I have come here periodically since Roger and Pete the duck (RIP) opened Bunches over 30 years ago. It was always a special place, that lovely breezeway between the old railroad tracks (now a parking lot) and N Santa Cruz. Today was no exception. I've been coming to the place for over 20 years. Sadly, Pete the duck had crossed over the rainbow bridge and is no longer the main attraction whenever I visit. I typically order flowers from Bunches when I want to make sure that a bouquet is special both in terms of flower quality and arrangement. I realize that blooms are in shorter supply in January, but I was disappointed by a recent arrangement I ordered for my mom's birthday. I went to the website and picked out the style and color scheme of bouquet that I wanted (fully realizing I wasn't going to get exactly that) and spoke on the phone with someone who confirmed that they could replace what they didn't have available with bloom of a similar hue. The actual arrangement contained a smaller, darker flower that was not even close to the deep purple color and open shape that was key to the design of the whole bouquet. Really disappointed that this special occasion bouquet had none of the wow factor I'd anticipated. read more

Bunches has been our family's favorite florist growing up in the South Bay, and I was so relieved that they've been able to stay open during COVID-19! I went in today and they were luckily able to expand to the shop next door, which allows for a much more open space so that customers can feel safe when picking out their flowers! Now expanded due to Covid/Social distancing. So much more pleasant to walk around! Assisted by the very lighthearted & talented Aya. She steered me towards a vase that I would never select on my own. Then David the floral designer put together the arrangement!! In less than 5 minutes I received a bucket load of attention on my Business Instagram page just from the photo of the completed arrangement! I'd like to point out that in the 8 plus years that I've lived in Los Gatos, I don't ever remember their pricing structure to be so palatable as I've witnessed today. Hi Nancy, I'm super disappointed in the flower arrangement I ordered for $80 plus $20 delivery. I discussed with your florist along with sunflowers I wanted light blue delphinium, apricot roses, and some white flowers...she mentioned Peonies and I said NO. So I got Purple delphinium and Red Peonies with 4 sunflowers. This will be the last time I order from you. What a RIP OFF!!! You have about $5 dollars worth of flowers in the arrangement, and frankly a poor floral designer. I get it, the peonies were opening so you had to UNLOAD them. I'm sad for my Mother's 84th birthday. I apologized to her, which isn't what Birthdays should be about. Update: Nancy apologized, and offered to trade in for a new arrangement. I wanted to buy my sick friend some flowers so I was shopping in downtown Los Gatos and happened upon Bunches. I walked in and was looking around for a good 10 minutes and nobody greeted me or asked if they could help me. There were no other customers. I saw 2 employees that worked there. I spoke up and tried to get help from one of them and they acted as if I were annoying them. Every time I mentioned I wanted a certain flower for my arrangement they said that they didn't have it and didn't know when they were going to have it again (roses, daisies, etc.). I was not asking for anything unusual. I felt like they were judging me and they decided that they weren't interested in doing business with me so I just left. I DO NOT RECOMMEND! read more

As an adult, now with a child of my own, my mom, son and I (three generations) would frequent Bunches together. Upon entering you'll notice pretty flowers outside for sale. Inside the shop you'll notice so many lovely 'bunches' of flowers, gorgeous French ribbons behind the counter in many different colors (on the right hand side of the flower shop). They also sell lovely vases- clear, milk glass white, green milk glass, vintage hobnail- so many wonderful selections. Pete the duck was a fixture in my memory when I was young and she's still here in the back of Bunches. Customer service has always been helpful and friendly. Prices for the flowers, vases, French ribbons and greeting cards are good price points. Flowers are locally sourced. The last time I was here (previous to today's visit) was March 2015 with my mom and son. It was our last visit for the three of us (my mom passed away from a rare form of cancer in November 2015). My husband, my toddler, our family friends visiting from Oahu (Daniel and his wife Minky) came here today to pick up flowers for my mom. It was a cool and overcast morning. The selection of flowers were gorgeous as usual. We chatted with the owner and the other floral designer in the shop. Bunches will always hold a special place in my heart. A place where I would buy the most beautiful flowers with my mom and even though she is gone, the tradition continues... My friend and I could not resist in taking million pics because the place is so cute, with so much assortment of flowers, especially we noticed the differences in sunflower varieties. The bouquets and arrangements are so beautiful and I noticed the florist that day uses a lot of oranges and fuchsias in her designs, which are my favorites, so definitively this flower shop is bookmarked! WHAAAATT?? I can't believe I've never written a review for Bunches. Really folks ... I'm floored. This is hands down the BEST florist in area. When you think Los Gatos you tend to think "snooty", posh, over priced, fancy .... basically out of reach for the average person without a trust fund. But Bunches is none of those trust me. This place reminds me of an open air market kinda place. It's small, narrow, often cold, very simple displays and totally unpretentious. The staff are patient, creative, friendly and very helpful. The assortment of flowers, fillers and greenery always fresh and interesting. If you have no idea which flowers to choose, they are always willing to help you pick out just the right ones and will even create your bouquet complete with coordinating bow. And if you're not feeling creative or are in a hurry and just need to grab a pre-made arrangement and run, they have plenty of those too. But the very best part about Bunches beside their beautiful flowers is their prices. Holly flying fig newtons batman ... these folks have incredibly low prices for the quality of arrangements they sell. Although Bunches feels like a simple open air flower shop, they also do incredible arrangements for weddings, parties, celebrations, proms ... you name it. On any given Saturday you can walk in and see orders ready for delivery that are just spectacular. The only issue I have with these folks is that their Campbell location didn't last. I was SO excited when I say that they opened a storefront in Campbell a few years back that I literally jumped for joy. But before I knew it, the doors were close and a new vendor moved in. Sad day for lazy ol me who liked the 2 minute drive. Oh well, at least this shop isn't far. So if you have a special occasion or just want some flowers to brighten your home or office, Bunches is most certainly the very best you can choose. read more

