The attention to detail and the knowledge Andy has about anatomy is unmatched. He will not let you do a movement wrong but will gently guide you into the correct position so you engage the right muscles. He explains how the muscles move so clearly which helps his clients understand why each movement is important. Andy is interesting, genuine and fun. I highly recommend him to my patients that want to strengthen weak muscles post injury. read more

I left feeling not only better and with less pain in my body but also with a sense of optimism about a full recover from years of a niggling injury. Hope is powerful! Thank you Andy! He has a depth of knowledge that spans many different fields of mind body connection, movement and neural and physical therapies. It's a great recipe! To find someone locally at this level is a gift to the San Diego area. I'm really looking forward to working with Andy and feeling I am in good hands. read more

Andy was recommended to me from two work colleagues - athletic guys who were looking for a balance of treatment for lingering injury issues with a well thought-out fitness plan. Andy does both, and very well! His Neurokinetic Therapy helped alleviate the muscle pain in my legs (tight calves and hamstrings that led to pulled muscles during sports) and provided a number of unexpected benefits, including resolving jaw pain / TMJ and improving my posture. It's pretty cutting-edge thinking - not stuff you find at your local gym. And it's effective. Think a mix of ... eastern philosophy about the body, pilates/core and resistance training - designed specifically for you. Because of that success, I've been a regular at Movement Reborn for the past four months and enjoy my sessions twice per week. My focus has shifted from the treatment of pain to improving my core strength and overall mind/body connection. If you're serious about your health, Andy has the knowledge, skills and commitment to make a difference. Highly recommend! read more

I came in with some persistent back pack a while back and did the intro program for about 7 weeks and added on a few more classes to keep up with the program. I was tired of going to chiropractors, and wanted to get to the root of the problem. My main intentions were to fix the back pain and also get started with doing some animal flow type workouts. I felt so welcomed and taken care of the moment I stepped in. Andy and Ryan spent the first session asking questions, diagnosing, running through movements with my body, and even stayed a little later to answer some additional questions. The group classes are a 1:4 teacher to student ratio, but oftentimes both are there anyways to assist! They really focus on targeting all the right muscle groups, and making sure that you have the proper form in the exercises. They really helped me understand and listen to my body, and know how to address issues as they come up. Their main goal is to make sure you get rid of your pain, and also incorporate any other goals you have into your lifestyle. Thanks again Andy and Ryan! read more

I started training with Andy after a back injury. He has really helped me understand what exercises I need to be doing and showing me exactly how to do them properly. The gym is very clean and well equipped. I started with private lessons and moved into small group classes after 6 weeks. The small group classes have a max of 4 people and he has a personalized workout for me every time. Everyone I've met in the classes has been friendly and positive which makes it a fun environment. I really appreciate the encouragement, knowledge and caring attitude he brings every time I workout at his gym! read more

Andy have been helping me with my neck and ankle pain.. Very smart guy and with knowledge. Highly recommend read more

Andy is a magician! I was having chronic thoracic back pain for more than 6 months (I suspect this was self inflicted from lifting too heavy at the gym) and nobody could help fully alleviate the pain I was having. I tried daily stretches as prescribed from physical therapy, chiropractic work, and just my doctor in general. After 1 session with Andy I feel better than I have in over 6 months. His 1 on 1 session felt really personalized and he was actually listening to what I was saying. His approach was very unique and made sense as he walked me through what he was doing exactly. I am looking forward to scheduling more sessions with him in the future to keep my back on the right track. Thanks Andy! read more

Movement Reborn is a great gym, Andy Hsieh is a true expert working with people who deal with pain. Andy is also well known in the Bay Area and people travel far for his service. I had fracture my tibia and fibula 2 years ago and still deal with ankle and knee pain. In less than a hr with Andy he did some manual muscle testing with his NKT technique and helped me find which muscle was not activating and which one was overactive. We did a few releases and activation drill and my ankle is a lot better. Now I know what I have to do daily to manage my pain. Thank you Andy! read more

I've been having bad pain in my lower back for about 10 months. A lifetime of repetitive-motion type sports and bad posture is really catching up to me. I've tried everything I could, massage therapy, yoga, online mobility workshops. Doctor would just say, "Lay off it and let it heal" . That never worked. Cue in Andy @ Movement Reborn , my life was changed. No longer was bending over or even just laying in bed a painful chore. Andy really works with you, as long as you work with him. He is extremely experienced in what he does, and it shows because he understands what he doesn't know. The whole time at movement reborn, I felt special, like Andy was trying to solve the physiology of my body like a puzzle. It is a safe and personal space for you to express your concerns about the health of your body. He does both personal training (1-on-1) and small group (1-4, case by case) training sessions at various flexible times. read more

