I tried their pick up option online so I could order and pay without waiting. The app even tells when your order is ready. I decided to build my own sandwich and ordered a roast beef and turkey sandwich on Dutch crunch with everything. Picked it up to a friendly greeting and smiles from all of the staff. Took it home to eat and wow this was a huge sandwich and full of ingredients. Unfortunately I noticed quickly it was all turkey and no roast beef. They forgot my meat. I sure hope they get it right next time. I should say that even without my roast beef this was an incredible tasty sandwich. Every bite got better and better. I honestly can say I haven't had a deli sandwich as good as this in a very long time. Probably the best Dutch crunch roll ever and so soft with the perfect amount of crunch and sweetness on top. This sandwich was pure heaven and so big but I was hungry and wanted to go right back for another. Still one of the best sandwiches in the Bay Area and I'm so glad there finally in my hometown of Pleasanton. I'll be back soon and very often I guarantee! It's a must try if you're in the area or even if it's a bit of a drive. Tell em Scotty sent you.

I love that the calorie counts are included on the menu, and the portions are just right. The service also reminds me a little of Trader Joe's customer service. Everyone is usually super smiley, personable, and genuinely helpful. If something isn't quite right, they'll actually try to make it right instead of making you feel like you're being difficult. My usual order is the Avocado & Quinoa Salad, with the "Not So Fried" Chicken sandwich or salad-style version as a close second. I also really like that you can turn any sandwich into a salad. If you order in person, the staff will usually let you choose from several different salad mixes, which I wish was also an option in the app. The seasonal menu is probably one of my favorite things about Mendo because there's always something new to try. A few summers ago I had a spicy prosciutto and peach sandwich that was honestly out of this world. It's still my favorite sandwich I've had here, and every summer I hope it makes a comeback. I may or may not think about that sandwich more often than I should. The 1/2 sandwich option is also great when I want something smaller since it comes with a side. I just wish there were more salad choices besides the kale and apple rainbow salad. On colder days or when I'm feeling under the weather, the lemon chicken and farro soup is excellent comfort food. And the basil pesto shells are my boyfriend's favorite side, so those almost always end up in the order too. There's a few tables outside, which I prefer when the weather's nice. Inside, just beware of the grassy bench seating because I've definitely run into a few sticky spots there.

Self-depreciation joke aside, let get straight into this review. My wife and I were looking for a place for lunch and wanted something on the lighter side. Ive been meaning to try this place out and was very glad that I did. This place actually makes eating healthy fun and is very delicious. Life is about balance and I certainly cant always have fries and cheeseburgers. I mean, I could but I'd pay the price. I didnt feel like I was making any big sacrifices with the steak sandwich. It wasn't heavy like a cheesesteak would be and I was satiated. What I didnt expect, however, was enjoying the salad more than the steak and bacon sandwich. Excuse my english but Holy Shitballs, this was a very tasty salad and everything tasted so fresh. Salads are supposed to taste fresh so, you can tell I dont eat salads very much by the way I am describing it but man, I could eat this salad multiple times a week! I am trying to make healthier decisions, it's not easy but every little bit counts.

High class prices and foods.....low class customer service!…read moreI drove 50 miles roundtrip from Oakland to their store in Danville on Saturday afternoon to purchase premium sandwiches for a party we were having. At 3PM I attempted to order 6 sandwiches from the deli department....the guy working there said he was out of rolls! What? Out of rolls at only 3PM? How can ANY huge supermarket run out of rolls? So, I went over to their bread department and found some rolls. He then told me he can not use rolls from their own bread dept to make sandwiches. I made it clear to him I was willing to pay extra for the rolls but he said he couldn't do it. So I went and got the store manager on duty, a nice fellow named John. John was very apologetic about having run out of rolls and he also agreed that his staff should have made my sandwiches with bread from the bread department, given they prematurely ran out of rolls. He went over and spoke to the woman behind the deli counter. She told the Manager that they never said they wouldn't make the sandwiches from alternative bread, it was just that I did not say I would be paying extra for that bread! That was not the truth. When I said to her directly you are not speaking truth to your manager and I said do not put words into my mouth, she insisted I never told the guy back there I'd pay extra for the bread! Who needs such confrontations and frustrations over sandwiches after driving 25 miles each way to buy some? I walked out. We will never be shopping at Lunardi's market again. They sure know how to apply excessive high prices to their goods while at the same time not providing any exceptional customer service! That store has some major issues with their staff and attitude problems. This is the fault of upper management not instructing their underlings what a "premium store experience" should feel like. I certainly could have gotten a more customer friendly, positive experiences from any local Dollar Store, compared to the circus I received at Lunardi's Saturday!
