Got item from this junk yard, asked attendant at least twice whether returns were accepted, they said yes, we do, just bring it within 30 days, cool, after 2 days returned with item cause it didn't fit, so asked same person for my refund, this time he says that he had forgotten to tell me that now cause a new business administration there is no refunds but STORE CREDITS. So beware they'll hide this fine print from you, so you pay for their junk and leave asap! in the end it's just a junk yard!

Great place for artists and those who enjoy decorating and home repair while preserving the original character of older buildings! A large assortment of windows, doors, sinks, toilets, lighting fixtures, and other home repair items as well as tumbled glass! Visit for inspiration and ideas. Friendly staff too!

Unique place. Located in an industrial part of San Francisco, but felt quite safe. Most of it is outdoors, except for lighting etc, so little Covid risk. They happily give you a receipt for your fully tax deductible donation- it's kind of like Goodwill in that way.

This used to be my favorite scrapyard for refurbishing and redoing the details in my apartment. The staff (with the exception of a few) used to be really friendly, negotiable, reasonable and helpful, but recently with the barrage of designer shows and HGTV, the catering to yuppies has taken over. You can't blame them for their success...thats how it just is. Used doors that used to cost 10-20 dollars now go for 40-60, window panes before 5-10 dollars now 45-60. Regardless the yard has the best selection here in San Francisco. You'll find old store fixtures, counter tops, plumbing, tiles and marble, doors, windows, trade show booths, stages, chairs, iron gates, lighting fixtures, and so much more to list for an artists or DIY's imagination. Prices are negotiable, but word to the wise, if you roll up in a hummer dressed like a hip clubbing elitist expect to pay top $$$$$$

Echoing the sentiment of the others. - Great place if you're doing a remodel - Equally great place if you're doing a small project - Friendly and knowledgeable guys - Good selection for each category of items - Random finds! - Easy parking Bathroom items, doors, windows, glass, metal, wood, interior and exterior.. they really have a little bit of everything. Most items are really well organized, but you'll find unsorted carts here and there (just make sure they aren't someone else's shopping cart!). They take donations 7 days a week, and will give you a receipt for it. As long as it's something usable and in decent condition, they will most likely take it. There's a list of items that they cannot accept, so check their site first if you're unsure. Just like a lot of places like this.. things are out in the open, so expect them to be dirty and or covered in water/dust. Easy fix! Bring some gloves, and happy digging!

The art display...of course, reused articles make great art

The prices were lower than Ohmega in Berkeley, and the selection isn't as overwhelming as Urban Ore.

Yelp isn't your personal grievance diary and taking a public swing at a longtime employee says more about you than it does about her. If you genuinely felt wronged, the adult move is to address it with management directly. As a person of color myself, tossing around accusations like racism in a review without substance isn't advocacy--what it is, is lazy, flippant and overreach. As for the store itself: Salvation Army Thrift Store continues to do what it's always done--support people who actually need it. Yes, prices may be up slightly (I only thrift clothes and shoes so increase is between $1-$5 across the levels), but they're still well below most local thrift competitors, and the mission behind the register matters. As a side note, the new rewards program is a great new added incentive! The Valencia team shows up, works hard, and treats people with respect. If that's not enough, no one's forcing you to shop here--feel free to take your expectations (and attitude) elsewhere.

Greetings to all, l am back again to this location, let's see how it went:…read more Parking is shared with the other surrounding businesses in the same area; this works well for them. Inside this location was a well lit establishment that promotes the buying atmosphere. The service was nice and friendly. The bargains were too many to list; but l did get some good finds in this location.

Dear Salvation Army Management-…read more I have been a loyal customer of your store for years and have always enjoyed shopping for myself and my children. During my visit yesterday, I was shocked to see that dresses which previously cost $12.99 now have mixed prices ranging from $29.99 to $55.99 or more. This is a drastic increase of over 300%, and it completely changes the experience of affordable thrifting that I and many others have relied on. I was especially surprised to see items like Wild Fable sweatpants--brand-name clothing from Target for kids and teens and young adults--being sold for $6.99 which feels unreasonable for used clothing. Previously, finding affordable items like these was part of the appeal of your store. Now, these prices are comparable to--or even higher than--what you would pay retail, making it difficult for families on a budget to shop. I also noticed that standard pricing signage has been removed, leaving only the "color of the day" sale tags. While I understand promotional sales, the removal of regular pricing combined with these significant increases is confusing and disappointing. I have donated items to this location in the past, but after seeing these changes, I will have to rethink whether I continue dropping things off here. Stores like the Salvation Army have always been valued for making clothing affordable and accessible to the community, and I hope you will reconsider this pricing strategy to maintain that mission.

How hard could that be to find? Er, really hard. I resorted to GPS which dead-ended me at the Post Office loading dock. Finally, I thought to call them and the recording sent me upstairs between Walgreens & Safeway. Who knew?! Absolutely zero signage. Mystery staircase, walkway, boarded up windows- hark, a faded logo on a locked door. I almost left, but then noticed a black garbage can with a clipboard on top. Leave your email & they'll send you a receipt. Sigh. I wanted to know if they also take shampoo, took a chance & left it along with a warm down jacket. Like I said, the jacket has a small hole, & nobody I spoke to wanted it, so it was either find a cold street person or hope the jacket will go to a good home. So, I give these angels 4 stars for the good work they do- assuming it's everything listed on their website. Minus 1 star for zero visibility from the street level. A sign or two would certainly bring them much more donations.
