Pros - Nice staff - Clean Cons - VERY expensive - Sandwiches were average Two small bags of chips, one sparking Bubbly water, one orange juice type drink, pastrami/ham sandwich (no add ons) and a veggie sandwich (bread, cheese, pickles, pesto and cucumber). $41! $41 dollars for 2 sandwiches, 2 bags of chips and 2 drinks is way too expensive. read more

We stopped here for lunch on the way home. The sandwich was good, but I felt uneasy seeing the employee who made it not wearing gloves. Thankfully, I didn't get sick. Even though it was a rainy afternoon, there were still a handful of people dining in the deli and a line of customers ordering sandwiches. We tried the Ariana and Mona Lisa sandwiches, and both were quite tasty. The pasta salad was also delicious. If I may make a request, please wear gloves at all times when handling food. read more

I love this place!! They have such fresh produce and the most delicious meats. I love their rosemary focaccia bread ... yum so soft and fresh. They carry all kinds of pickled veggies you can buy as well read more

Brass Bear Delicatessen - Delis Near Me - Alamo, California

There was quite the line at lunchtime and definitely seemed popular. Personally, I just liked it ok, but it seems to be a cold cuts sandwich shop and I was going in as a vegetarian. Only one option for that and I found the bread too thick and the toppings basic. Located in a shopping plaza with easy parking. read more

If you want only the best sandwich ingredients , look no further . Pricing may be amiss for some , but the flavors and the care in which they are made is unmatched , we had Grilled Rueben on sour roll grilled and a pesto turkey panini . All were well worth every penny read more

I have resided in Danville for 13 years. I used to come to this deli since my daughter was very little. The service was always great. I'm unsure if it's under different ownership. My daughter who is now 16 drove all the way there on her lunch to get a sandwich. We haven't been there in years. She came inside to not only not be greeted but to be completely ignored. She stood as 2 people were helped and once it was her turn the ladies talked, gossiped and never said one word to her or took her order. They didn't even acknowledge her. My daughter called confused and upset. So I called the store to see if maybe I could order over the phone, no one answered . I tried a few times. My daughter finally left in tears. We will not be returning and I will no longer recommend this deli. read more

The best sandwich in town! I have been coming here my whole life. Great staff, easy, amazing quality food. Classic deli vibes

I love brass bear they are the best. Best sandwich I have ever had. Cute bear themed store as well.

Sandwiches are fantastic and the staff is very nice. I go every time I go to Walnut Creek!

A solid deli with all the usuals plus a bunch of excellent desserts that taste homemade. Indoor and outdoor seating. Definitely going back!

Absolutely disgusting and completely unsanitary. I placed my order and was waiting when I noticed the guy making our sandwiches wasn't wearing gloves. Then I saw him wipe his nose with his hand and go right back to preparing sandwiches -- including ours -- with those same bare hands. No gloves, no hand washing, nothing. There were four staff members working behind the counter, and only one of them was wearing gloves. The rest were all touching food, the register, equipment, and who knows what else -- with bare hands. It was nonstop cross-contamination. I wasn't about to eat that. I just walked out. They should know better -- this is basic food safety and completely unacceptable. I won't ever come back, and I hope they get a full inspection before someone gets seriously sick. read more

My coworker and I came in on Tuesday for sandwiches as we were hit with a power outage and had no cell service hoping we could try to get a cold lunch somewhere. We stoped by this small, familt owned restaurant hoping to get some food! I love how efficient they were to accommodate us while their business had no power! It was cash only, and whatever cold ingredients they had but they moved the line along and got out sandwiches for our group in under 15 mins. They handled the situation so well! read more

We didn't have the time to spare to wait in a long line at our usual spot, so I looked on Yelp and found Brass Bear. We came in at lunch time on a weekday, and there were a few people waiting in line. The shop was clean and organized with a big selection of wine. The service wasn't warm and fuzzy, but they were quick and professional. I got The Ariana, my husband got a roast beef sandwich, and we got a Turkey sandwich for a friend. It was all very fresh, and I enjoyed how soft and fresh the bread was-- however, that's what made up most of my sandwich.... Bread. A whole lot of bread. Not a bad sandwich, but not a great one. read more

Brass Bear is the best!! I used to work near the Walnut Creek location when it was open and loved to grab lunch there whenever I could. Now, this location is close enough to order on Doordash and let me tell you, it is so worth it! The sandwiches and salads are always delicious. Even when I create a custom sandwich, it is always made perfectly! If you are in the area and looking for a fantastic sandwich, Brass Bear is definitely the place to go! read more

