They had a great selection of hot dogs and the staff was always incredibly friendly. I hope that they can reopen in another location. We need these old-school hot dog joints. Without them, this world would be a sadder place.

It is a captivating piece of Jersey. It is well epitomized by The Hot Dog Shack and its menu board of more than two dozen customized frankfurter possibilities. I was Anthony's first customer of the day, and he treated me well. I went with his Chicago Dog (see photo) which came as described and was a mouthful to consume. I had to apply pressure and squeeze this creation down to a size that fit into my mouth from first bite to last. All beef wiener, potato roll and a side table for garnish. He even made me a cup of coffee on the house. Fun deliciousness all the way. And the surrounding buildings were just as charming and worthy of closer inspection. The cafe next door had some worthy looking baked goods that would have made a nice dessert had I the time to sit in their lovely parlor and indulge. Next time, for sure. I also had a fascinating conversation while I ate my hot dog, with Anthony's friend, Steve, who had been a minor league baseball star both in the USA and Europe. I saw old clippings about his success, and compared notes about living overseas; he as an athlete. Me as a student and businessman. That conversation made my day. So, although I stopped by for a hot dog, I left with something even more priceless - a totally unexpected meeting that was richer than I could have imagined when I woke up this morning. 5 Stars for the Dog and Conversation.

They have alternatives though - mead, cider, wine and cold brew coffee. Full bar and a very nice staff. Beer two stars .... building gets the third star and food from Cheese Dawgs gets them to four. The store is always fully stocked with drinks and the warmer has pretzel dogs along side cups of regular and jalapeno cheese. Visiting the Broken Goblet on Saturday night for Philadoptables annual Live potions social night!…read moreIt's an event that raises a lot of money to help animals and animal rescuers in the Philadelphia area. This was my first time at Broken Goblet and I was impressed. The space is large. They have a full stage set up and a really nice lounge area with sofas that are so comfortable. There is also Dillias Cafe inside where you can get what looked to be great food at reasonable prices, Menu will be in my photos. The space has a very industrial feel with some very cool lighting accents including a very Turkish inspired chandelier. Bathrooms were clean. Bar staff were super nice and even though it was crowded I never needed to wait for my drink. In the lounge there were also huge TVs which would make this a great spot to catch a game with friends. I'll definitely be back! Thank you Broken Goblet for hosting this event and to Tito's who donated the signature cocktail so 100% of proceeds went to Philadoptables.
