Highly recommend for a great burger!…read more In town for 2 days on a short work trip and was looking for something quick to grab for lunch when I came across Rascals. I wanted something different and the burgers looked awesome, so I decided to give it a try. Absolutely did not disappoint, it was one of the best burgers I've had in a long while. They don't skimp out on the food either, the burger was huge and the fry portion was more than I could eat in one sitting. The guy working the window, who I assume is probably the owner, was super friendly and accommodating. He took the extra time to make sure I had everything I needed and checked to make sure I didn't need anything else before I left. Would recommend 10/10.

I finally got up the nerve to go inside, and discovered I had been wrong. I've been there during the day and at night, and haven't seen a hint of trouble. It's a blue collar bar for sure, a mix of people my age and older people. The bartenders are exceptionally pleasant and the regulars have all been nice so far. The bar is L-shaped and located immediately inside the door, there is a large seating area to the left of the bar. On a recent visit, my brother and I were mistaken for traveling musicians by an older guy to the left of us. We still have no idea what gave him that impression. :) As decent and friendly as this place turned out to be, it's not for hipsters or the casual drinker. This is the kind of place where alcoholics and alcoholics in training go to spend their evenings getting their daily medication. Trivia fact: Ranch House is the oldest bar in Eastern Jackson County. It has been in continuous operation for about 55-60 years, possibly longer. The building is probably much older than that.