Seemed like the perfect hole in the wall local deli right off the bike trail. Service is a bit slow for being fully staffed on a slow day. Sandwich was solid enough for me to come back another time- but I wouldnt recommend anyone to go out of their way read more

On more than several occasions I have showcased their sandwiches on my personal facebook account. Because they are so incredibly good. These sandwiches are world class. One of the best in the west delis. That razor thin cut lettuce, tomato and onion, pickles and whatever else you want, with piles of meats on bakery bread and rolls. Their cheeses are magnificent. So are the people. The owner is a truly great man. I've had the distinct pleasure of knowing this family over many years and it's always a great pleasure to interact with them. Truly deserving of 5 star praise. AAA class deli, all the way. read more

i would lean more towards 3.5hrs than 4. I was craving an Italian sandwich and Brass Bear came up on my recommended list. The delicatessen was a cute little shop with a drinks and a few market items. I was the first one in the shop so the wait time was zero, but a line of about five deep queued and i could see waiting maybe 5 to 10 mins for a sandwich. The gentleman that took my order set to work making my food, but he didn't give me or ask me for any choices. After he was making the sandwich, i saw a paper menu on the cold bar that listed bread options, veggies, meats etc. This was my first time here so many an Italian is made exactly the way he did it without any options? Overall the bread was...eh while the rest of the sandwich was decently good. Not sure what it was, but it just felt like it was missing something. I might go back and try a sandwich on the Dutch crunch bread to see if i like it any better. Either way, in a pinch and if you're craving a sandwich, Brass Bear might check off the boxes. read more

Best sandwiches anywhere. Bread is really fresh, specially sourdough. People are friendly in the meat is great too. All fresh.

The absolute best quality sandwiches! I have enjoyed Brass Bear for several years and the sandwiches always consistently delicious! They offer huge deli sandwiches with so much goodness packed into a sandwich. From the fresh bread, to the quality meat and everything in between, this is a great spot. I enjoy getting the sandwiches & sides to go. The staff is friendly and it's always consistently my go-to sandwich spot in the area. read more

Working in Alamo, there isn't many lunch places to pick from but this sandwich shop is one of my favorites. It is a bit pricey but everything is these days (I got a deli Turkey sandwich for $15). I love that they have a huge selection of chips here and they also have Kombucha which is one of my favorite drinks, they also have one of my favorite brands (Kevita). The one downside I will say is that during lunch rush, it gets really packed and it's a skinny long deli so if you can order online before hand I definitely would. I also highly recommend the sourdough roll, it was so soft and delicious! read more

I have been here a few times, it a decent deli. The service is a little slow but the sandwich stuff and salads are always fresh. Sandwich are $11.95, which is a little more that Domenico's $11, a great deli in Danville. They used to be much cheaper, so it's was worth the trip but now I'm not sure why I would go. I think that need to figure out away to differentiate them self. My go to is Mortadella on sourdough roll, everything, add pepperoncini with pesto aioli. I wish they had red wine vinegar because the italian dressing is too sweet, it has balsamic. An Italian sandwich vinaigrette should have red wine vinegar. The pesto aioli is good, but wish they had a garlic sauce (garlic, parsley, salt pepper, olive oil) like they do at Little Luca's, a South City institution. The sourdough roll is smaller than Domenico's, but both are soft with a nice easy to eat crust. The lettuce is shredded, which is a nice touch. Red Potatoe Salad: $3.85, 4 Stars. Homemade with sweet relish, celery, parsley, mustard and mayo. Good stuff! Anti pasto Salad: 4 stars read more

Just sampled their Ariana sandwich (turkey on focaccia, avocado, lettuce, havarti, aioli) and it was fantastic! The bread was so fresh and delicious I really enjoyed every bite. Beware though, this bread option is sizable and the sandwich was so big I could only eat half before feeling very full. This was a part of a delivery order and everything arrived as promised. Look forward to visiting someday. read more

I've eaten at this Deli twice. The sandwiches are basic at best and there's always barely any meat given. Today we ordered a simple turkey and roast beef sandwich. The lady behind the counter couldn't understand the order and basically snapped at my wife! Her attitude and tone was so bad that the owner came out to finish the transaction but even he was just as dismissive as they spoke to each other in their native language. Also, there was a lack of hand washing and/or glove use transitioning between handling the food and money. Customer service, and cleanliness is not their strong suit. read more
