And the first thing I was shown when asking about something for dry skin was $140. I was like ummm yeah thanks. I did not come for that. Right after they charged me, the order was canceled with the excuse that I had requested the cancellation, which is absolutely false. I never canceled anything. Since then, my money has been in dispute because: The company does not respond to emails. They only send automated messages saying someone will get in touch with me, but no one ever does. Meanwhile, MELIO claims that they already sent the money to the seller and is now asking me to either pay again or provide my card number so they can try to charge me again. Absolutely not! This is robbery. I should not have to lose my money like this. And who is going to compensate me for the damage? This situation is unacceptable. With many friends recommending the service at bumble&bumble and long time customer of B&B products, I was excited to take part in their apprenticeship program as one of their hair models. Although the service is free, I'm still required to tip and thought that the staff would maintain their professionalism throughout this hair session. I made the appointment by contacting the apprentice directly, who confirmed it as soon as I texted. He did text a day before the session to ask if I could come in at noon instead but I was unavailable and he said it was fine. My appointment was for 2:30PM, taking time off work I arrived at 2:15PM to sign in at the receptionist. The receptionist didn't bother to check who I had made the appointment with and told me to wait in the back. After 45 minutes of waiting, I headed up to the receptionist again and was greeted by a different person. I told her that I had been waiting a while for my hair appointment with an apprentice but no one has come to get me. I told her the name of the apprentice and she looked horrified. She immediately apologized and told me the apprentice had gone home early at noon because he was "sick". She asked me a few times whether the previous receptionist had informed me of this. I said no. I was left with no apprentice and no cut. The receptionist tried to find another apprentice who would be able to slot me in, but after ten more minutes of waiting, she told me no one was available for another hour or two. As I took some time out of my work day, I didn't have more time to just wait around hoping for another person to free up. I wanted to express how I'm very disappointed by my experience even though I never made it to the service part of it. I know the appointment I made was ultimately a free service, but I think it's fair to still expect the same level of professionalism you would display to a regular customer. And if this is how the staff treat the regular customers, I'm surprised they have any business at all. I'll probably never consider bumble&bumble for any hair services, and the experience has left such a sour taste in my mouth that I'm reconsidering purchasing any of their products in the future. This is a review for color and color correction. I created an account on salonapprentice.com to be a haircut, color and blowdry model and love getting asked by students and junior stylists to sit for them. Samal from Bumble & Bumble wrote me and asked me to sit for her for a color deposit and gloss which would last 8 weeks. She showed me a picture of Marcia Cross from Desperate Housewives, who has glossy copper hair. My own is strawberry blonde so I was looking to kick it up a bit and accepted Samal's offer. The salon is stylish,has great natural light, and the staff is very attentive. Samal did an excellent job explaining the process to me and coloring and conditioning my hair. When she finished it seemed a bit dark for me, but I thought it would lighten up with a few washes. After a few days, however I knew I couldn't live two months with it. I am looking for work and need to have job interviewers take me seriously so I called the salon and arranged to meet with Michelle, the color director. She called me within two days, listened to my worries and came up with a solution. She asked me to return to the salon and bring a few photos of what my color looked like before. Once I appeared she took only a moment or two and knew exactly what to do. She used a special shampoo and non-damaging color stripper that lifted the darkest red out of my hair. My hair now looks almost exactly as it did before and I couldn't be happier with Bumble & Bumble's service. They understood my problem and solved it. Let me tell you about my stylist Rocco. Rocco has recently graduated from the 3 year program at Bumble & Bumble and now teaches at the University for hair design. He embodies the Universities guarantee; he's passionate, creative, and highly skilled. I have had some of the most unbelievably good stylists in the city who would never listen to what I wanted or even entertain the idea of an open dialogue about what cut would suit me and the look I was going for. Rocco is a collaborator. I always feel heard whenever I get cut by him and come out with a developed idea of what I wanted and how to communicate that idea better. Despite all the conveniences New York has to offer, there always are certain things that always seem hard to find - a good hairstylist is one of them! Integrity, style, trust, skill, and craftsmanship should embody every hairstylist, right? Why does that seem so hard to find here in the city? Hairstyling is an artform, I think. You need to find someone who has all the previously mentioned attributes as well as a passion for what he does. My hairstylist, Rocco, has all those attributes. I'm damn proud he does, too! Rocco is a