Wish there was a hardware store like this where I lived! Context: visiting 29 Palms for a few days with the kids for some dirt bike rides. One of the bikes needed some TLC, namely some missing hardware. We went to Parker's Building Supply not expecting too much, but were completely surprised by how well stocked the store was. But even more than than, John (behind the counter) and Mike (on the floor) made the trip special. Both showed interest in the bikes (that's a plus in my book), didn't fret the nickles and dimes, and made us feel like VIPs. Definitely will make this our go-to place when in 29 Palms. The customer service is beyond anything you will get from the orange box in yucca and they will do their best to match or beat the price! Good news from a sad event. A fire closed the location last year and many worried that was the end. Well, it's not! As a hi-desert resident for over eight years, I know how hard it is to find tools and hardware for specific jobs. If you live in Twentynine Palms, like I do, you don't want to have to drive to Yucca Valley (or beyond!) to get what you are looking for. This is just one of the reasons why I prefer my local Builder's Supply for the equipment I need. The staff at Builder's Supply greet you when you walk in the door, and they take the time to check in with you regarding the project you are working on. Now, my project was just a simple wall mount install, but I received a great deal of help from the knowledgeable staff, particularly from Amanda and Mike. Amanda took the time to ask me about the details of the install, offering up ideas for how to mount my shelf and what type of hardware would be best for the material I was boring into. Mike gave me some good advice about what kind of drill would be best for the job, as well. All in all, this team goes the extra mile to make sure that they have satisfied customers -- I'm living proof! From here on out, I don't see any reason to go back to Home Cheap-o or those other big box hardware stores. Short review: I am so thankful to Krystal at Builder's Supply. I was able to call in and ask for stock on a product. I showed up and Krystal personally walked me over to what I needed. I was also in shock at the products they keep in stock. I was looking for a Philips Hue Dimmer and Home Depot had NONE in stock. When I found it at Builder's I promptly canceled my Amazon order. I was happy to be supporting a great local gem. All of the staff and cashiers were super friendly to me and recognized me as I visited twice in one day! Long review (looking at you corporate! Haha.): My husband and I have lived in 29 for almost 9 years collectively and we have NEVER visited Builder's Supply (kicking ourselves now). We would have to do that hour trek back and forth to Home Depot in Yucca Valley. We were in the middle of replacing our sink faucet and frustrated as we didn't realize in California the main water shut off is out in your yard. We had just gone to Home Depot that morning and were super frustrated when we realized we might have to go back to get a water meter key. Thankfully I thought, "There has to be a better way, isn't there something local to us!?" Quick Google search and a pleasant phone call later, I left Builder's Supply with everything I needed and more. I was so happily surprised to find two Philips Hue Dimmers there. Being a first-time homeowner I feel like I am constantly learning new things, which means constant visits to hardware stores. I am SO THANKFUL I no longer have to wait until the end of the week to go to HD, I can get what I need even more locally in 29. The same day I visited twice for light switches and covers. Builder's truly has a great selection for being in such a small town. It is also greatly competitive with HD as Builder's Supply appreciates its military customers in the same way. I just get so save gas and support a local gem. I am looking forward to being a loyal customer for years to come! Krystal was the MVP and really helped me while I was already frustrated. We had to replace our valves as our entire house used those horrible plastic pull valves, our simple sink faucet replacement turned into 4 hours of frustration but Krystal really helped me that day! I can't thank her enough. Just stopped in again, Arlene was so helpful and nice! I'm sincerely happy doing business here, from what I have observed everyone is wearing a mask and there is a sign on the door stating masks are mandatory. read more

When Barr Lumber closed a few years back, there were few options in town to buy hardware. There is another store in town, but they were seldom open (for our needs - we're mostly in town on weekends...) I found this place by accident, when I was across the street visiting the Creative Center during Open Studios. When I saw the new hardware store (this place), I hoped it wasn't a mirage. And it isn't - it's just NEW! I took a photo of their store hours and such since they had just closed, and vowed to come back. Our next opportunity to check the place out happened when our generator blew. Unfortunately, 29 doesn't have any small engine shops left (nor does the entire Morongo Valley, we later learned) but discovering this place was almost as good. Fixing up the bathroom? Filling those drafty leaks? This is a convenient alternative in Twentynine Palms vs. driving all the way to Yucca for those 2-inch screws you need, or fencing, or paint, caulk, tools, or, or ... They're just a great hometown hardware store (and supported by a national chain), with a good selection - and they can even order whatever you need - just ask! And their prices are very competitive. They price check with "that other store" every week. Now we go there first whenever we're missing something for our home improvement projects. They have what we needed, they offered great ideas, and even cut keys there - full-service! I also noticed cards there for local contractors, handymen, people like that. So this could be a great place to ask about local construction and handyman help. So it's a win-win! Save HOURS skipping that trip to Yucca Valley - get your stuff right there in 29! They may close slightly earlier on the weekends / Sundays - so call for hours re the weekends. read more

