BEWARE!! So...I've never, ever had to deal with such unprofessional , un diplomatic people in my entire life. My grandson was kicked out without a notice for biting. Yet, he came home with bite marks on a daily. The classrooms have too many kids and it was causing him anxiety. I asked the director about it and she said the kids were biting him out of retaliation ..What?? What 2 year old knows how to retaliate??? This daycare is a joke. The director is a joke!! The only good thing that came out of this...now I get to watch my grandson and give him the care he deserves. They just didn't want to deal with him because there were too many kids in his class. read more

My objective for writing this review is to warn parents beforehand that two child caregivers in 3C, namely Amy and Sierra, have greatly disappointed us and have given our family the impression that they are grossly incompetent in the area of early childhood caregiving. At a time our family was undergoing several transitions, such as relocation, living with another family member in a crowded home while waiting for the apartment to be prepared for move-in, and starting a new job, my daughter was called on my grandson's third day there (and her third day at a new job), was told he was hitting and that she had to come pick him up. I haven't attended the same college courses that these young women have and I have no idea if either of them have children themselves, but I am a mother myself and also have spent an inordinate amount of time with my three-year-old grandson and my three-year-old niece, babysitting for them on numerous occasions and many times for overnight visits and entire weekends. I have found the "time-out" technique to be extremely effective if and when either of them would display undesirable behavior. I need to explain that my grandson (and daughter) lived with me for five months just before she moved back to Springfield in February (2017) and he was attending a pre-school near my home two days a week with 13 other children and two wonderfully skilled, loving, and competent caregivers, and NEVER did I witness him hitting other children and NEVER did the caregivers report to us that he had. My daughter secured employment in Springfield and needed day care, and as I said, my grandson was coping with many changes of environment, not to mention being expected to attend day care full time at the drop of a hat! My daughter started her new job on a Monday and dropped my grandson off that morning, and on Wednesday around 10am she was called and told she had to pick him up for hitting and being disruptive. I am not saying there shouldn't be consequences such as time out for this kind of behavior, if it happened as they said, but with all that he was going through I can see how he may not have been coping very well. HE IS THREE YEARS OLD! Calling my daughter to pick him up jeopardized her job and she was given no choice but to make arrangements to have him picked up. I can't wrap my head around the fact that these child caregivers had not been trained to deal with disruptive behavior from a child, and that the day care wouldn't work with them to make the transition to day care easier for him. I had high expectations when my daughter told me she enrolled my grandson in this day care as my daughter attended the same day care when she was three years old and we both were very happy with the care and the staff (1997). When I discovered my grandson was ousted on the third day for reasons I still can't understand, instead of treated with patience and utilizing the common practice of negative consequence like time out or removing the child from the situation, helping him/her talk it out, etc., I was shocked and I'm still angry. These two child caregivers do not currently have what it takes to be caregivers in a day care setting, and I'd recommend that they receive better training in what techniques are useful in instructing children and teaching them how to respond better in social situations. Please find caregivers that are willing to give an extra dose of patience to these little ones when they're going through a great deal at home. My heart goes out to any parent who has experienced this type of last-minute scramble to find a safe place for his/her child while he/she has to work because a day care establishment doesn't know how to deal with a frustrated three year old! I regret that we didn't read reviews and ask around before subjecting my daughter and grandson to this very disappointing scenario. read more

So I worked at BB for roughly 8 months and in that short time I lost 32 lbs because of the stress of dealing with the directors and the girls I was working in a room with. I witnessed the teacher in my room mistreating and yelling at the babies, mind you this is in infants. One of the teachers in particular thought it was funny to scare the babies to the point of them crying. I repeatedly told her to stop and that they aren't her kids so don't treat them like that. I went to both directors on a few occasions to express my concern and nothing ever happened. But for some strange reason I was moved to a different infant room with no explanation. I personally believe it's because the directors didn't want me to cause any problems for them by seeing something that I felt needed to be reported to dcfs. There were 2 occasions where I probably should have reported this certain teacher but I didnt. I thought if I told the directors they would handle the situation but instead I got moved. I'm writing this because the way they run that place is ridiculous. They NEVER have enough staff so babies are CONSTANTLY being moved from one room to another. They don't see babies or children, all they see are $$$$$ I'm happy that I finally decided to quit. I'm so much happier now. That place drains your soul. read more

I absolutely LOVED Building Blocks daycare! My daughter went to the one on Chatham Road. I worked 2nd shift at Memorial and this was the only one open to accommodate 2nd shift employees that wasn't an in home daycare. We never had any issues with the staff, from the owners to the janitor. All were very personable. She went there from 6 months to 4 years old. No complaints what so ever! read more

I had a horrible experience at this daycare. When my daughter first attended, she had no issues. She had two teachers, miss Kayla and miss McKenzie, who were very good and knew how to work with young children. Unfortunately, she now has a new teacher who doesn't seem to know how to handle a 4 year old. She has been sent home twice, not for biting or hitting but for not listening. It is normal for a 4 year old to say no, but can usually be persuaded relatively easily if you know what you are doing. Having one hour to pick up my child because you can't get her to sit down for lunch is unacceptable. Don't waste your time with this daycare. read more

So building blocks south was great until we had to move to the west location on Chatham rd. The classroom teacher is incompetent. I have asked several times that my sons hat and coat are put on him before he goes to ELC in the afternoon being that they play outside & he's had several ear infections. They still seem to not be able to put his hat on everyday when it's right there in the room in his bag. The owner Deb tells me that it's the 3 year olds responsibility to get their things on before the bus. Really?!... Also how the teacher needs reminders each morning to put it on him. It seems to me like their isn't enough help or something. All I got were excuses and no apology. But never mind the apology, something else must be going on as to why as simple as a hat cannot be applied. I have called over 4 times regarding this and still not resolved. Some days he has a hat others he doesn't. It's not 60 degrees yet! read more

I am very pleased with this daycare. It is very clean and bright. The people are so friendly and kind- I truly feel they love my baby. I am very pleased and would recommend this daycare to anyone. read more
