I really didn't have expectations... but my friend was a bit, 'off'... you know, when you ask your friend a question you thought you said in complete english and they act like you were speaking in Klingon? She basically started asking me to ask the person (it's after 6pm) if they have hash browns and waffle fries and other things that are not seasonal or at the right time. She just wanted potatoes in any form available causing a lot of orders correcting. But... tucked into out order?? Hash browns... that sweetheart completely didn't have to do that but my friend - it seriously made her day. She'd been having a rough couple days and was finally getting out of the house so that sweet nod was so kind. First of all, the person at the drive-thru did a great job. Unfortunately, lunch was gross. The fish sandwich consisted of two little pieces of cod that looked and tasted old, and a leaf of sad, brown lettuce. This came smashed down in paper. They didn't include the lemon wedges I asked for (which the drive-thru person did include on my order), and the 3 Walla Walla onion rings were not like they used to be. The service here is above and beyond. For fast food, you get a sit down restaurant experience, which is impressive. Burgerville is not a go to spot for me but I wanted to try the fried green beans so we went. The green beans are good and unique but best split with someone. I had the pepper chicken burger and was impressed. The chicken wasn't dried out and the peppers were sautéed but not mushy. I always hate having to "update" a review. But I must change my original opinion - the staff has changed - most notably the manager, Sally. This manager needs to do something where she doesn't have to interact with the public. Burgerville "lost" my app order. I tried to show it to them, but this manager intentionally tried to make me angry by taking an approach that she didn't care and I was bothering her. She accused me of lying, trying to create a fraud to steal 4 hamburgers, even though I had the order on my screen. Her exact words: "Anyone could of made that up". My issue here is that I believe I was profiled by her and this is actually a case of religious discrimination. I have tried to contact the corporate office in Vancouver by phone, letter and finally with the help of the Better Business Bureau. Now I understand why Burgerville has "D-" rating with the BBB, they failed to respond at all. It's too bad - Burgerville is a northwest icon that I have gone to since I moved here in 2001. Most locations don't act like this. It is my opinion that this manager, Sally, is a bigot, and that it seems the corporate management either doesn't care, or more scarry, may actually support her bigotry. For me Burgerville has lost its thrill. This location is no different. Its a slide downhill. Prices have gone up and burger size seems to have gone down. Its down on bun quality also. The shakes seem to be smaller and just not made as well as in the past. A lot of locations went through over hauls during Covid. They also seem to have changed suppliers. I'm not sure why Burgerville gets such poor ratings on Yelp, but for a drive-thru burger restaurant it is better than almost all of them with taste, service, speed, and quality. This is the first time my husband and I have never eaten at Burgerville. The drive thru moved quickly, the employees are friendly, and our order was correct. I can't comment on the ambiance since we ordered drive through. First of all, the menu has a good variety of items, including seasonal options. We got a root beer to drink, a bacon burger meal with fries and ranch, as well as a 3 piece tender. The burgers were fresh and flavorful with all fresh ingredients and was definitely a step up from a burger that you would expect to get from a fast food restaurant. The fries were crispy and fresh. The chicken tenders were hot, fresh, are real white meat chicken and not processed, pressed meat. We would definitely eat here again if we are in the area. I hate leaving negative reviews. I also realize this is a fast food joint. I usually do not frequent them to often, but usually Burgerville is one that does not disappoint, and one that I can actually stomach. Well not today. This was one of the worst ones I have been to. Not as far as service, that was fine. How ever they could stand to improve their intercom system so that they can hear somebody. My huge complaint is the food. I took a bite of my original cheeseburger, which should have secret sauce on it. Which it did, just barely. I would have loved to have had a cheeseburger to go along with all of that ketchup, and extra salt that was added to the cheeseburgers. They were pretty much almost not edible. I was not very happy, especially when I was already half way to Woodburn at this point. I do not think I will be stopping by this particular Burgerville again. I ordered the Pepper Bacon burger and it did not disappoint at all. I like the flavor of the bun and the cheese (can't go wrong with the locally-made tillamook cheese). My son ordered the Wild Alaskan Halibut and fries and they came out surprisingly tasty and crispy as well. Drive thru was the only option to order and the entire wait was about 25 min since we had about 4 cars in front of us. Ordered 2 fish and chips and a double cheeseburger. I wanted to make sure the food was hot when I got home so I ordered on the app in their parking lot. Food was brought out 10 minutes after the "ready" time and this was only after I called the restaurant. Mind you, I had to download another app to let them know I was there, which I did and did let the app know I was there. The food was lukewarm at best, fries were horribly over cooked and the double cheeseburger was so over cooked it was difficult to eat. I find myself eating at Burgerville more than I should... I just love their classic cheeseburger and at $2.05 it's the perfect little on the go snack/lunch. Burgerville is always my go-to when I visit home, because there is nothing like it anywhere else! Burgerville uses products from local farmers only in the Pacific Northwest. It always gives me assurance when eating my favorite Adzuki Bean Burger that my purchase helps support local farmers and that the ingredients are always local and fresh. Ah, Burgerville. It is a very Newbergian place. For some time Burgerville was one of my go-to restaurants, because Burgerville does have good food and a northwestern vibe/niche that trumps the other fast food places. Burgerville has good burgers and good (albeit expensive) milkshakes. In addition, (as a fry critic I know) they USED to have the best fries in Newberg--even rivaling Wendy's, but as of late Burgerville's fries have fallen from grace. Many had undertaken the quest of creating the perfect fry. McDonald's tried adding 1,000,000 ingredients (ok maybe that's an exaggeration but still a lot!)) with this in mind. Burgerville, in the years leading up to late 2019, had TRULY, INDISPUTABLY, achieved the most succulent, hot, delicious, fries known to God's creation. They were always perfectly salted and they gave you the correct amount. It has all since changed. Some noobscrub chef has gone experimental on the fries and decided to add a new oil that tastes weird. Perfection was destroyed. Wendy's now has the best fries in Newberg Burgerville (and they're cheaper!). I will still come for your burgers but not your fries! read more
