Finding Bui's closed at 8:15am, we called the number on the truck and were told that they would be opening in fifteen minutes. After contemplating finding another place to grab breakfast, we decided to cruise around and wait it out. Boy am I glad we did!! We had the Hangover and the Mrs. Bui sandwich, both solid, Mrs. Bui exceptional. It was one of those experiences where my eyes widened and I found myself uttering a progressively louder "yum...YUM...!" with every bite. I think it says a lot that the best cheese steak sandwich I've had in Philly was at breakfast, from a food truck, made by a Vietnamese gentleman. And it only cost $5.50 a sandwich.

I skipped another session of gym today because of this. Went straight after work in early morning around 07:30. Parked my car couple feet from the place. Get off from the car. Walked fast toward the food truck. Saw the menu. Did a little happy dance in my mind. :D Number 5! THE Hangover Special. egg AND cheese AND bacon AND ham AND sausage AND salt AND pepper AND ketchup. Mixed them all up and put it on the soft warm roll. Total cost = $5.00 The service was very quick. About 2 mins. The lady that was working that morning was very friendly. She offered me if I wanted hot sauce on it. At first I said yeah.. and she asked me again to make sure. And I said yeah the second time. Couple second later I decided not to put the hot sauce haha.. I'm such a wimp. Anyway I asked her not to put the hot sauce no more. She smiled and said.. 'its too early in the morning eh?' .. I just smiled back and said yeah.. Well the truth is.. I wanted to get the actual taste.. without the spicy flavor on it. Next time I'm going there, which is pretty soon, I'll order one with the hot sauce on. Dude.. you need to believe this.. it taste awesome. Like I'd go to this place if I want breakfast sandwich than going to McD, Wawa or alike. I'm not sure if I want to try something else from the menu.. Don't get me wrong, they all sound good. But I'm already in loved with THE Hangover Special.

Pretty solid breakfast / lunch food truck. Lady serving was courteous and recommended I get the hangover. It was 11am and I was pretty sober but what the heck. She runs an efficient shop as I got the goods in less than 2 mins. Couldn't even fumble my cash (ONLY FORM OF CURRENCY THEY ACCEPT) quick enough to pay before she handed me my goodness in tinfoil wrap -The Hangover Breakfast sandwich ($6 cash money): would highly recommend you get it with the bui sauce, their homemade version of spicy mayo. White bread sub with egg, bacon, ham and sausage inside. Pretty standard breakfast sub but the sauce gives it that zing Overall, good food truck. Would come back again. Only improvement areas for me would be offering whole wheat sub and accepting credit cards

The wheat bread wasn't impressive. I think most people avoid paying the extra 50c for the wheat bread, and go for the regular bread. Thats likely why the wheat bread was almost stale. I am not sure why the mixed veggie doesn't come with cheese in it. I have to say the spinach is sometimes a bit suspect. Its certainly not the freshest spinach out there, but it sometimes smells a bit stale. Oh and the mushrooms are out of a can. Which given my distrust of the spinach can't be a bad thing at all. They taste fine. Overall, this is a foodtruck that sells its rolls for $3. Don't expect the world. Overall, I'm very happy with the 'regular' that I have here - double egg, cheese WITH mushrooms, bui sauce and hot sauce. I've had it on innumerable occasions now, and like the lady who makes it in a jiffy.

If you're in the mood for some delicious sandwiches in UCity, Bui's is the way to go! After having heard so many good things about this food truck, I finally gave it a try. Since then, I have continued to come back almost every week! Bui's has cheap, great sandwiches AND they are prepared in a super fast manner. My favorite is the hangover special, a very popular choice among other customers as well. It's filled with a sausage patty, bacon, eggs, and their special Bui's sauce. The Bui's sauce is most likely a combination of Siracha and mayo sauce, but the way they make it has a tasty kick to it! It's a delicious addition to all their sandwiches! The owners are Vietnamese and friendly! You also have the option to call ahead and make a phone order for pick up. I've also called and asked them what their hours are and it actually closes around 2:30-3p. Bui's is perfect for a breakfast or lunch sandwich!

Good prices, lightning quick service, but the sandwich was only alright. Supposedly great for breakfast, not a great lunch place.