As a 45 year-old man who used to play sports regularly, I have battled with injuries for about 25 years. I have always been frustrated that the traditional way to treat injuries is to visit a PT who will deal with the specific symptoms and specific area of the injury. I have long believed that we all do basic movements repeatedly which could be improved or corrected to address issues at their root. Working with Andy of Movement Reborn has been incredibly refreshing. His approach aligns with my views stated above. Andy sincerely cares about each of his clients and wants to optimize their movements and on-going well being. Andy is obsessed with studying all aspects of movement, both traditional and exploratory. He takes the best from what he learns and tailors his solution to each client. For the first time in my life, I am lifting and moving better. While not all nagging injuries has resolved instantly, I sincerely believe that Andy has put me on the right path to recovery. I can not recommend Andy enough. He works with athletes and non-althetes, young and old, men and women. He provides a free consultation (at least he did as of May 2018). He will not put pressure on you. He will provide you valuable information during that consultation. It will then be up to you to determine if you would like to sign up. read more

This place is legit, and Andy knows his stuff! I've been to a sports physical therapist, a personal trainer and a podiatrist to assess ankle issues, knee issues and lower back tightness. I got some advice on stretching exercises to do and general strengthening exercises. But I didn't feel it helped much. I made an appointment with Andy because I liked his philosophy on health. I just wanted to move better and be less injury prone. Within one session, Andy was able to assess why my muscles were tight, why certain ones weren't activating and reset my body to function properly! He told me what I needed to do to maintain and how to perform resets at home. I walked away with knowledge and exercises and stretches that were effective. This is my new favorite fitness facility. read more

I started working out with Andy about 3 months ago after a lingering foot injury. I came across an article about Andy that spoke about his integrated approach and the need to feel well not just look good. I feel like Andy cares about me and not just the workout. I didn't think personal training was for me, but Andy changes up the routines to make them fun and challenging. The consultations are free so there's no risk to try read more

I am thankful that I found Movement Reborn through another powerlifting athlete. Andy is extremely knowledgeable and professional, and it is apparent that he is passionate about helping people move without pain. He has flexible hours and creates a really welcoming environment for his clients. Andy is committed to growth in the industry and works with other professionals to learn about alternative pain methods. I worked with Andy for about 1.5 months to recover from my powerlifting injuries. He helped me with my imbalances and today I am slowly regaining my strength. The thing most people do not realize about pain management is that unless you can get to the root cause, you will continue to suffer. If you are looking for a knowledgeable professional who thinks outside the box, I highly recommend contacting Andy for a consultation. read more

Just to capture the whole experience I have to share the meet and greet... Walking with my family while enjoying the La Jolla farmers market I was fortunate to meet Andy. I explained a old back injury that seemed to be re-aggravated while on recent plane ride. In a matter of minutes and some small short movements Andy was able to recommend some treatment that he would be able to do. Sort of in disbelief of any success as I have seen numerous Doctors and Chiropractors, I didn't expect any help from a guy at a farmers market. With in minutes of his treatment I felt lots of relief from the pain and discomfort that I had become used to. My wife sat in disbelief as I was able to bend at the waist and touch my toes with no hesitation. He worked on some muscles in my back that were over worked and fatigued causing spasms. The difference this 10 dollar first time treatment made earned this 5 star review and follow up appointments while I am here on travel. read more

I knew I had to get in touch with Andy when I saw that he focused on pain management. I've always ended up in pain whenever I've worked with a trainer in the past. After many years of dealing with lower back pain, tight hips and calves that limited my exercise routine, I reached out to Andy. I was convinced early on that his way of approaching movement and exercise were the right fit for me. Now I'm back to my usual exercise routine and feel stronger because of the releases and exercises Andy has taught me. Andy has a different and more holistic approach to moving and strengthening our bodies. I've never liked the gym and going to his classes never feels like a typical gym. read more

My personal trainer at Equinox recommended Andy as I was having lower back issues that persisted for a long time, and Andy is well known even during his Equinox days among the personal trainers as the guy who knows his stuff around injury and rehabilitation. I happened to have a trip to San Diego planned and immediately scheduled a session with Andy. Andy performed a very thorough set of muscle testing to identify the particular issues with my lower back. In addition, he pinpointed some weakness at my left ankle that was causing movement issues. It was very obvious within the first ten minutes that Andy is someone who is very knowledgeable about muscle kinetics and movement and is very geniune in helping people out. Our session went so well that I booked two more during my stay in San Diego. Before I left, Andy designed a series of exercises for me to do before and after my workouts; they are simple yet very effective. Since then I have been doing those "Andy" exercises before my workouts 2-3 times a week, and as a result, my lower back pain has mostly gone. I also noticed improved mobility around my hips and sacrum. I have nothing but the best things to say about working with Andy. My only regret is that he lives so far that I cannot see him often! read more
