Burger King, especially this location, has always had customer service issues. From food being overcooked to their chicken seeming like it's undercooked. Anytime I've written to Burger King I always got the same response. Some canned letter with a coupon for a free Whopper. Not once did I ever have someone actually call and address my concerns. A complete contrast from McDonald's, who responds with a call in less than a week.
The final straw for me was in June 2018 when I was shortchanged $11 by a cashier. By the time I realized it the restaurant was closed. Went bright and early the next morning to speak to a manager. I explained what happened. She asked if I had a receipt. I told her I didn't as the cashier didn't give me one. She said there was nothing she could do without a receipt. I asked about surveillance footage. They could see I was there as I remembered about what time I had went. They also should be able to see the amount I had give (i.e. a $20 bill). She said that without a receipt nothing could be done and if I wanted someone to look at the surveillance footage I needed to come back the next day to speak to a manager. Had an attitude like she could care less what happened.
Came back the next day and asked to speak to the main manager. I didn't expect things to do well considering the main manager had a don't give a crap attitude and seemed even snotty towards her own coworkers. I explained the situation. She also asked for a receipt. I explained to her as well that I wasn't given one. She told me the same thing that nothing could be done. I inquired about surveillance footage. The main manager said that she didn't have access to the footage as it's only available for 24 hours after an incident happens.
I was blown away. You mean to tell me a manager only has access to 24 hours worth of footage? She had also followed up by saying even if I had gone back the next morning it would be too late. I asked how. After all, the next morning would have been barely 12 hours after an incident happened. She said,it just would be. Wouldn't give a solid answer.
I called corporate about the incident. Less than 24 hours later I received a call from a man identifying himself as Charles Colbert. He said he's a regional manager for Burger King. I explained the situation to him. He said the most he could do was offer me two coupons for two Whopper combos. I refused the offer and said all I wanted was my money back. He tried to justify the offer by saying that was worth more than what I was shortchanged.
While this is true, I reminded him I had no desire to deal with Burger King any longer. Let's say I accepted the coupons and they messed upo again. Then what? It was obvious the lower-level manager and the main manager didn't give a crap about what went on. Why would I want to continue doing business with a company that didn't care?
he said that was all he was willing to do. He wasn't willing to look at surveillance footage and even had a defensive attitude about the employees. I told him I'd take the matter to court. He busted out laughing. that's right a REGIONAL MANAGER busted out laughing. I hung up on him.
Contacted Burger King corporate four times. Once each week. Finally sent a letter of demand to their registered agent. Was contacted a couple weeks or so later by the company that owns the local Burger King locations, GPS Hospitality. After arguing with them they finally agreed to send me my $11. Never once did anyone apologize for the poor behavior. I see why Burger King has such poor customer service. When you have managers that walk around with a lazy don't give a crap attitude, a regional manager that laughs at customers, a corporation that NEVER responds, and a corporate entity 9GPS Hospitality) that shows no remorse, it reflects on the company as a whole. read more
