Took a bite of my ham egg and cheese croissant this morning. Looked at the egg I just bit into. It looked a bit discolored. Lifted the bun off. It was starting to turn green in spots. Yup. That's the last time I go to Burger King here, ever.

The great amusement park architects of the world, the men and women who have paved our planet with…read morescream machines and loop-the-loops, tend to see food as a necessary evil. A means of keeping the customers alive just long enough to extract their last dollar before they collapse from either exhilaration or dehydration. And so, in most places, you get the standard issue amusement park fare: a limp hamburger at the price of a used bicycle, a pretzel harder than the pavement beneath it, a soda that costs more than your father's first car. But not at Knoebels. At Knoebels, they believe food is part of the show, an act unto itself. So much so that they have won multiple Golden Ticket Awards for Best Amusement Park Food in the Nation, which is the closest thing we have to a Nobel Prize for deep-fried brilliance. (Yes, Dollywood is in the conversation, but Dollywood is playing catch-up, while Knoebels is out there setting the pace.) Here, you can have a full sit-down meal at The Oasis, where the air is thick with the scent of home-cooked comfort. You can grab an ice cream (sort serve or hand scooped) that, defying all odds, is better than 90% of what you'd find outside th park gates. You can walk up to a stand and, depending on your mood, leave with perogies, pulled pork, fresh-cut fries, or a funnel cake so perfectly crisp and golden that you will wonder if it was fried by angels. And unlike every other amusement park that keeps the menu unchanged since the days of the Industrial Revolution, Knoebels is always tinkering, always innovating, always adding something new, because they know that the best way to keep winning is to never stop trying. And here's the kicker: Knoebels doesn't have to do any of this. They could serve overpriced slop and force you to buy it, like most every other park does. But they don't. Instead, they do something radical. They let you bring in your own food, encourage it even. They even provide free picnic areas. It's an act of either extreme confidence or benevolent madness. But here's what happens: people eat the Knoebels food anyway. Because it is that good. So if you ever find yourself in Elysburg, PA, and you hear the distant clatter of a wooden roller coaster, follow it. Eat a meal that doesn't taste like an obligation. Eat a meal that was made for joy. Eat at Knoebels. And then, for the love of all that is holy, go ride the Phoenix.

The food is always good and the service is also good. They have a large menu . I always like going…read morethere.

Everything you'd hope to find in a kid-friendly lunch place and then some. Service was pretty good, too. And the prices are beyond bargain for 2025. It's also kind of the only game in town for a sit down meal since so many people barbecue or bag their own lunch. No booze but this is a rural PA amusement park, what do you expect?

Drawback was a fly in the restaurant- it was only one- but anymore than that would gross me out. The menu offered everything from appetizers- to entrees to sandwiches- my husband enjoyed the fettuccini and I ordered the Mac and Cheese. The portions were sizeable. Our meals came with soup (or salad if I remember?!) we both opted for French onion. I was a little disappointed in the French onion soup at first as it was not served with melted cheese on top from the broiler- it was served with not melted shredded cheese. The soup was delicious!! Better than I had expected and not salty- they also serve it with bread cubes. There was a bread basket served with packaged run of the mill rolls. My Mac and cheese was delicious and husband enjoyed the Alfredo. I would definitely go back to try the chicken and waffle sandwich- sounded so unique. Knoebels is notorious for good food and I was pleased with The Alamo. Kaylie gave great service and was sweet, friendly and attentive! Not easy to find a server to possess all three attributes.

Besides the staple menu, there was a rotating menu featuring a soup, mussel dish, flatbread, burger, and pasta. The food took some time to come out, and everything was rather bland across the board. The interior was decorated nicely for the holidays though. *Hummus Platter: a huge shareable for $10. The crispy naan resembled the Costco version but fried. The naan itself worked well as a base for the hummus, although the hummus was neither smooth nor flavorful. There was no fragrance from the chickpeas, and it tasted rather unseasoned. The selection of peppers, carrots, and cucumbers was decent. *Garlic Butter Mussels: their monthly mussel dish. The mussels were cooked well and coated in a one dimensional sauce. The sweet wine was cooked down with lots of garlic, while the butter was subtle. I wished there had been a bit more toasted baguette to balance the one pound of seafood. Note there is a 3% credit card surcharge. I could not find this listed on their menu and but I saw the charge on my receipt. I enjoyed the few beers I had, and the food was acceptable for a bar. With some improvement to the flavors, this could be a worthwhile visit for a bite and a drink.

The fries were crispy on the outside but still fluffy on the inside. They were dry service was good not many people in the restaurant for lunch. It was a Tavern type of decor. My only issue was the beer cheese. It tasted too much like beer. The beer flavor was definitely over powering. The other special sauce wasn't great but it wasn't bad either. A typical thousand island type of sauce. But over all it was pretty solid. I would comeback and try something else.