Great service every time! My last visit I had a huge paint color issue. (My fault not theirs) and was helped by Krystal who was seriously so friendly, kind, so helpful and patient with me while we figured out how to adjust the color of my paint, until we found the PERFECT color. Anytime I've ever been in there I was always greeted and always helped by someone friendly and willing to go the extra step by showing me where the products are that I was asking about. It's very frustrating as I want to support businesses here in 29 but this is driving me away. These guys are wonderful! To start with, they are willing to meet or beat Home Depot's prices. That alone makes them cheaper than Home Depot because he don't have to spend the gas or the time to drive out there. Lori, the general manager, is absolutely wonderful. Ryan and Mike in the yard are fantastic. Positive attitudes, and willing to help in anyway they can. Although I don't know everyone's name there, I can tell you that they all have been wonderful. I hope someone at the corporate office is reading this because they deserve the recognition. read more

After moving to 29, I didn't even know that this place existed. My only option (unless I wanted to drive to Yucca) was the Desert Hardware up the road, which you'd have to roll the dice on whether they closed early or not (and they aren't open on Sundays). Finding out about BEST was a life saver. They have mostly everything you need here from lumber to blocks and anything in between. Huge plumbing section, huge screw and bolt aisle, paint (they they can color mix), and so on. The weekends they even have free popcorn! And they are open until 2pm on Sundays with their super friendly staff. I love this place! read more

They are not enforcing mask-wearing for their employees or customers, during a deadly pandemic, politicizing it, and putting some of us at great risk, which is beyond unacceptable, and perhaps illegal. We've reported them to the county, after having been a loyal customer for 40 years, throughout all its incarnations, and even the fire a couple years back. We've probably dropped 30 grand here over the last couple decades, and we're just to sad now to say we are ashamed that they're part of this community. One lady, the cashier, Jessica, who is, alarmingly, the main point of contact with customers, does the dick-nose thing, never, ever covering her nose with the mask, rendering a mask useless. She might as well not bother. The last straw for us, was when she sneezed out of her exposed nose and then tried to hand us our receipt. We refused, and got the heck out of there, likely never to return. We'll go to HD or down the hill if need be to avoid putting ourselves in jeopardy, by supporting this local business who is not supporting the American people. The pandemic has killed 130,000 Americans, and counting, and surging, and this business, by playing politics with people's lives is, at best, irresponsible, and, at worst, much, much worse. Wearing a mask is the least we can do to protect the weakest among us. It's not that hard. Just do it, guys. read more

As many reviewers have said, it's just great to have a place to go in town for most things I need for my household projects. They keep the store well-stocked with a perfectly adequate selection of supplies and tools, and I've been able to find what I need on most of my visits. For that reason alone, Builder's Supply deserves a favorable review. However, lumber selection is a bit less extensive and their stock is of rougher quality than what you can find at Home Depot in Yucca, and when I sent the manager a request for a quote for a large delivery order (all of the building materials for a complete home rehab project), I never received a response. It's a shame as I would have preferred to give my business to a store in 29. read more

When I went they had a sign on the door "masks optional." This was the day before the Governor mandated them. I would not have gone in but needed something urgently. No one was wearing masks, not even staff, no social distancing, no sign of disinfecting, but there was a large plexiglass barrier in front of the cashier. Other times I've gone there I didn't feel they were helpful. I would ask a question, they would shrug, say they would contact someone in the back. Ten minutes later someone from "the back" comes in and tells me they are out of what I wanted and suggests something else not even close to what I needed. When I went the other day, wearing a mask I got a funny look, but I asked for something and they had it. From now on I'll be going to Desert Hardware or making the trek to Home Depot or further to Lowes. I didn't feel welcome and didn't feel they were being safe. I know some people like that, I don't. read more

this Saturday was my first time ever shopping here and I must say I am very impressed and amazed with the staff working saturdays shift. The young lady Jessica was very friendly and helped me find all my plumbing needs as we were both unsure what we were looking for but my problem is solved. Krystal was a very kind lady she was very curtious to every customer she interacted with. The young lady Arlene that works in the yard was amazing and made sure I was helped and taken care of without waiting.
