We purchased several hundred clearance bath bombs which appeared to be a great deal at the time. Upon arrival, the bath bombs did not match the photos in the slightest, used different ingredients than any of their other bath bombs, were clumpy and mis-shaped, and were extremely powdery, despite the fact they were wrapped in cellophane. We requested a refund/return and were told due to the items being clearance, a return could not be accepted. The product page for the item does not state anything about no returns, and we were told they only place on the website where it states that clearance is non-returnable is in the fine print on the return policy page. Our order was also missing items, and many incorrect items were shipped in their place. We also ordered "Natural Potpourri" but the actual product received was artificially colored. This will be our last order from Bulk Apothecary, despite many years of doing business with them. Many of their bath bombs can be purchased from companies like Made Natural for a fraction of the price, with the same names, colors, and ingredients, and with free shipping. I am now our hundreds of dollars and have product that cannot be sold because the quality is so poor it would tarnish my brand. If Bulk Apothecary would have owned up to their misleading website information and accepted a return, all of this would have been avoided. read more

This company has shady shipping practices. I ordered some bulk soap when the package arrived there was an additional $15 shipping charge added on to the already $11 shipping charge that I already paid. The package was refused and sent back to the company. The refunded amount was less than the price of the item. The customer service is no help at all. Be careful using this company!! read more

And expected the items to ship within 7 days as I was notified. 2 weeks  pass and I contact them now told item in stock but orders will ship 10 - 15 Days later. How long does it really take to put in stock items in a box and ship them out. First off, it was nice to get a automated thank you email on Sunday 3/22. I am grateful that they are an essential business and I like that I am supporting a family business. I ordered hand sanitizer spray on Saturday 3/21 and It had said 10 days processing on the website during the time. It's been over 10 days and still no update. I selected empty spray bottles on amazon according to their delivery date and these actually arrived but no hand sanitizer liquid to put inside yet. I came across there Facebook page and saw a posting saying they usually get 2K of orders per day. Now they get 25000 in 1 day and they weren't prepared for it. Also, the processing time is roughly 2-3 weeks currently. They mention that they don't know how many staff will show up until the day off. It would be helpful to the customer to know what number they are out of the 25000 as it would give a sense of wait time and/or wait to accept more paid orders until those are taken care of. I will update my order ever gets processed and I end up getting the product. This company was referred from a neighbor that recently bought the gel kind and successfully got the order. read more

I was I recreated in an essential oil that was out of stock. I clicked the option to let me know when it was back in stock. 2 days later I received an email that it was back in stock. I immediately ordered it and added a diffuser since shipping was already pretty high. A few days later I received only the diffuser and no oil. Mo one called Or emailed or offered to let me know that the oils was out of stock again within 2 or 3 days. I have since sent multiple emails and called with no response. Horrible customer service. I made an order on Feb 05 and immediately got an order confirmation. 7 days later after nothing, i emailed and asked when i was going to receive it. I got a message quickly saying that the product was out of stock and i would be contacted with ETA. Another week rolls by and no contact, so I Email. Nothing. I email again. Nothing. I call and leave a voicemail, twice. Nothing. I email again. Nothing. I finally message them through their inter-website messaging system - NOTHING... I too feel bad for this company getting slammed. I ordered a gallon of hand sanitizer on March 20 and it arrived April 29. While it was longer than expected, the product was delivered and is good quality. People need to understand the company's priority is getting product out the door first during the pandemic and as such, your phone call or email is likely secondary. From their website realizing resellers were hoarding needed product: "our solution is to no longer offer hand sanitizer wholesale to resellers that we don't know and trust. Instead, we will sell our hand sanitizer for MSRP direct to end users moving forward at a fair price. It doesn't matter if you buy 1 gallon or 1,000 gallons, the price is the same. Purchased 4 cases of 1000 gloves from bulk apothecary trying them out as a glove supplier and the gloves were so odd not stretchy at all and not able to use for my business. I emailed asking for return explaining the gloves did not fit what I needed and they said they weren't taking back gloves, unopened unused. Makes no sense. I never write review but i'm sorry i've had enough with this company. they make a lot of shipping mistakes and send wrong things to the wrong people with all you're information in the boxes then make you jump through hoops before they fix the mistake. so if you're on a deadline for you're business and they send you the wrong thing they will not move a muscle to try and fix it till after you have done what they need. most companies I deal with once they realize their mistake they swiftly just resend out the correct thing as your dealing with whatever it is they need in order to make up for their mistake smh i've never had such bad customer service . read more