kind, skilled artist. With just a few moments of inquisition, he gets to work and always has a vision, which he accurately articulates. I'm probably a risky client; I always want a new, hip style within certain parameters. So i arrived at bumble with a broken leg so i had a huge cast on . From the moment i touched the door, the security guard opened the door and gave me a smile that ill never forget . So welcoming. I thought i would have trouble getting around the salon since i had a cut and a single process so i asked the security guard if he could help me get to the elevator etc... He then asked me if he had permission to pick me up... First thing i thought was wow at least take me to diner first lol. But i agreed and he carried me around the whole time i was there.. if that isnt great service then i don't know what is. He even denied a tip saying he was just doing his job... Going to Blake, you get more than a haircut, you get an experience. I have been getting haircuts from Blake for about a year and a half now and each one is better than the last. Every time I leave salon feeling like that was certainly the best hair cut I have ever received. Additionally, Blake is very fun to talk to and makes the hair cut so enjoyable! Highly recommend seeing Blake for a cut, whether you want a complete makeover or just something slightly different from what you currently have!! Everybody at Bumble makes you feel welcome and at home, it is always a pleasant environment to be in. As for the haircut, you obviously aren't just getting a generic cut, especially with Blake. I saw Beth for haircut and Michelle for color. I can't remember when I've been treated so well and gotten such great results from a salon. The vibe in the salon is cool and everyone is so friendly. I am usually nervous when going to a new place but Beth immediately put me at my ease and gave me a fabulous cut. My appointment for color was a few days later but Michelle took a few minutes out of her jam packed day to give me an initial consultation so we were ready to roll when my appointment started. I don't usually write reviews so this means I was seriously impressed. I went to Bumble and Bumble for the 1st time a couple of weeks ago and saw a stylist by the name of Anilssa. OMG. I HAVE NEVER GOTTEN SO MANY COMPLIMENTS ABOUT MY HAIR IN MY LIFE!! She just listened so well and and recapped everything she was going to do before I even went to get my hair washed. I felt so comfortable the whole time (even though i was chopping my hair off!!!). I will definetely recommend her to all of my friends & coworkers. I am in the fashion industry and own a high profile accessories company so my personal brand and appearance is very important. After my last colorist at a different salon moved to Texas I searched for a while to find another good one- then I met Zoe at Bumble & Bumble! I let Zoe do what ever she wants- lighter darker, foil, paint...I trust her judgement and she NEVER fails! I'd give zero stars if I could for the horrific racist treatment i received from the front of house manage Jenna Cormey. She is shorter with light blonde hair and treated me with absolute disrespect. Not sure if she has anger issues but quickly boiled when two people had questions for her, told me off as I waited to make an appointment, insulted everyone in the lobby and made lewd and racist comments about my hair texture and appearance. I went to this particular stylist based on these reviews and was not impressed at all!!! IT'S JUST MOB MENTALITY. I know this because i've worked at a spa as an esthetician and it's the oldest trick in the book. Do yourselves a favor and try out Bumble's other amazing stylists who don't have to resort to writing reviews about themselves to make up for lack of talent!!!! Alison is amazing!! I've gone to her for my last several cuts and am always SO happy with my hair- not just when I leave with the gorgeous blowout she finishes the cut with, but even when I style it myself. I've had small trims and more significant cuts with Alison and she always listens to exactly what I'm looking for. She also makes great suggestions about things we can try that show she listens to what I like and how I normally do my hair. I've been using the same bumble and bumble product in my hair for about 15 years. I'm a guy and honestly can't justify spending over $50 on my haircut as i get it cut every 3 weeks or so. I've been going to this salon to buy the stuff I use for a few years now and the salon staff behind the counter who ring me up have just gotten ruder and ruder every time i come in. I've been a client at bumble and bumble for years and have found two great stylists Lisa and Moran(for cut and color). Just recently I called to book with them and was shocked to here they were no longer with the company. However, I did some research and am SO happy I have found them at a new, gorgeous salon called Mizu. The experience I had at Mizu was AMAZING! KAT started cutting my hair 3 years ago at Bumble and I have been seeing her ever since. I have very thin hair but she was able to create layers and amazing side swept bangs that add so much volume. The cut is so great that my hair looks good when I style it my self, which I used to have trouble doing. She's also GREAT with men's haircuts. I coaxed my fiancee into seeing Kat for a professional cut and she totally transformed his look. He barely has to use any product because the cut is so great on its own. First of all, I know everybody affiliated with this Salon is excellent so I'm going to just tell you about the two typist I had today and again they are all absolutely amazing and so talented. Nicole