Exceptional as always…read more Denise took care of us, as well as the bartender, in their cool yet warm, modern establishment. The food is always exceptional. In a nutshell, the chef caters to flavor, and balanced flavor at that, which makes each dish phenomenal. I had the grilled octopus appetizer and it is the best octopus I have had since 1989. That is no lie. Their shell and cheese, small beet salad, hummus, and fall risotto special are equally fantastic in their own right. Enjoy the food, drinks, and quiet atmosphere. Whether small plates, entrees, or desserts, you have come to the right place. One of my top restaurants in eastern-Pennsylvania.

It's open Wednesday through Saturday from 4:00 PM to 2:00 AM and Sunday from 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM. My friend and I made our first visit early Friday evening. The service was good, and the food more than lived up to expectations. We started with tender, well-seasoned beef skewers, crispy buffalo wings over blue cheese, and perfectly cooked roasted cauliflower paired with a tasty tzatziki sauce and pickled onion. For my entree, I ordered the maple-glazed short rib. It was incredibly tender, practically melting in my mouth, and came with creamy sweet potato puree and roasted shallots. My friend ordered the rich, deeply flavorful bolognese. Although she received the small plate portion rather than the entree, it wasn't a major issue as we had more than enough food. There are still many items on the menu I'd like to try, and after such a strong first visit, I'll most certainly be back.

Quality was on point and the prices were really reasonable. Staff was working hard, but still really friendly and efficient. Definitely a must try! Check out the cheese curds with honey, tarragon, and macadamia nuts for a crunchy and unique dish. They paired beautifully with the house made pickles.

Unfortunately, there was a strong cold draft at floor level, leaving our feet uncomfortably cold throughout the meal. The hostess was sweet and greeted us with a smile. The food service was unremarkable. Our waiter was not particularly friendly nor personable. The drinks were a weak start. The red sangria was poor. The bourbon cocktail was an odd mix of bourbon, apple cider, and other elements--an awkward, Frankenstein-style whiskey sour that simply didn't work. Worst of all, both drinks were served in thin plastic cups, which immediately cheapened the entire experience. I ordered the falafel sandwich and specifically requested a toasted bun. It arrived not just room temperature, but cold. I sent it back, and it returned burning hot... the bottom soggy... literally too hot to pick up... with no browning or color change, clearly microwaved. Microwaving is not toasting. At that point, the sandwich was inedible. I removed the bun entirely and ate just the falafel, which was dry and largely tasteless. At this point I knew coming back to this restaurant was a mistake. Food timing was another issue. The dishes took roughly 45 minutes to arrive after the drinks, possibly longer. We were all getting annoyed and what started out well when we first walked in turned negative. I wasn't impressed on my first visit years ago... and this second visit confirmed it. Between the poor drinks, cheap plastic cups, ridiculously long wait (with no explanation nor apology), and careless food execution, there's no reason to return.

To get you to try new things, they'll even toss in freebies on larger orders and those never disappoint either (and it works, I've ordered those things other times). I'm glad I found this gem of an Indian restaurant in the Lehigh Valley.

The people are also friendly, which makes the experience feel welcoming. That said, there are a few things that would make the dining experience much better. On our last visit, our group waited nearly 30 minutes for the food to arrive. During that time, the table was completely empty except for water and place settings. When food is going to take longer than usual, it would make a big difference to bring something small to the table, even pappadums or another light starter, just to keep guests happy and occupied. It would also help if someone came over to apologize, give an update, and let guests know how much longer the food may take. Also, the cold plastic plates should really be upgraded. They feel cheap and tacky, and hot food should not be served onto cold plastic plates. Real plates would immediately improve the presentation and overall dining experience. The main dining room could use more warmth and charm. Right now, it feels a bit sparse and not especially cozy. But the room you first enter is in much greater need of attention. Honestly, it feels rather depressing to eat in that area. It would not have to break the bank to make it warmer and more inviting. A little decor, better lighting, warmer colors, or even a few thoughtful touches would go a long way. Right now, it just feels like very little effort was made in that space and that it's just a path to the cash register. One final suggestion: when it is time to pay, please do not stand over guests while they review the bill and decide on a tip. It feels uncomfortable. Either leave the device on the table or bring a paper bill first, then return when the guest is ready. Overall, the food is very good and the people are friendly. With a few service and atmosphere improvements, Cumin 'n Eat could offer a much better full dining experience. Our family really loves the food so kudos to the great chefs!
