Don't waste your time. Drive thru waited 5 minutes and left. Didn't even order. Can't imagine the quality would have been worth the wait.

Slow, only 3 people working during rush hours. So disrespectful and looked gross. Never going back.

While traveling in northern Kentucky, he stumbled upon one of these places, The Farmstand Market & Cafe. Farmstand offers comfort food with a farm-to-table focus served in a cozy space with a bar and attached market. We started with the Goetta Hanky Panky Dip. This was made with cheesy goetta, bagel chips, pumpernickel bread, and light rye served in a cast iron skillet. The dip had a good sausage flavor with salt and some light spice while being cheesy, creamy, and full of flavor. The bagel chips were very crispy but were not served warm. The pumpernickel and rye were dry. Each complimented the dip, adding texture to the bite. My wife had the Reuben Sandwich. This sandwich came with sliced corned beef, homemade Thousand Island, pickled pig sauerkraut, and Swiss cheese on light rye with bacon ranch pasta salad. The pasta salad was cooked spot on while also being creamy. The bacon added crunch and saltiness to the salad. The rye had a great toast, and the Thousand Island was tangy and creamy. The pastrami was dry but had a good salty flavor. The sauerkraut was crunchy and had a good sour flavor cutting through the salty meat and the sweet dressing. The cheese was gooey and nutty and added flavor to each bite. I sampled the French dip sandwich and Mulligatawny soup. This was prepared with a sliced top round with provolone on a French roll. The soup was prepared with rice, chicken, carrots, onions, celery, lentils and spices. The chicken was very tender, the rice was cooked well, and the vegetables added texture to the rice. The soup was flavorful, had a wonderful aroma, and had a good salt content. The top round was thin and offered good flavor and chew. The roll was fresh and had a good chew paired with the ooey and gooey cheese with an excellent buttery flavor. The au jus had good flavor but was slightly salty, which overpowered it. Farmstand offers grilled cheeses, hot sandwiches, burgers, salads, appetizers, soups and main entrees. They also serve beer and have a full bar. The servers were pleasant and knowledgeable. The Fat Man says that The Farmstand Market & Cafe is Fat Man Approved with 1 chin.

The service was not only slow, but unfriendly as well. While we were brought refills on drinks and the coleslaw that came with one of our sandwiches, they were thrown down without a word. The same was true for our food when it finally arrived with the check as well. There was also not a word of apology for the long wait. I should mention that we were among several tables that waited a lengthy amount of time for their orders. There is a sign by the cash register (only visible when leaving!) that says "we specialize in fresh food, not fast food, so please be patient." It's an admirable goal, but not if the expectation is that customers will be fine with waiting an hour for said fresh food. Our sandwiches were good, but that may be because we were ravenous when they finally showed up! My impression is that Family's Main St Restaurant is primarily a hangout for locals to catch up with one another while waiting for breakfast or lunch. While there's a place for restaurants like this, I do not recommend it to travelers who want to eat in a reasonable amount of time and go on their way.

I stumbled upon Crewitts Creek while in Independence for my son's soccer game. I only had a short period of time, and though the restaurant and bar were pretty full, I was in and out in less than an hour. Happy Hour is available from 2-6 Tuesday through Friday (they are closed Mondays). Their pick any two for $13 from the Happy Hour menu is an amazing deal! The choices are side salad, wedge salad, bowl of Chili, soup of the day, Jr. club sandwich, or Jr. BLT with cheese. I started with the classic wedge salad with bleu cheese dressing, bleu cheese crumbles, applewood smoked bacon, red onion, and Roma tomatoes. This was a large serving and was full of toppings. My second choice was the Jr. BLT with cheese, and while it says Jr. in the name, this was a full-size sandwich featuring a grilled cheese combined with bacon, lettuce, and tomato. And it was even served with fries. I was not expecting this amount of food for a happy hour offering, but it was more than I could eat, and it was all freshly prepared and great tasting. I would definitely go back to Crewitts Creek again when given the chance.

Was difficult to get refills on bar drinks when ready and dinners were subpar. Strawberry salad chicken appeared to be boiled instead of grilled and steak special was a bit overcooked and unseasoned. Best part was the fried cheese and that always hits at this restaurant. Wedge salad was good also.