did my coloring and she knew exactly what I needed done before I even explained in my consultation with her and she did exactly as she promised and I think she thinks even better ha ha! I came in with oxidized gold RG hair and walked out with the most delightful, neutral, beige, exactly what I wanted and it's still at the shiny gold highlights without having it highlighted, in the sun, and even in the dressing room, I noticed it under the lights so it still had that sprinkle of golden blonde as if I was at the beach, but it was beige and just nice and subdued, which is exactly what I wanted. I upgraded to the color choice that contained a whole lot of oils so that your hair will not dry. I'm so happy I did it and it's so worth it and the toner also was at the same company. I'm not sure if it's appropriate for me to post it but you could always call The salon and ask for the name of it if it's something you're interested in having done. Thomas and Ross are still there. I had so many years ago for 20 years! I'm telling you they are all amazing and you will never be disappointed! I was so happy to see Tom but Ross wasn't in today or at least not when I was there. Just wanted to say hello. I then had a haircut by Cameron and I gave him 100% weight to cut it anyway he wanted it as it was below my shoulder, dried out, frizzy, shedding, out of shape past five or six months due to an accident I had and therefore could not attend any Salon. I didn't want him to save any bad hair just to cut it all off! He found a way to keep a little bit of length down to the bottom of my neck, which was ideal for me and he layered gently any hair that was higher than neck length to take off all the damaged hair. I thought it would take three visits months apart and yet he did it all in one visit by just gently layering and of course, cutting off several inches of the bad hair, which I knew I needed done immediately today! Both stylist did an amazing job and both had the most beautiful personalities. And of course, there's the Manager, Vassilio, and I apologize and I will correct the spelling as soon as I see her again! I looked up the directory for over a half hour so I did try to get it correct! Anyway, she is lovely on the telephone and so helpful and just beautiful in person, inside out! The whole entire experience was such such a joy and I had an accident about a year ago and looked forward to this day all year long. It was one of my happiest days in a long time so thank you John Barrett Salon, and those I mentioned and the lovely people I met in passing and the people I knew from a few years back. It's a fairly long review, but I hope it could help some people make a decision and it shouldn't be difficult to know that a salon that was at Bergdorf Goodman all these years, has to be at top Salon! This was an absolutely traumatizing experience. I went to the Murray Hill location to get my roots…read moredone and tone my hair, which was a mix of strawberry blonde and old highlights. I showed the stylist a reference photo and explained that I wanted a copper tone, not too dark, just something to even everything out. When she finished, my hair was nearly black. I was shocked. I immediately said this wasn't what I asked for, and instead of acknowledging the mistake or offering a helpful solution, the stylist insisted that I had asked her to match my roots. I hadn't. She got defensive, combative, and started yelling at me. The receptionist stepped in and was more empathetic. She agreed something had gone wrong and offered to send me to their uptown location to fix it. I asked very clearly if I would be charged, and she said no. I even asked again before leaving, and she repeated that I wouldn't be charged by either location. I paid out of pocket to Uber uptown. The stylist there, Gary, did fix the color, but made sure I knew how busy he was and treated me like I was lucky he was making time. He gave me a condescending lecture about showing reference photos, and when I told him I had, and that I had been very clear, he brushed it off. I've been getting my hair done for years. I understand the process. I know how to communicate what I want, and I always come prepared with photos. That wasn't the issue. At one point, when another client joked that her scalp was burning, I tried to lighten the mood by laughing. He turned to me and said, "You're laughing now, you're going to have it a lot worse." He was right. My scalp started burning so badly I cried. It was a long and emotionally draining process. The color looked better by the end, but I now have a scab on my scalp, most likely from the chemical treatment. And then, despite being told repeatedly that I wouldn't be charged, Gary tried to make me pay more than the original salon visit would have cost. When I told him that the receptionist at the first location had specifically told me it would be free of charge, he said, "She made a huge mistake if she told you that." He then went on to argue with me, saying even his family pays, and made me feel like I was being difficult for not wanting to pay after everything I had been put through. After going back and forth, he agreed to charge me $150, which I paid, even though it felt completely unfair. I called the receptionist at the first salon afterward to tell her I had been charged. She denied ever saying I wouldn't be, which felt like the final blow. After all of that, I felt completely gaslit and taken advantage of. I left with a damaged scalp, out time and money, and genuinely shaken. I've never written a review like this before, but I think people deserve to know what kind of experience I had. I would never go back.