Terrible customer service! Ordered a product and when I received it, it was rancid. The smell was extremely strong. I called to request a refund and was emailed a return shipping label. I returned the item unused. The foil top was partially pulled back, which is when I discovered the butter was rancid, however the butter inside was untouched because of the disgusting smell. My refund was short $3, I assumed they were being shady trying to charge me for return shipping, which was unacceptable because they sent me a RANCID product. When I called customer service, I was told that my account was notated with the blatant lie that I'd "used 3 ounces" of the product and that's why my refund was short. Utter bullshit!! As bad as that butter smelled, I didn't even want to touch it let alone drill out 3 ounces. The rep claimed she couldn't override my shorted refund because of what the "notes" said but she offered me a coupon code for a future purchase. F@ck that, why would I ever shop again at a company that falsely accused me of being a thief. Tuh!! Never again. I have been working with Bulk Apothecary for several years without any mishaps in both communication, product quality, or speed of shipment. However, they have turned their back on their primary business in favor of short term profit during COVID. The company no longer sells lip balm flavors to small skin care manufacturers. You either need to order a 50 gallon tote or don't order at all which is disheartening because their flavor oils are simply some of the best on the market. Many of their other raw ingredients are no longer available as well. So just patiently waiting and hoping they either inform us of their intent to get out of the skin care raw ingredient market or that they intend to restock products. read more

I've been ordering from this shop for about 5 years for my DIY projects. I've mainly purchased some of their essential oils and carrier oils. For a long time they were my go-to shop since their prices were the best when factoring in shipping. However, they no longer have that title. When COVID hit they were out of many supplies- this is completely understandable and not the reason for the 3 stars- but since I was forced to find alternative shops, I've since found better, both in selection and price. BA is a legit place to get your necessities, but there is better out there. I don't see myself returning to BA since I haven't found anything there that I can't find at one of my new go-tos. Pre-pandemic their shipping time was fine. My orders were always shipped within a week and arrived soon after (but I live in NJ, so it's not too far). Aside from finding better alternatives, my biggest issue is that their fragrance oils are not well described. Not all their fragrances have a vanilla content. This is a major omission because vanilla content can affect bar soap and ruin batches if the soap maker isn't making an informed decision when utilizing the fragrance. The only info (aside from generic paragraphs about how great the shop is) is maybe some suggested usage rates. MAYBE. The information is very inconsistent between products. I took a chance on a fragrance and it ended up ricing and ruining the batch. Again, better sites have information about vanilla content and any other pertinent information. Still, a lot of these COVID-related 1 stars seem a bit unfair. People are ordering very in-demand supplies from a seller who probably has never seen this level of demand. I'm not saying BA is perfect or that broken items are ok, but bulk ordering hand sanitizer during a pandemic and wondering why it doesn't arrive in a week is just silly. read more

I received some heavy synthetic oil that wasn't even close to jojoba oil. Bulk Apothecary play with their wordings even to the end. I had to call my bank and dispute the return shipping charge. Just received my order in perfect condition no leaks. Fast fed ex shipping on a $90. Order. All glass bottles were bubble wrapped and taped two bottles to a wrapping. The cinnamon bark is excellent Birch is like wintergreen lite I use it for pain in my shoulder. I've used Nature sunshine bergamot and will be trying this Birch and balsam fir. My boyfriend got me a gift certificate for Christmas 2017. I was in the middle of moving and didn't really know what I needed so I figured I could just hold off and order when the need arose. Then I lost the email with the gift certificate information. I emailed the company all the info and received the gift certificate code that same day. Christmas 2018 rolls around and I finally figure out what I want...but its out of stock. You cannot order out of stock items to ship when them become available. You need to put in an email address and they email you when stuff is back in stock. Half of what I wanted came back in January 2019 so I'm like....lets order it while I can. Turns out, their gift certificates are only valid for 1 year. Once again I email customer service. They responded within a couple of hours, turning my gift certificate balance into a store credit so that I can buy my bottles when they return to stock. Cons: Shipping seems a bit high. Every single thing I've tried to add to my cart has been out of stock (beard oil base, glass bottles, lids for bottles, lol), Gift certificates are valid for 1 year. Bulk Apothecary should: 1) Notify buyers of the huge shipping delays at time order is placed. Indicating shipping delays up to 10 days when it's already been over 2 weeks is not helpful. 2) Consider marking things "sold out" so shoppers are aware that they will be going through the height of the pandemic with no hand sanitizer. At least with that info they could be shopping elsewhere. These are the reasons for all the negative feedback you've been getting, and that is a legitimate criticism of your operation. There are alternatives to operating this way. Circumstances are frustrating enough for most Americans (and elsewhere) at this time. Why add to it? read more

I placed a small custom order and paid for a sample. They provided exactly what I asked for, however, I (my fault) ordered the wrong size... not once but twice. The company, without being difficult, ran new custom samples till I was 100% happy. I ended up with a perfect custom product at a reasonable price. So I ordered their 1 Gallon Hand Sanitizer on Mar 22nd and at that time they claimed they had stock and will ship in 10 days. Its been 27 days now and no response to my last 2 emails. Please avoid this site in the future. They are taking advantage of the panic set in due to Covid-19 and falsely claiming to have stock when in fact they dont. I paid $44.95 for their product plus $13.12 for shipping and the status of my order on their site is still "Awaiting Shipment". They have stopped taking phone calls and stopped responding to emails.
