I would love to give Builder's Electric a good rating, but I can't. A few years back I got a bid from them to do a job. They came and did the job. Unfortunately they didn't install the electrical post as agreed. When I saw it, I immediately called and they agreed they made the mistake and said they would come back a fix it. Even after several calls, which they always said they would fix, they never did. I finally gave up. They also charged me over $3,000.00 more then their estimate. The person who answered the phone was apparently unable to do anything except forward my call to another person's voicemail (the person who schedules appointments). After I left my message on that phone, I never even received the courtesy of a call-back. I will not call this company again. Thanks Betty P. for writing most of my above review two years ago, as I got the exact same treatment yesterday and today. In fact, I didn't think about checking Yelp until I didn't get a call back on the second day. When I have an electrical issue in my home that is beyond my scope of DIY, Builder's Electric is my go-to contractor. Recently one of their electricians came out to replace my electric thermostats. He replaced two and provided me with training on a third. I have ceiling heat and my wiring is a bit tricky. The price of the repair and free lesson was extremely reasonable, and he was very mindful of the amount of time he was spending on this job. Professional, knowledgable, and considerate. These guys were terrific. I spoke with Mel about some subcontracted work they had done through another contractor a couple of years ago and he came out himself to look at what had been done. It had passed inspection but he wasn't satisfied with that and came back the next day himself to bring it up to his standards. I have since had them out to do a number of small jobs and their attention to quality and customer service was outstanding. Don't even think about using another electrical contractor. read more

I asked for one of their more experienced electricians due to the age of my house. He was to arrive between 11-12 and they knew I had 4-5 hours of work. I was told he would stay until it was done. I was ready at 10:00 in case they were early, moved everything out of the way to install 4 new fixtures inside, 8 fixtures outside, and  4 dimmer switches. I called them at 2:00 to see what time he would be arriving and was told I had been rescheduled me for tomorrow. Nobody told me this or asked me this so not only was I not free the next day, I just sat here for 4 hours waiting for nothing. I was really upset so they had him come at 3:30 to start the job. He took off a light switch cover and did not put it back on and I could not get it back on, he took a light off the exterior wall, broke it and put it back with wires hanging out, he replaced a fixture outside and did not cover the old hole and it was not tight against the wall. But okay he was going to come back a week later, instead they called and said we were not a good match because I was so upset. Is there anyone who would not be upset? And now I am worried about how he left things and the next time I can get an electrician in is in a month, which means I also lose my 30 day return on 12 fixtures if I don't like them or they don't fit or work. A HUGE MESS. And I feel they should be saying they are so sorry this happened, and should get someone out as soon a possible, not canceling. They have enough commercial business that they just really don't care about residential work unless it is easy and goes smoothly. I judge a company not by how things go when everything runs smoothly, but what do they do when things go wrong and this company gets a huge F! read more

Requested quote for some electrical upgrades. Electrician called forgot day scheduled appt. wrote address down wrong. Day of appt. called said he was running late showed up an hour and a half past the time he said he would be there. Names on proposal mailed were incorrect/not close. Builder's Electric does not show up on time and overcharges for small jobs. The journeyman is sometimes pulled from the job to begin other jobs and does not return until a day or two later. So it takes days to do a four hour job! And then they charge for 10 hours! They recently charged almost a thousand dollars for a $400 job. read more

Called back after they checked their schedule. Called to confirm appt. Showed up on time. Did great work. Impressive to get this small job done most likely in the busy season.
