I checked out other gyms, but this was definitely the best because: 1. An emphasis on strength and conditioning. I wanted more than just cardio, cardio, cardio. It was going to take more than just cardio to get my health back. I needed a well-rounded program that would build muscle and endurance. 2. Training quality. A lot of gyms have you just follow an app and speed through circuits, but I wanted actual people who could teach me correct form and give me personalized, real feedback. If I was going to follow an app, I could honestly just do that at home with an app from my phone, and it would be a fraction of the price with similar quality. The coaches at Fitness4ward are excellent, and a lot of the older members are extremely knowledgeable and happy to help too. 3. Pricing. It's actually a better deal per workout when compared to most chain gyms. If you want to work out consistently more than just twice a week, this gym is very affordable. (I come around 3 to 4 times a week.) I got my health back thanks to this gym. Before, I couldn't even walk my dogs for ten minutes without facing severe physical consequences for the rest of the day. Not only have I recovered my health, but I've fallen in love with working out in and of itself. It's surprising and exhilarating to push your body and mind out of your comfort zone and have it reach new limits that you thought were possible for everyone but yourself. And don't be intimidated by the program or the more experienced members! I never felt like anyone was judging me when I was brand new and couldn't even do three push ups. I'm still not the best even now, but I don't feel intimidated or judged. Everyone is at different levels and has a different story My husband is coming out with me now too, and we are both grateful to have a great gym where we can improve and maintain our health

I am a 22 year old college student and I wanted to do something to start having a strong and fit body that I loved. I tried many different fitness programs in San Diego, but I had never been completely motivated to follow my coaches suggestions and to not cheat. The day I went in for the info session at Fitness and Motion, the coaches showed me before and after pictures of their clients and I thought "wow! they look amazing... if they can do it, so can I." In 6 weeks I have lost 11.5 lbs, gone from 27.4% body fat to 24% body fat, and lost over 3.5 inches off my waist. I think those numbers speak for themselves. I have a sweet tooth, but the coaches really motivated me to sacrifice sweets and give healthy food a chance, and I surprised myself in being able to do it! What makes their program awesome is how holistic it is, the trainers KNOW that to be healthy you need to workout but also need to eat healthy and sleep. They give you tips on how to not fail, like on what you can order at restaurants, or what snacks are good to have at your desk or purse that will actually aid in your nutrition and weight-loss. I will continue to go to Fitness and Motion because I see the results of their method on a weekly basis. The facilities are super clean, and you do not get that sweaty gym smell that some gyms have. Great music choices for the HIIT workouts. The only drawback for me is that they share bathrooms with the other businesses in the general area, but just bring your flip flops to shower there and you should be good. If you actually join them, I suggest being very open and communicative with the coaches. Tell them what you struggle with (whether it is eating or doing cardio on your own) and they have effective solutions and strategies for your struggles. I personally trained with Aurelie and Stephanie. They have great workouts to tone your abs and waist area. But most importantly, they really care that you get your results and that you get healthy because they care about you. They learn everybody's name and meet with people to establish new goals once the old ones are accomplished. I have no doubt that if I keep working hard and doing what they tell me to do I will get to my goal of body fat percentage very soon. Thank you to Fitness and Motion and the staff for starting me in the beginning of my new lifestyle and for being a such a supportive group of coaches. #FitMo #FitmoFam

24 HOUR FITNESS @ UTC LA JOLLA…read more Parking is available on the first floor of the Genesee Avenue parking garage. If you're visiting with the 5-day free pass, I highly recommend entering through this entrance because it can be a little confusing to find the gym since it's located underneath the UTC mall. One great perk is that 24 Hour Fitness validates an additional two hours of parking on top of UTC's free one-hour parking, giving you a total of three hours to work out and even do a little shopping afterward. This was actually my first time ever visiting a 24 Hour Fitness. Since I live so close to UTC, I've always wanted to check it out, especially because it's open 24 hours. I originally signed up for the free 5-day trial, but after taking a quick tour, the salesperson was incredibly friendly and even gave me $15 off the regular membership price. That made it an easy decision to sign up. I'm a pretty low-maintenance gym person, so all I really care about is having a clean, spacious gym with plenty of equipment, and this location definitely delivers. There are lots of free weights, machines, and plenty of equipment for both upper and lower body workouts. I also love that they offer cycling classes and are adding Pilates classes soon, which is a huge bonus. My only real complaint is that it can get very crowded during peak hours, especially in the mornings and evenings. Luckily, I work remotely, so I have the flexibility to go during off-peak times when it's much less busy. If you have a flexible schedule, I think you'll have a much better experience. Another feature I really enjoy is the recovery amenities. They have both a sauna and a steam room, which are perfect after a tough workout. My membership only costs $47 a month, which is honestly much cheaper than some of the smaller boutique gyms I've belonged to before. It also includes a guest buddy pass, making it easy to bring a friend along. Overall, I've had a great experience with this 24 Hour Fitness. While it can get crowded during busy times, the spacious facility, wide variety of equipment, group fitness classes, recovery amenities, convenient location, and affordable membership make it a gym I would definitely recommend trying.

I heard about Ignite from several friends who raved about the classes, which peaked my interest. My husband and I tried out a free class and by the time we finished I knew I found the missing component in my fitness routine. I was 5 months postpartum, in a body I didn't recognize nor feel comfortable in, I felt incredibly weak, but I was ready to put in the work to feel better. I searched open gyms in my area and Evolve popped up. After a week trial I knew this was the gym for me. This is a small group weight/strength training gym. There's 12 people in each class maximum. It feels like group personal training classes. No class is the same. I've been going here for two years and not one single class is the same! You are encouraged but not forced or overly pushed. This was what I needed after having a baby as my body was still recovering. Every movement is intentional and proper form is encouraged. This gym will get you feeling strong and capable at meet you where you are at. Bo and Brietta are incredible trainers. They will encourage you as much as you need to be encouraged and have a way of letting you do as much as you are able. Everyone has different limitations and abilities and that is recognized and supported here. They always provide alternate movements when needed. They are both approachable and easy to talk to. I remember talking to Bo about breastfeeding when I was in that phase of my life- can't forget to mention that he encouraged me not to cut calories to keep milk production up, which showed me he wasn't just about weight loss results. Brietta is a peach - kindhearted and has the shape that can motivate any woman to train with her. Another thing I admire about this gym is the people. Every shape, size, age, color. They are all here. Everyone is positive and motivating. I've even made some friends here. So, all that to say, try this place out. You'll meet a new community of people who have similar goals as you. You'll be encouraged to move at your own pace and evolve as your body feels ready. For those mamas with new babies - come! You won't regret it. At the end of the workout Bo told me to come back and check it out again to see if I really liked it. The next day. I remember texting my friends that I couldn't get up off the toilet because my legs were jelly. I was for sure coming back! Basically, the rest is history.
