Friendly service and yummy burgers. I ordered the black bean burger . Overall satisfied with my order however next time I will opt out of the tomato spread as I found the tomatoes to be not ripe . I was able to scrape off the tomato spread and add more of their signature sauce instead. They have a variety of sauces and they are self serve! I thought the marshmallow sauce was interesting. Food came out and was brought to our table by the kind workers. They checked on us throughout our stay and made sure they addressed anything needed. The only reason I am removing 1 star is because it is pricey. 2 burgers with fries and drinks plus a kids meal ran us $50. Juicy, cooked perfectly with crispy bacon and a buttery, toasted bun. The sauce bar is on point and free!! Yes! Ranch, chipotle may, Szechuan ketchup, their signature 21 sauce...all amazing and free! I could smell the burgers outside and thought I could get a really good burger there. I was trying to explain to the guy why I came there because I couldn't find just a regular hamburger. The guy kept cutting me off. He was kind of short with me like he was in a hurry, even though there were only two people there at the time. I believe that every time I've been the owner has been there so they're a small business that tries to do things right even though they have franchises in other places in the country. Honestly...I was surprised how nice everything really was. When we walked in, we were helped by the owner or at least one of the owners and he was very nice. He was very helpful with our first time order and had a very pleasant conversation. The place is very clean, well lit, our food came out, decently fast and was fresh and hot. I had a cheesy made with a chicken patty and added bacon. The fries were a little bit more crispy than I like them to be but overall, my experience was very pleasant. We also had some type of strawberry milkshake. That was absolutely phenomenal. We were in the mood for some burgers and didn't want to go home and make her own. No one in the restaurant but me ordering my lunch for work around 3pm. 2 cheese burgers and a cup of onion strings approx $30. The onion strings were very greasy and there was a pool of grease at the bottom of the cup. The burgers were no where near worth $11 each. Would never recommend. I've had several awesome gourmet burgers from different places and this definitely not one of them. Better off going to Red Robin or better yet Wahlburgers. Checked out this place because of all the amazing reviews on "find me gluten free" and their website states how great they are with Gluten and contamination. That is not the case at all, within minutes I got a massive migraine and sick to my stomach, so I pulled out my Nima gluten scanner and sure enough it found gluten. (Yes I should of totally done this before, but I forgot I had it on me) It is just upsetting due to reviews, their website and their employees being made aware (and them saying "yes, I put the GF bun in). Outside of the Gluten, the burgers (and GF bun) wasn't even that good-especially for the price. At least 2/4 of our party liked it (kids), but they got chicken tenders. read more

Many of us have our own burger rankings, places that we go for that satisfying meal. For me, it's the basic, fresh burger, near home, with delicious fries. Nothing fancy needed. However, that does not stop me from trying a new place and seeing what else is available. I don't know if it was the odd restaurant layout, the limited menu displayed, or the indecisive people in front that delayed the order process. It should have been easier than it was. I could speculate about the paradox of choice or point out that a large menu probably does not make sense in this type of restaurant, but I won't. Instead, let's talk about food. The restaurant offers numerous patty choices, beef, chicken, turkey and veggie and numerous burger toppings. I went with the Gruyère beef burger, topped with asparagus, bacon, over-easy egg, tomato, and lettuce. I also ordered avocado as an extra topping (which incidentally did not make it to my burger, initially). It had everything on it and should have been tasty, but wasn't. Instead, the burger was fairly bland. As well, the brioche bun disintegrated after a few bites. If the order of the toppings were reversed, the bun might have remained intact. The restaurant offers a vast number of sides. In addition to traditional and sweet potato fries, Burger 21 also offers cheese fries, onion straws, and chili. The onion straws were fantastic - crispy and nicely seasoned. It went well with all of the sauces I selected to try, honey mustard, Thai ketchup, chipotle mayo, cider apple. Burger 21 kind of reminds me of shake shack but a bit more reasonably priced. I found the selection of burgers here to be plentiful and they have turkey, chicken and even seafood burger options. They also have gluten free buns and burger bowls which are great options for those of us with Celiac or people watching their carbs. I had the shroom burger on a GF bun and it was delicious. I like that they ask you what temperature