We walked inside and the staff told us we could sit wherever we wanted. Our waitress came over and was very nice and chatted with us for a bit. We told her we're passing through and our reason for being in Groveton. She gave two referrals for attorneys and that's just what we needed. I wish I could remember our waitress's name. As far as the food, everything was delicious. They give complimentary fried pork rinds that are made in house. We had two boats of them and got a bag to take home. My sister and I both ordered the fried catfish and fries. Great flavor and not greasy. I would recommend Davy Crockett Grill to anyone.

Okay, I will get a soup and sandwich combo as you can get a whole sandwich. Well, I got charged for a cup of soup and a sandwich. I did get a cheeseburger, but that is a sandwich. No explanation, no forewarning, just a charge. Oh, the meat in the burger tasted stale. We ordered diet Dr. Peppers with our meals. This is served in hot cans with a glass of ice. Also, the drinks had lost their sweetness due to improper storage. So, we had watered-down and not sweet sodas. The soup of the day, touted as taco, was chili. It was good, but the whole affair was a disappointment. The vibe is of a place on its way out as I too am.

They really shouldn't be allowed to keep all their old reviews from the Mimsy's era, because it's a completely different experience now. The current rating on yelp is for the old establishment, not this new thing. I used to go here regularly and get some of the best BBQ in the area, but now they want to transition to some kind of hybrid counter-service-lunch + fine-dining-dinner place. We couldn't order dinner entrees during lunch, so I thought maybe I could get away with an appetizer and a side as a meal. The crawfish tails were $9 and I got less than 2 ounces of crawfish, and they weren't anything special. Maybe 20 total pieces. I should have taken a photo. I honestly couldn't believe it. If I got this for a table of 4, everyone would get about one bite each. The three of us spent over 70 dollars (FOR LUNCH, no alcohol) and two of us went home hungry. The only person who got a full meal was the person who spent 30 dollars on an average sized sandwich. No more brisket, no more ribs, no more cheesecake (among countless other things). All removed from the menu. Reuben sandwich - $25 for a lunch menu sandwich. Ribeye for $60? I'll just make my own and not feel ripped off. Probably never going back. Just pissed off afterwards, which is something I never thought I'd feel going to this place.