The owner is so nice and obviously has many regular customers. He was asking a lady about how her pain level had been lately and started the next lady's order with a confirmation "egg and cheese on wheat?" I was happy to see this- regulars are a good sign. I ordered an egg and cheese, which comes on a long roll (though you can get it on toast or a bagel) and was so surprised when I watched him break eggs over the griddle and whisk them. Usually there are already-made eggs that are tossed on a piece of bread at these places--- not the case here. He made my eggs while taking care of two other customers' orders with no problems. A few minutes later, I walked away from the truck with a 16 oz coffee and a big breakfast sandwich for only $4. The sandwich is delicious, was made fresh-to-order, and served with a smile. I will definitely be back.

Unfortunately, since we got to the event late (thanks for that, SEPTA) we also got to the truck late. The line was cut off right in front of us after we had waited for several minutes. Not giving up, I located their truck at today's Flight Market. Again, since I ate first, the line was quite long. Maybe this is just a thing at food truck festivals? It was the longest line of my day, though. When I [finally] reached the front, I paid my $4, waited some more, and alas, was handed a French Toast and a Captain Cranky. My first thought was that they were smaller than anticipated -- especially for that price tag. Still, I was excited, happily shot a photo, and bit into the French Toast. Aaaand all I could taste was grease. I understand they had just come out of the fryer, but... what? It did not taste like French Toast in the slightest bit, which was a bummer. Next up, the Captain Cranky had a strawberry glaze and captain crunch on it. I told my friend that the topping was the best part. This one was otherwise just as greasy. I realize they were likely overwhelmed by the number of people wanting their donuts, but I do wish this had been a better experience. If I ever stumble upon them in the city, I'll give them a second try, but I certainly won't go out of my way to wait in a crazy long line for them again.

I cannot remember the name of one of my donuts now, but it was glazed in banana icing and covered in cocoa pebbles cereal. The banana icing was unique and very tasty. I also got their signature 'Homer' donut, which has vanilla and chocolate icing with bacon on top. It could have used a bit more bacon but overall it also was well done. Points off for rude service though. Their donuts aren't that unique; I wouldn't go back only to be rushed through by a gruff staff. By only selling one basic type of donut (and literally nothing else) I think they are doing themselves a disservice. Go if you want tasty glazed cake donuts, otherwise I think you can skip them.

Food trucks have come a long way and some of the best eats will be from trucks, especially in Philly. Street Food Philly came down to the Navy Yard on this lovely spring day and everything on the menu sounded delicious. My stomach can only hold so much during lunchtime so I got the black angus beef quesadilla and the truffle parm fries. Amazing!! I typically like my fries on the thinner side but they put just the right amount of truflle oil and freshly grated parmesan cheese that I didn't mind the thickness. The quesadilla was filled with perfectly seasoned ground beef, pico, and cheese. The meal was quite on the heavy side so I was only able to finish half of my meal. I'll be heating it up in about 2 hours. I tried picking it up to eat with my hands but it got quite messy. The filling kept falling out and luckily, I was all alone at my desk that no one saw me shoving my fingers into my mouth to get all of the goodness in there. I eventually became civilized and grabbed a fork to eat like a normal human being. Hope they came back so I can try out some of the other creations.

The food truck biz is definitely growing here in Philly. I saw the attractive bright green truck lined up amongst the others on 33rd street, central to Drexel students path to school. I saw their short but attractive menu posted on a white board and mulled it over for a couple minutes. The roasted lamb sandwich stood out to me with its Mediterranean influence, so I went with it. The owner, Mike, was friendly and chatted me up. He told me they had just roasted the lamb the previous night and that their menu constantly changes according to what they have available. HIs partner, Carolyn, is a friendly American-Vietnamese lady and they are just great! The sandwich was absolutely to die for!! I could not stop raving about it after I had it and immediately sent pictures, instagramed and advocated it to all of my friends. It definitely wasn't just lunch truck quality, but high restaurant quality. The meat was juicy and tender and the sauce topped it all off. There was just the right amount of feta cheese and olives- I don't even like olives and I very much enjoyed it in this sandwich. I even got my friend to go to their truck the same day and she got their pork tacos, which were also delish! I went back a second time yesterday and got the clam and oyster chowder, which was less creamy and more salty than for my liking. They were running out of a lot of their items since it was later in the day, and I was recommended the turkey sandwich. It has beans and a fried egg on top, but I ate it when it was cold so I can't say I liked it very much. I won't doubt their other items though. I heard the banh mi is pretty good, so I'll definitely be returning to try everything else!
