One a while this place was visited by me.The prices are great and they have a great selection of good quality clothing. There's a huge selection men, women and kids clothes. You also can buy some things for home. Only complaint are fellow customers who don't like picking up after themselves and literally will step over clothing that they've dropped, you have to be considerate of the employees who have to pick up over and over. A little class goes a long way. But overall, I have always had a fantastic experience at this location. Employees are consistently helpful and friendly to me. I didn't care for my visit here. I found the store to be disorganized. I found the men's section, but after seeing how it was, didn't feel like shopping. The section just seemed unorganized to me. I found the section where they had the sport apparel, and it was sparse. I wanted to leave the store, yet found it to be confusing. There appeared to be 1/2 level attached to the store, that took me to another area and different street exit. I decided to retrace my steps, so that I could exit from the entrance I entered. This place was a surprise hit. I actually bought something from here and was surprised to find myself ogling more than one piece of clothing here. They carry new discounted clothing from dresses to pants to tops etc. There are also home goods and accessories but I didn't check them out. They have random brands here but I did see some powerhouse names like Halston Heritage, Joe's Jeans, Rachel by Rachel Roy, etc. Inventory is obviously scattered and not guaranteed but in my visit I found a lot of cute clothing. Okay so this shall be short and sweet, just like my experience. I had been to a Burlington in DC, just to waste a little time and see if there were any good deals. Here in Chicago, the place is MASSIVE!!!!! The layout is ok, but when I went there wasn't anyone to assist, even though I wanted to try on something that I couldn't due to a security tag. Once I did find someone, she gave me attitude not thinking I needed to try on something before buying it. When I found someone, she an another girl were just standing around chit chatting about their plans for the night and weekend. I found out where they planned to go for dinner and for drinks, but they were too busy I guess to help someone purchase something. We had a very bad experience with your store in Roosevelt Rd, Lombard, IL today (1/30/22). We purchased few clothes yesterday and found one of the items was little damaged and went to the store today for returning. We were treated very badly by 2 of your front desk staff. If requested a return they insisted that this is a set and wanted the top piece. We were not even aware that this is a set (when we not given the set in the first place). They behaved very badly and were telling that we are keeping the top piece and returning only the pant. They refused to take the return. This is very UNPROFESSIONAL and NOT ACCEPTABLE how you treat your customers. The item is just 24.99 but the way were treated by your employees is not acceptable. I came here to find a coat and left empty-handed. I recollect Burlington Coat Factories having an expansive selection of coats in the past, but the men's section is small and cramped. I found the options limited and didn't find a coat that worked for me. That wouldn't necessarily be a reason to give a bad review--not every store can provide just the right product every time--but this store is a glaring example of why physical retail is failing. The store is messy, with items tossed around and left in odd spots. The aisles are narrow and uncomfortable. The employees are indifferent. The line at the checkout (for the pair of slippers I decided to purchase) was ten minutes long because only two registers were open and ten people were standing in line. And the shelves leading to the cash registers are full of abandoned items left when customers gave up on the long waits to purchase their goods. After navigating the slovenly store, waiting in a long line to check out, and dealing with frowning, silent employees, the final insult is a sign declaring "Your Satisfaction Is Our Goal." I wonder if Burlington Coat Factory's leadership honestly believes this sign will change anyone's mind after the poor experience provided. Are there deals to be found? Perhaps, but my pride and time are worth more than the bargains offered by this depressing store. read more

Zero stars, but Yelp makes me choose one, I think? Fail, Burlington! Bought a long parka, have worn it about 5x and washed it once. I put it on and I can't zip it. The zipper is broken. I call and Cherise tells me they won't take it back because I've worn it! And she doesn't like my attitude, so she puts me on hold for a while. Nice one, Burlington. She says they won't take it back, but I "can bring it in for inspection." Really?! I hadn't been to a Burlington Coat Factory since the early nineties! After complimenting my coworker's attire and finding out she acquired it from BCT, I reconsidered my absence from the store. Hitting up the Mag Mile in Chicago and being not so impressed by the TJ Maxx upstairs, I suggested that my friend and I check out BCT. And I was really surprised. I was thinking we could just do a quick scan of the store and leave, but that was not the case at all. Every other corner there was something I wanted to look through. The dresses. The shirts. The jewelry! Their home goods section is lacking (as was TJ Maxx's... hmmm), but I found some really quirky items that I had to buy! I had the most absolutely worst experience here. I was racially profiled while being with my friends shopping in the men's section. I am a young African American Boy & my friends are as well. We went shopping yesterday and as we were shopping, there was one worker standing there. Then 2 come as were shopping. To eventually 4 workers standing there as we shop & they made us feel so uncomfortable and racially profiled to the point we didn't feel welcomed into this store. My boyfriend and I have been here several times. Their big and tall casual and suit selection is very small and the dress shirts rarely go above a size 18" neck. Plus, most are a cotton blend rather than 100% cotton. They have decent looking 100% silk ties for $10+. They definitely have a lot of bargain-priced items, but not on the stuff we needed. read more

I went here to put in a Christmas layaway. Usually this location has a huge selection of some great items. I was very disappointed in the selection of clothes they had for my 9 year old and my teenage son. Im not sure if everything looked bare and ran through because people had been Christmas shopping or their selection process had changed. I use to love their purses. When I worked next door, I always bought a cute bag on payday. Now, I feel like blah when I leave the store. This location also needs more help with cashiers because the poor young ladies at the registers really needed more help. Their were only 2 registers opened in the layaway section and the line was wrapped all the way back to the shoe department. I was told the lines in the front were even worse. Wow! More than great coats indeed. Pretty much everything you'd find at the upstairs at TJ Maxx. Clothes at great prices if you're willing to look for the stuff you like thru all the racks. Tons of kids clothes. My favorite part of this place is the home goods section which holds a vast array of rawhide and other chewing stuff for my chew-happy-hyper puppy. This is a new store where the Filene's Basement used to be on State Street in Chicago. I went there looking for a new pair of jeans and was blown away by the selection of men's jeans that was available. I took over 20 pairs into the fitting room to try on. The selection in this store seems very good - even though the sale shoe rack was nearly empty. Still, I managed to score a $75 pair of Bandolini fancy schmancy golden glitzy shoes for $24.99. Then I used a 20% off coupon that wasn't really good until the next day - the clerk honored it because they'd made a mistake passing them out today.