you want your burger cooked because I find a lot of the burger chains cook them well done and I enjoy a medium burger. Here, it was cooked perfectly. My fiance had the double bacon burger and he also really enjoyed it. We shared an order of half fries and half sweet potato fries. While I think it's awesome that they have that half-half option, I would skip the fries altogether next time, they were just okay. But if dipping sauces are your jam, they have about 10 different sauces to try. I added a little chipotle mayo to my burger and it was great. If you hit the gym already and are feeling like blowing your entire caloric intake on one meal, they have some pretty yummy sounding milkshakes available such as PBJ and salted caramel. The burgers are always fresh, and I love their fries and shakes. Had an issue w the app, got charged for an order I didn't realized I'd placed. I wanted to go back and edit it and it was gone, so I gave up and went elsewhere. Come to find there was a charge from using my card a previous time. The owner reversed the charge immediately when I called amd was very kind. I don't blame him for this, it's definitely an app flaw. Just finishing up my first visit to Burger 21. I decided to give it a try since I have passed by so many times and have been curious. They don't have a menu board which is kind of interesting, but there are plenty of menus to look at. I could see things getting a little congested if there was a long line. They also require a signature for credit card use, which I will never understand at a place like this. Selection of burger options are great. Beef, chicken, turkey, veggie, and more. I ordered the BBQ Bacon Burger and Regular fries. When I went to get my ketchup, I was pleasantly surprised to see tons of sauce options. Different types of bbq sauce, dressings, thai ketchup, etc. Food came out quickly and was delicious. The burger itself was not too greasy and the fries were great (McDonald's-esque). I liked that I didn't worry about going into cardiac arrest afterwards like I do at other burger places. Burger 21 faces very stiff competition with 4 other fast casual chains in the same strip mall and many others just across the street. My brother got fries with his order and I tried one and it was so salty it made me pucker up and want to spit it out. I have spent a lot of money here, I work close to their Novi, MI location. on their app I have there "Burger Boss" status... I haven't yet seen any perks to this title (future will tell). I have celiac disease= auto immune disorder = CANT DIGEST GLUTEN. Pro's: - It seems as though this particular location I can say does an EXCELLENT job with not cross contaminating. I have never had any symptoms following eating here. They even have a separate mixer for the shakes. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK ON THAT FRONT. - The food is great tasting and FAST. I have never had a dry burger here and it is always cooked to my liking. - Seriously has the best shakes - I enjoy their signature 21 sauce in fact I think they should market this harder - it is the distinguishing note on the burger. - Staff is EXCELLENT and friendly - best I've encountered if I'm honest. - Owner is so friendly and definitely passionate which is important in food quality. Con's: - It costs about $16 for fries, bacon cheese burger with a substituted gluten free bun. Being gluten free everything is always expensive... I just wish they would add in some extra fries just a bit more in there "side of fries".... Very good food. Came here for the soft opening today, and I'll be doing a review on my blog later too. We were able to order an entree, side, and drink, so I chose the shroom burger, sweet potato fries, and a cookies 'n cream milkshake. My mom got the Monterey chicken sandwich with turkey chili and a Bananas Foster shake, and my dad got a bacon Cheesy Burger with French fries and a soda. The burger was probably one of the best I've had in a while - thick and juicy. All burgers are cooked medium well there, they said, unless you specify otherwise - looked more like a medium to me but I was fine with that. I'd compare the sweet potato fries to Smashburger's, and both are good. The milkshake was also delicious, and I loved that they have a shake bar in the back of the restaurant - very vintage-feeling! My only dislikes here was that on a normal day, it's a little pricey - my burger was about $7, the fries about $3.30 or so, and the premium shakes about $4.50 for a small. Talk about a big burger... I went here for the preview day (before its open to the public) and I can't believe the amazing service I got. The burger wait time was fairly quick, but it wasn't too busy at the time I went. And the shake came right up as well. They had several employees going around greeting the tables, one guy went as far as refilling my drink at the self serve pop machine because I was too lazy to get up and get it myself, he was a rockstar. I wish the employees wore name tags so I can give them some shout outs in this review. I will for sure be back here for all my burger needs. read more
