We visited the restaurant at the beginning of our stay and could not have loved it anymore; therefore, we decided to go again. The calamari, croquetas and seafood paella were divine. Our second visit we had the same thing for appetizers and changed from seafood to a duck paella. When the paella was delivered it was cold as night and the rice was very undercooked. We flagged a server down to let them know and it was quickly taken away. We waited patiently since we understood they were busy and it isn't like we are back home, where things such as this might have been addressed differently. After 30 minutes we signaled what I can think of was a supervisor/ lead sever or manager because of the wait. He figured out we were waiting on our paella to which he brought us. Three tables had received their food, dessert and bills before we got our paella. There was no type of follow-up to our situation. We had to flag again to be able to get our bill. At this point, we had been at the restaurant for over an hour, but again, we were enjoying our time and we had no rush. Once our bill was brought to us the food was all itemized and nothing was addressed for the inconvenience of lack of service, wait time or food issue. I decided to question the supervisor and I was given a blank stare, puzzled blinking eyes and attitude. JORGE, who he said he was, told us he was charging us bc we still ate the food. She was very sassy, gave us a heaping amount of attitude and when she decided she had enough of my questioning, she rolled her eyes, sighed a loud and walked away. She then came back with the new bill and slapped it on the table, as if she was that bothered. Unfortunately, because of this situation I wouldn't return; however, the food is excellent.

We ordered: - organic potatoes bravas Had so much bravas they all taste good haha different flavor profile here but it was tasty, potatoes crispy. - palamós shrimp croquettes Textures seem to be the same as the Barcelona way, puree consistency filling, but flavor was spot on i enjoyed these. - Confit octopus finished on the grill, smoked paprika oil, osmosed orange, fennel, black olive I don't normally like octo, but this one had good tender texture, not extra chewy or rubbery - Beef tenderloin, green peppercorn jus, crispy confit potatoes, grilled zucchini Good tender texture and juicy, the green peppercorn sauce paired real well with the beef. The crispy potato confit was like, flaky outer shell and a scalloped potato inside. - Homemade Truffle Raviolis in a creamy truffle sauce with Parmesan and sage Give me 3 of these orders. The truffle raviolis was bomb! - 2 glasses of rose to wash it all down! Service was kind, and quick! No complaints here really. Took awhile to get our check was about it.

Second trip back to Barcelona. Had to make the right restaurant choices for my favorite tapas…read moredishes. I was definitely right on the mark as all restaurants I've walked by before dinner wasn't as crowded as this. And this place had a line out the door. Pan con tomate (toasted bread with tomato spread) was done sooo right here because they used crisp brioche bread and the tomato spread had a nice balanced ratio of olive oil blended into it. The patatas bravas (brave potatoes) took me back to the first time I had this in 2018. Such good crisp skin, soft fluffiness and that aioli mayo signature sauce on top - I swear I feel they make their own sauce for this dish. Grilled octopus here is special as instead of a tentacle - you get a fatty piece with multiple cuts of the octopus. Even better just as you would get multiple pieces of fatty toro in an omakase. I just loved the ease of dining in Barcelona where you share small intricate flavored plates with a glass of wine to balance these dishes. It was a nice long but roomier restaurant in the back. Very deceptive to the eyes but in a good way. You get to see the chefs cook near you that makes you appreciate the work of art put into the food. And can't forget the oxtail dish that's uniquely in the form of a patty and broken up into shredded meats. Fabulous to everything.

Thank goodness we had a reservation, otherwise the wait time for walk-ins was quoted to be 2-3 hours. We were seated at the counter, smack-dab in the middle of all the action. The drinks were just okay, but the tapas were great! We tried the anchovy dish, jamon, tomato toast, paella, padron peppers, spanish omelette, mussels, and finished with the crema catalana for dessert. All of the dishes were outstanding and they did not disappoint. Service was phenomenal and they were all very friendly and engaging with diners. They guided us on how many plates to order and stopped us from ordering too much, which I appreciate since we weren't sure how big each portion was. Would definitely come back if I had the chance!

The street outside this resturant is not safe in my estimation. I mean my beautiful daughter did get chased by "a newer uninvited resident." Inside? The best resturant in the city. Maybe in all of Spain. I could make a case for it to be THE BEST RESTURANT ON EARTH. (Except that title goes to Commanders Palace in New Orleans or Caviar Kaspia in Paris. But maybe not.) Great service. Great food. Great feeling place. Drawbacks? The neighborhood. The entrance to get in is AWFUL. The place is always too crowded and it can get very loud. Yet I am giving it the maximum stars? "Why Mancow," you ask. Ready? I don't know! Its just THAT SPECIAL.