I went through Bunches before and saw the most adorable duck and my friend took a picture of me pointing at him. A very small shop, but very good arrangements. Beautiful, actually. I picked up a bunch of hydrangeas for Mother's Day. The lady wrapped them up as a gift (no charge) with a ribbon and gave me tips to store these flowers as I would be a little less than an hour away from the destination. The couple owns this shop-- they are very friendly. I thought the bunch I got was going to be expensive, but it came out to be 16ish dollars. Not bad and very unique. Something different, as my Mom would say. I plan on coming back. Because who can go wrong with flowers as a gift or accompaniment to a gift? It's fat free, gorgeous, and thoughtful! Stopped by to grab some bday flowers for a co-worker, and totally fell in love with the therapeutic environment and loads of beautiful plants and flowers! The selections are in bunches...or separated buckets. Their pricing is very clear and appropriate. You can create your own bouquet and know what you're paying for right there on the spot! I'm sure they also do personalized bouquets if you want something custom made. When I paid for my hand-picked bunch, the sweet lady at the counter went above and beyond to wrap up my bouquet with beautiful paper. AND she stuck a lone flower on my bouquet just for the heck of it! It's the little things like this that make me love flower people. Worst employees. I walked into Bunches looking for flowers when the blonde White female sales associate was impatiently and irritably talking to an elderly lady who had asked about a wreath. When the elderly lady left the building, the blonde woman started snickering with her coworkers in the back. The coworkers I saw from where I was was a Black woman with her hair tied back and glasses and a man. "OK, I told the customer that we would hold this wreath in the back for her... Old lady said she needed to go home and measure... she said her budget is $500.... so fucking charge her $500! Flowers are so cheap hahaha!" Not leaving yet, I did not get help from anyone. When I asked if these are all the flowers that they have, the blonde woman said "yeah, so..." and I asked which are in season. She raised her voice and said "sunflowers, dahlias. What are you looking for exactly?!" I told her "I don't know just looking I guess." She stared me down waiting for me to leave. I walked out. To sum it up these employees were rude and couldn't wait to talk smack about people behind their backs and take their money. They are not there because they are passionate about selling flowers. Pete the Duck greeted me. This place is busy making specialty arrangements for events; they are not the Verizon store (thank god) that screams "hello" as you walk in; that's what the duck is for (who says there's no customer service here?!?). David, a creative, quiet-but-friendly guy, arranged a unique mini bouquet using Fire Tulips that I've never seen anywhere else until yesterday, and we mixed them with some fluffy, green goodness. I left with a gift I was excited to give. It never makes sense to me how some yelpers will make note of a positive experience and only give 4 stars. That's bullshit people! Also, love how some people act like their own attitudes don't have anything to do with how they are treated. You get back what you put out there. This place is 5 stars and has been forever; doesn't take much to notice that with their out-of-the-ordinary selections & kind staff. WHO would bring in farmers market flowers and request a bouquet made even if using some of Bunches flowers?!? I know... someone really tacky with no concept of manners!!! Then give a 1 star review!?! I am extremely disappointed with my Mother's Day bouquet I ordered to be delivered to my mom. Previously ordered from bunches last year and asked for peonies ($60 arrangement). They were unsure whether or not I would receive peonies but I did in fact receive them. I called this year and again asked for peonies. They almost guaranteed I would receive them as the man said that they were getting a shipment in that week. I said great, I want to spend 60 dollars like last year. The man proceeded to say that peonies were in fact very expensive and that the price was a little low. I said that I would increase to 80 dollars and he said that would be fine. Flash forward to Mother's Day, I did not in fact receive any peonies after the man encouraged me to up my price for flowers I did not even receive. Furthermore, I had requested that I receive hydrangeas and greenery for a white arrangement instead if they did not have peonies. My mom received about two hydrangeas and the majority of purple flowers and roses that are horridly ugly. I never mentioned color especially purple as my mom hates purple. I'm disgusted in the lack of customer service considering I paid 100+ dollars in total. Completely used whatever flowers they had on hand for this arrangement and told me to pay more for flowers I didn't even get. The card in which they wrote the message I asked for looked like a first grader wrote it. It's utterly embarrassing they even included it. There was scratches as if a word was spelled wrong and it was extremely haphazard and unprofessional. Also they were very bitter on the phone when I placed the order. Acted as though they were put out when I'm simply supporting your business. Take your money elsewhere if you want your florist to act as though they would like to receive business and put the effort into creating something meaningful. read more
